Hello and thank you for watching! I just wanted to highlight that I have NO AFFILIATION with drug manufacturers (BIG PHARMA), and NEVER will. My side effects with metoprolol was horrendous. I was choking up mouthfuls of phlegm, I was having trouble breathing ,I could not go up and down steps very well, I could not sleep I was having night terror. And waking up with headaches.I was taking 2: in the morning and 2 at night. My doctor would not listen to my side effects he said it was you do not get side effects. Then he up scrip. at 3 pills in the morning and 3 pills at night, I tried it one time and it was so bad I almost went to the ER. I just put them aside and stop taking them I take my husband's heart medicine and I am so much better. And my blood pressure is stable now. My physician told me to go to a different hospital and find a different heart doctor
I had the problem side affects ,the rare, brochspasms. Dangerous. Numerous er ,ambulance. Cardiologist never listened to all I wrote down and told. Had acute bronchitis ,lung issues. He never considered.
Great overview, I appreciate your efforts. It would be good to know the difference between all the different antihypertensive meds and why doctors decide to go with one over another. Also if you can do a video on natural ways to better regulate BP (with or without meds) I'd be really interested in that.
I was given Metoprolol in the hospital in Vegas with Lisinopril for an AV block 2nd degree and bradycardia. They did an Angiogram and Temporary pacemaker in ER then 8 hours later the Permanent pacemaker. 3 days after I had a Quadruple heart Bypass. I am still having shortness of breath after 7 months.
I take 50 mg once a Day, it helps with my anxiety / Panic , but my BP is still high, around 140 /89! Should i start 50 in the Morning and 50 mg in the evening?? I also have pre Diabetes (Insulin Resistance) and mild mixed Sleep Apnea
Not at all. BP is age related. 140/89 used to be normal in 1950s. Pharmaceutical industries pushed to reduce BP levels to 120/90, so that they could sell more and more Statins. Time to switch back to 140/90 as normal. Eat fruits like apple. Exercise a lot. Change to a better doctor. Normal BP medicines are ARBs not Beta Blockers.
Thanks for the information, I've been on 25mg for 15 months and I had a upper respiratory infection and was put on a z pack (antibiotic and steroid) treatment for 5 days and got over the URI then about 2 weeks later I developed an irregular heart beat and a cardiologist wrote a prescription that doubled (50 mg) my metoprolol dose (I have not done it yet)... my heart rate is between 55 -65 bpm....if I double it, will it give me bradycardia?
@@callonthechemistI am 68 and been on 25 mg of Atenolol for 25 years. Was first put on it for anxiety and palpitations. Recently BP 145/90. Was increased to 25 mg twice a day. Is there safer alternatives that have less side effects…
Speak to another doctor who listens to your concerns. Every medicine has side-effects that manifest differently in each individual. You definitely need a second opinion!
@@callonthechemist I'm under my family doctor is care. We are looking I just found out here are two forms of Metoprolol. Short and long term. And the long term should never be double. It was double last year and that is when my AFib became an issue. Side got worse. Trying to find a heart doctor. They are siding on my old heart doctor. And disagree with me having side effects. And I have to go back on that medication for them to be my doctor. ,🤷😞

Good advice as he knows he’s a lousy doctor!
I agree! My blood pressure is from horrendus back pain.
Amount of medication is based on high blood pressuse and not heart problem.

One of the common side effects of Metoprolol is bradycardia. You should monitor your heart rate with the increased dose.
What can one do with hair loss and metropolol?
Did not work fot me at all. It made me so sleepy to the point I was afraid d to drive.
Thank you👍
You're welcome

What do you do if a doctor don't want to hear about your side effects and continue to up your dose.
