great vid! Also tip for everyone.. another reason why you can't make your master loud might be because it is too dynamic. If there are some elements that are jumping out too much those will start to distort first as you start to raise the gain within a limiter, thus not allowing you to raise gain that much. Key: Limit and compress your elements in the individual channels/buses before you even think about mastering ;)
Also: the better the balance of your mix is the louder your mix will be, because all of your mix's elements will be closer together in dynamic range, making it look like this big thick chunk of audio file, after that you can even soft clip that waveform and you'll get masters that will be able to reach -5 ...not really saying you should, -5 is way too loud, i recommend yall just stay at -14.
i love u
CTZ
Beautifully put
These tips are so valueable it's insane.

Another great one bro!! Thank you!!
Thank you for the class!
Very helpful Devvon. Confirmed a lot re: why our last mix was loud and distortion free. Thanks for sharing your wisdom
Great tips! Really getting your low end in order in the mix then adding all the clipping to get it loud latter on is the way to go. Thanks Devon!
thanks this literally solved my all time issue with my music. Always wondered why I'm not struggling with this loudness thing. your tutorial on loudness is the only one that really got me through with the issue, much appreciated!
needed this! 🐐
bro you have been an amazing resource just in the past week.
i'm always coming back to your videos but this one is actually the real secret sauce. Keep doing what you doing GOAT
Yo My Man GOD BLESS YOU So much Keep the Good work up 👍💪🏿💯
Man that fabfilter tipped just helped me a lot I noticed after doing that it’s like the vocals pop out a lil more and also the bass Is just flowing on it’s on which allowed it to be louder without distorting thanks 💪🏿😎
Thanks for that! 🙏🏽
This your best video yet man🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Another great video!. I had been putting a soft clipper after my limiter. I will definitely reverse those. Thank you!
As usual.....of the top....merci beaucoup 💯🎼🎵🎷

What a guy man, such an informative, excellent video bro, honestly you are an inspiration and a great teacher bro👏🏾 thankyou from me and everyone
Thanks for the knowledge :)
great tips bro as usual, thnx
Very helpful. Low-end is good but not always the best at the end. I'm still learning multi band compression. It's fun
Man you’re the REAL GOAT thank you fam frfr 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is GOLD !! Devvon you're a Legend my bro
Lavry Gold?
@@brentrichardaudio I'm more of a Prism Sound man myself tbh
Solid Gold!
It worked! I put the clipping limited in front of my brickwall limiter and easily hot -7 LUFS without distortion. You da man!
This is straight gold🌟🌟🌟🥇🥇🥇
Clipping me softly with his song, telling my whole life with his reverb.
Never a bad video out of you, Devvon!
its funny you say that because all his videos are bad and almost completely useless he talks and repeats himself 90% of the time. you probably think seeing his face 90% of the video is very helpful
@@David-hs1bu I didn’t come here to argue 🤷🏽♂️ I don’t care.
@@David-hs1bu 🤡
@@David-hs1bu let me see your video clown
U really the goat 🐐 I learned all my mixing tips from you bro also bought your studio rack bundle it’s the best investment I made
Excited to try that multiband compressor trick. I really struggle with loudness even though I saturate and limit my individual 808s, snares, kicks, the drum bus altogether, and then for mastering use a TRS Clipper. I also recently learned about crest factor and how crucial it is in terms of your peaks being as close to the RMS as possible. Most of my songs tend to sit in the -10 and -12 LUFS range but if I could get all of them to sit in just the -9 range I would be more than satisfied. It's kinda tricky as well because some of my songs work with just 2-track instrumentals instead of the full stems so I have to work around that as well.
He has a video on 2 track recording
fire 🔥🔥
thank you good sir
You are a genius thanks for this
Thank you brother
That’s so true what you said. The low end will eat up all your headroom. You’re going to go down in the annals of history as one of the best mixing instructor. One day we’ll do a song together. #LegendaryStatus
😀Thank you for a very well presented explanation on working on understanding how to achive a load controed audio mix in mastering a song regardless of the music style which can be applied to and type of mastering production.
legend bro never misses
DAMN THE LAST PART OF THIS TUTORIAL’S MY PROBLEM HAHA ‼️ YOU GOT ME
I looked at the comments to check the validity and after watching I can confirm this video is GOLD!!!!!! SUBBED
this guy is the GOAT. Now all you need to do is start online courses because I'm in need!!
Thnx
God bless you. Thank you
I was wondering why I could get more level when I muted my kick and bass. Wonderful video
NEVER FAILS .. BIG UPS
thank you
“The soft clipitting” 😂 never heard it like that before
That song sounded real noice fella
The track slaps
Just as I submitted my song.. lol Fye' though! 💣☝🏾 #blessings #peace #love
Hard bro
I think saturation is also huge. This is why analog studios make the big money. Their mixes can sound louder at -2db than your at home mix.
Great video devvon, very helpful! One question,
I’ve been doing some research on CTZ strategy. And it seems they use that on most bus/ audio tracks in the mixing stage.
So my question is, do you only use the soft clipper and limiter in the mastering stages only?
Also if there is a video of you walking through mixing a song yourself, I would love to watch it.
Thank you for your time.
We miss you broh!! 🙌🙌
Thx Dev!!
“Control ur low end!”
Free game. U sir are a 🐐
Yes
This is dope u deserve the best ever. But nxt make a tutorial on how to correct pitch in protools coz sometimes autotune does'nt sound on maybe an artist did it off so how to correct it in protools and which plugin is good at pitch correction ?
I would highly recommend Melodyne, and Waves Tune Real-Time is also a good one. All the best.
That song is dope dude lol
As we say in Kenya 'Zengio' Thank you!
Devon!!!
When you said "du du du du du du" I felt that 🤣
This 'Rulers of the night' track is a goddamn banger!
Would love to see a updated version of how u master
💯💯
"Do not get married to me bumping it up this high"😂😂😂
Very valuable information! I got a question, where do you get reference tracks? RUclips? I have Spotify and Apple Music but I don’t know how to download high quality references besides RUclips
Can you make a series using izotope plugins?
Good looking out. Are you going to get back to mixing on twitch again?
Great advice Homie is the L3 limiter from wave good?
LIT
GOAT
I noticed you didn’t have to touch the gain or clip sliders on the left-is your signal at the perfect level going in?
I always end up adjusting the clip ceiling because I’m way down around -16 or so. Does it make any real difference doing it this way vs adjusting the clip ceiling to meet the lower gain?
Devon The Great
Yessir!!
