Ppl dont understand that its the low end thats eating up your mix if your limiter is pumping and you want more loudness just take some low end out of your kick because you prob over did it anyway
Send your drums to 2 tracks. One track you use soft clipper and saturation on and maybe some compression. Then send both of those tracks to a bus track and that track will have a limiter on it for the drum peaks. This is the way ive found to get the fattest drums with little to no headroom change Sending the high percs to a flanger and blending that flanger in with the main sound can have a spacious addition without clouding the mix like a reverb would.
do drums include 808 in there ?? my track only have 808 and drum percs in it , no kick drum , so will the 808s are kick drum now ? if it is , should i use this same technic or i need some adjustment ?
@@NARXOVERHERE Yes, you can include the 808 in there; it will give it a nice saturation and will shave off the peaks if you use a soft clipper and like the effect it does! or use a compressor before the Clipper to glue everything together and then clip it afterwards if you want. Since a compressor won't catch all peaks, you can get some db headroom out of it without a big sacrifice in transients and then just push the loudness with a limiter.
Upset cause I JUST started doing this a couple months ago but I had to figure it out on my own 😂 When you tame all your peaks BEFORE they get to the mix bus it's a whole lot easier to get loudness!
I look at it as making preheadroom. Audio Engineering foreplay if you will. (No freaky). You broke this down really well though, years of experience in 15 minutes
Would you use a bus before this for some Eq and glue compression or are you using the god particle to glue it? What about tape saturation before this bus too or would that be overkill?
Weird question. You ever import the stems to a beat into your project but the transient is off a little from the instrumental. The tempo is perfect for both the 2 track beat and the stems to the beat yet the transients to the stems from the beat are a little off compared to the 2 track… how do you fix this? Just try and move the stems as close as you can to the transient of the 2 track you recorded the vocals over??
Nah, @helpmedevvon please explain to me where the camera setup is! What lens is that a 11mm? How far away is it positioned? Need a studio tour follow up
7:08 You're wrong about the no limiter on the god particle. The plugin loads up with 5 db limiter (second knob on the bottom set at 12 oclock just like you have it), so the difference you showing here isnt gain matched to give any valuable information. At least thats how I perceive mixing - your opinions should be based on hearing what it actually does gain matched and not just hearing the (+5db!) louder version.
You know what else helps having your drums louder? Not lowering the faders. The drums are not at 0. R clap is at like -24. That's why it sounds like. Raise the fader and watch the volume go up.
@@Durkhead he probably has the drum bus sent to a reverb, which I do as well. It’s not really a difference that you’re going to notice down the line. If anything it makes it breath more, that level of reverb will translate very well in the mix.
@@jonathancrowell4648 its also gona bring up the cymbols more too so there might be a part where theres different cymbols in your song like a crash cymbol for example and it can make them super loud

I was just thinking a similar thought. Can the same effect be achieved via parallel compression?
I think this is New York compression
Hard clipping on drums is better

Hard Clipping the Drum Bus is really nice esp with Kazrog or Gold Clip. Makes Kicks way tighter and more controlled

thanks bro. love this kinda content. quick, useful tips to help my mix.
2:01 the drums actually come alive with the technique 🔥🔥🔥
u breaking down the good stuff. i still don’t understand limiters all the way but this helps a lot.
How I miss your covers my guy, they got me thru college 🙏🏿
Thank you Devvon!
Bro is never late with them dual weilding watches. 🔥
Well done Devvon your a credit to society
This video and audio is on another level 🔥🔥
We need more tips like this!🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for the class!
makes sense, i hear it gives more open sound, interesting with the GP i wanna try that
I was just looking for something to open up my bass this may help imma try tonight
I actually accidentally landed on this technique last night. Didn't know how I arrived at it but now I know why I should.
this man can do no wrong!!! i aint got god particle so ima try slate digital heatwave and iztope excitier instead thx manggg

You can also use God Particle for a parallel send and smash it and blend it in with the original
I do this I crank to 200
@@SuperFake777you have zero beats on your channel😂😂
Zero beats on youtube channel 😂😂 🤔🤷♂️
Thanks for sharing this one. I also haven't thought of using TGP on the drum buss alone. shape the drums, then limit. good stuff!!!!
the ceilin is fire!
Whats with the two watches. Whats the second one for?
That shirt is dope! 😎

I needed this tip fr 💯🙏🏾
We know the god particle to he a mix bus plugin.. after using it on the dum bus, will you still use it on the stereo bus?
No need

Very Nice Keep putting out the knowledge plus I subscribed
Thanks Dev
Ceiling looks SICK!!! How did you do that?

What’s to him?

This is awesome!
Great advice.
Aye! Devvon with the Naruto drip!
You peeped!
if we're just limiting the kick peaks, what if we just lower the kick level down a bit then push the drum bus up?
I’m wandering how this would play in a New York Compression setup. Thanks for this. I need to start working my bus game a bit more.
2am new video

BRAVO!

I suggest you call Teezio invite him and grab some popcorn and watch the CTZ series from Baph and take notes!

So.. You limit the drum bus so it's loudness doesn't trigger the master limiter as much so that everything can get louder... got it, will try!
Gonna try dat right now
i saw teezio using the weiss limiter after god particle, does ozone limiter gives a better sound
or just use knock
Off topic what’s a good motherboard for music production?
Are you still running through your 2BUS+ or is this entire digital processing in the box? I have recently got 2BUS & AD+ and have a couple questions.
God Particle AND Ozone together? 😳
Thanks 🙏🏿 💪🏿✊🏿🎯
which yhamha speakers are those behind you is it hs5 ?
what if I am using a two track? could I put a limiter on the two track and then one or the mix bus?
Wonder if MV2 upward expansion can do the same as maximizer. Narrow the dynamic range, make the quieter drum sounds louder without affecting peaks
What’s the name of that limiter?

Is pretty much the same as clipping the drum buss?
Yeah you can either limit or clip, you get different sound/feel from both

drums at 0 would peak bro u need headroom for a clear perception with no distortion

dope
Yo fam how can I join your mixing class ? D m me back

my only problem is on phone speakers the high end on my vocal crackles around 3-8k but not on any other speaker please what do i do
Use saturater not a clipper or just take some low end out before you hit the limiter or parallel track with high pass

why's he wearing 2 watches though??

Yo, why do You sound so squashed Devon?
He even managed to compress himself with all this limiting
You gotta be careful doing this cause your bringing up a lot of reverb and your cymbols can get out of hand real quick.
Reverbs should be on sends, not drum channels, thus unaffected by drum bus effects.
