It's also funny that Asta being short is good canon height and not just that he's young. Other protags hit puberty from their time skips or throughout the story, but Asta just started the same and it's not a demeaning joke because he got hands for days and muscles for miles

I put off this death battle until now because I wasn't up to date with each series and didn't want any spoilers 😅
I love how Deku's thinking all this strategy before the fight and Asta's like "I just got to hit him REALLY hard."
But in reality it would be inverse. Asta can adapt to enemies offense style mid battle meanwhile Deku was the I only have to hit him really hard for like half MHA.
Which odly enough, that is actually Izuku's numbers one strategy for almost every thing he fights
And by the end, Deku tells himself that too. Lol

I actually expected Asta to sever Dekus connection to his quirk, i thought that's what the eyes fading meant, and the Deku slamming down into the ground back in his squishy, quirkless, and not as exhausted regular form. Then Asta would just flexed and said "This is my power without someone's help" and while he's beating him closer to All Might, Asta goes off like Tai Lung:
"I trained until my muscles tore and bones broke, I trained day and night and worked until i passed from exhaustion, i trained to be the best before anyone helped!" That would've been a more fitting end

Not to mention how out of character and morbid that would be for no reason other than I guess you really don't like Deku?

@@GigaLigma Well with that argument any logia in One Piece are almost invulnerable to anyone outside said universe since Sea prism and Haki are the only counters unless you throw them in the sea which is next to impossible as you can't even grab them. Most agree that if it can be used to counter the main powers in one verse it will do the same for the other verses. That's how you make the battles fun. So for example chakra attacks in Naruto and Quirks in My Hero Academia work like Devil Fruit Powers while the black orbs in Naruto and anti magic in Black Clover would work like haki.

I love death battle's ability to make you invested in a series you know nothing about and never even considered liking; this episode made me watch Black Clover and even though Mha was my first anime I totally feel indifferent about Asta's victory as I like both characters and can truly understand each series' respective power level.
I just wish they showed more of Asta and Deku's moveset outside of black meteorite and detroit smash

My hero academia is one of my first anime's and while I am sad Deku lost, I'm not gonna cry about it. He isn't strong enough, but that's not important
I really appreciate the voice acting work you guys put into your work nowadays. You’ve gone from stealing used lines from other places for the occasional trash talk to originally written and performed lines that are unique to these fights. “Hit me with all you got, cause I’m never going down!” Gave me genuine chills with the delivery. Fantastic work as always guys!

Um no. Deku studied heroes and honed his battle IQ and still chased his dream despite everyone telling him he couldnt. He hit the gym once he got a mentor.

@@gameuniverse5973 Not really, they literally even said that Deku was the more nerdy one. The long sides of the blades are dull, but nothing says that the swords can't impale people with enough force (even irl metal bars can impale people despite not being sharp at all).
But despite being seriously headstrong and impatient Asta is not stupid by any stretch of the imagination. Even if Deku is smarter than Asta, he could still keep up.
Nah Asta isn't really dumb.
He is a battle genius and can adapt on his enemy.
He is even able to copy sword techniques, which would make him a real treat against the Demon Slayer universe because he could just wander around and copy every sword technique while his fights xD.
Although I don't like this fight.
I mean, in his fights Asta was never ever hysterical like here.
It's the opposite, in every fight he analyzed his enemy and reacted on them.
He was always cautious and didn't underestimate his opponent.

I thought Dekus eyes fading was Asta severing Dekus powers. Effectively turning Deku back into his squishy regular quirkless self. Which is why the swords were easily able to stab him
@@joseguadalupemartineztorre9702 Quirk =/= magic. His anti magic was useless against Deku. It was said during the end, as well as shown when he couldn't use any of his blunt swords to cut the blackwhip. Deku gave everything in the punch and basically passed out afterwards
Asta is turned into a combat nerd after the last time skip, learning how to manipulate his magic in different way, learning to surpass his limits with minimal time left

its the worst death battle. I get the feeling that these people hate Asta, they didn't even give him all his abilities and made him a dumb brute, when in reality his battle iq is rly good.

Truthfully if deathbattle added fair powerscaling this battle would never happen as Asta would backhand Deku into the underworld instantly
That's assuming he for some reason uses his full power immediately on some random guy in a tournament match. Realistically that wouldn't happen either, plus Deku still holds some advantages in intelligence and arguably speed that could prolong it.

I really hate how asta was portrayed here. He’s loud but he’s not dumb, in fact he’s more of a quick thinker than asta and comes up with creative new strategies for almost every fight while Deku usually just hurts himself to draw out more power if his initial plan fails

It's more accurate to say Deku USED to be smart. They did a really good job of showing it early on, but yeah, that has since been sidelined in favor of making him more of a generic anime protagonist and making the series in general more of a generic anime. Now his only solutions to problems are "hit it harder" or "angst about how I can't hit it hard enough."

Honestly couldn't see a way Deku could've won this fight against Asta. Just too much of a discrepancy between their fights, and Asta became a little too beastly whereas Deku just kept gaining moderate versatile buffs that didn't really much him any stronger

asta not beaing able to cut with his demon destroyer has already been debunked, against zagred with his word magic he could create physical and magical swords, he made a tridant that was comfirmed to be physical, yet in his black asta mode he made his sword sharp with anti magic, cutting the trident.
also asta is beyond light speed in base, he could literally bliz deku in his base form.
as much as i love deku, asta defeats him without breaking a sweat.

@@ScorpionRevengeNCG So a blunt blade and a sharp one can both cut, it's just that the sharp one uses less force because the concentration of the force is on a finer point. Right? Right.
When deku's quirk is active, it does create a coating of sorts, making his muscles dense enough to not be cut, the moment his quirk is exhausted, a sword of that size can impale him without requiring as much force.
@@bogustoast22none25 it makes more sense that asta either not percieving deku as a threat or because of his quirk looking and acting a bit like magic that he would create an anti magic weapon which would not be able to cut and when in his black asta mode and going all out creates a sharp weapon to cut down his opponent. it makes more sense that the weapon could not cut physically as we see him try to cut the quirk and could not even scratch them. even a dull knife scratches what a good knife slices.
Oh wow, Asta managed to cut a metal trident! Buddy, Deku can destroy buildings. And this whole BS that Asta is faster than lightspeed at base is total falsehoods. Asta has never moved faster than the speed of light in any form.
I binged Black Clover recently, so I saw every fight, and Asta is neither lightspeed, nor is he even remotely physically stronger than Deku.
If anything, Deku is the one that oughta have speedblitzed him.

I just want to say I appreciate the time you guys have put into this video, however you guys truly displayed Astas abilities as well as his combat strategicness, not only that but while his anti magic is less effective against non magic, it’s still a source of energy that can be seen cutting a literal castle city in half, so if you guys wanted to piss off a fan base you succeeded

According to the script and the animators, Deku died from over-exertion after that final punch, so it would have been a much better ending to have Asta realise that he was dead/dying, call off his attack, and let him land with some dignity, maybe even a "... D-did I do it? Did I win?" "Yeah kid, you got me. Good fight." and let him die peacefully rather than unknowingly stabbing his corpse several times over.

I just feel this isn't a proper representation of their abilities at the time this episode dropped. I was waiting for his other abilities to kick in. I did feel that was the correct representation of Asta, but I thought there was more to Deku and off we don't get that fight. I mean they did Superman v Goku Twice, and each time they both went through level ups and blabla. Now Superman bends time and space, Gokus body is independent of time and Space, WTF?!? Lol.
Guess we will need a Naruto v Ichigo Rematch at some point.
Please no, I can’t handle any more Anime VS rematches. The amount of people who still say Goku could beat Superman, despite at this point the two being closer to an even match than an absolute stomp is mind boggling.

It's very nice to see Deku being as smart and tactical as he can in the beginning, meanwhile Asta was very simplistic with his strategy "I just have to hit him really hard." Then towards the end Deku succumbs to that same simplistic by saying the exact same line.
The thing is that they mentioned asta being smart and in the anime it is shown and midoriya tends to rely on brute strength more often than not without a thought since the camp arc. They literally reversed the roles to give midoriya a chance and still midoriya is not enough
They made Asta seem dumb which is really wrong since he’s one of the best adaptors in a fight. He’s kinda like a saiyan in his own verse
The character development was so cool. I didn’t expect it in a death battle episode
and the finishing 3 sword execution was brilliant from asta's side

Outside of Death Battle, these two could have become great friends: both without powers and then it’s given to them unique skill for to realize their goals
That seems to be the case with a lot of Death Battle Match ups. Weiss and Mitsuru was another one I imagined that the two would be good friends
Since each combatant in a death battle has to have some sort of connection with each other, most hero vs hero battles would have them be friends.

He's actually physically stronger than Asta. He won the martial arts tournament in a year when the Z characters were not competing and did so legitimately without ANY knowledge of ki. So it's doubtful Asta would compete in a purely physical contest with Hercule. We also know that means he's default stronger than the guys in Dragon Ball tier... We can comfortably say he scales in power.
Fun fact: the ppl in discord confirmed that once deku's eyes turned white he already died. This is kind of sad thinking he won before he died. That's why when Asta stabbed him he didn't scream.
I was wondering when Deku was going to break since thats been a problem for him along with controling his powers . Asta on the other hand had very little trouble with breaking his own body.

I love how they mentioned float, gearshift and fa jin, but they were never used. It is true that asta wouldve won this fight either way, they still shouldve let both fighters use everything they had. And when did asta become zoro?

He uses Float in 16:03-16:09 and 17:29.
He’s enveloped in a yellow aura in 17:21 and 17:57. Which is similar to Boomstick’s example of FaJin in the analysis, with the stored kinetic energy being released while glowing yellow in 4:49 (this was before the Anime’s new red coloring for FaJin).
And 17:57 is GearShift included (it gives him a more radical eye aura to his normal 100% OFA when in use).
I love that Asta talks about Luck in this fight. Not only because of the similar fighting style, but because Deku and Luck are voiced by the same person.

They’re using feats to scale Deku from what appears to be the final battle for the series, and they didn’t even mention some of the nonsense Manga Asta got during the period they were making this. It really won’t change much except the collateral damage.
Despite that, I’d love a run back. I don’t think the results will change, but even I think Deku deserved a bit more respect going out than they gave him.

As someone completely unaware of Black Clover beyond the music, I really didn't expect this fight to go the way it did. I saw y'all bringing in Gear Shift for Deku and I was like "He's gotta have this, right?" and then I heard y'all mention Asta dodging lasers in his sleep and I was like "Oh no."
I dont think that was a good one they should have used another instance in a fight where he actually dodges light beams

I'm kind of glad they didn't really show Gear Shift in the fight because mentioning Gear Shift but not mentioning Zetten is a bit unfair, since they were introduced at the same time. Zetten is a Ki based ability that can boost Asta's physical stats 100 fold

technically there was, Horikoshi drew Black Clover characters in his style, and Tabata drew My Hero Academia characters in his style too, this is due to them being great buddies

No matter what way you argue this, the power ceilings of the universes are too different for this fight to ever be fair. You could make a legitimate argument that the black bulls wipe the whole MHA universe, if not Asta alone.
Yes and no. clover-verse is a power scaling universe with magic as the center, which is why anti-magic + STR like Asta was able to curbstomp enemies. MHA has such a wide variety os quirks, there's one that's bound to stop Clover fighters either peer to peer, or individual. Deku's quirks are not it though.
Infact if the situation was set up right, they could keep finding quirkless people and pass down the OFA power until it WAS strong enough.

On top of that I'd argue that they're on average way faster than MHA, like Deku outspeeding Asta in this DB seems like a severe downplay to me.
Plus a number of them can teleport, and not just themselves.
Plus they have support members that can heal and restore magic.
And miles wide sensory abilities.
Along with fate/causality manipulation that can protect them in literally impossible ways, automatically.
Even if AFO could just be passed around like that with no issue to become some potentially omnipotent ability, who is going to be able to master it? How would they get the time?

I mean, Asta should have stomped harder, but you left out multiple of Deku’s abilities in the fight. We know he has the ability to maintain damage on his body using black whip as well as has the ability to multiply both his speed and power using Gearshift. He also always has access to 100% at all times and can use over 100% with Fa Jin without backlash. I don’t think this would have changed the outcome much, but it seems very negligent to leave these out.
