Even if they had to catch the fish ahead of time, and stash them.

I was going to be that guy and point out that the co-angler removes life jacket before boat motor operation has stopped. Most clubs have a dq rule for safety along those lines.
@@andrewmechelke8209 most tournaments I fish you have to have your life jacket on while boat is on plane. If it was while big motor is on, most people would be DQ just loading and unloading off the trailer to the dock.
This was bad ass loved it when I was a kid my dad had a 20ft bullet with a 235 Johnson it was fast nothing like this but I grew up on that boat and my dad out ran all of his buddies with it some of my best memories
I used to open up the air box on my V8s to hear the induction roar, not sure it went harder but, it sounded good. The things we do and wonder why our wives give us strange looks....they just dont understand boy stuff.
Oh yea... I got a 12/32 fish master that runs 6mph wit a 1972 Johnson 4hp! I'm living on the edge with 5" of freeboard with a full 6 gallon tank! And I only fill that sumbitch 2 times a season!
I still prefer a 18.5 ft boat with a 150 on the back. 60 MPH if I needed it 38 MPH standard cruising speed and small enough to navigate through the stump fields with ease. I've never felt like I lost a tournament because of the extra 5 minutes it takes me to go 30 miles.
Candid X You kidding I remember 50 hp Merc biggest boat motor & when 85 V-4 OMC or Evinrude came out. Big deal. Still funny the arguments who made best boat motor Johnson or Rude ! They were both OMC just Different Paint Color ! Ha... Some would fight ya over that ?

We had one ass clown complaining his coil pack cut out and his speed dropped down below 40 mph. That was in a fun tournament where every boat has 2 kids under 17 in it and it's on a river that's maybe a half mile wide at it's widest. We were getting passed 4 wide by guys doing 50 mph so they could beat everyone 4 or 5 miles up the river. I would buy a boat like that but I can't afford the diesel truck with the 14 inch lift kit.
Won a tourny in a 16' glasstream with a 75hp Mariner once. Can't believe how much shit I got for that. When I'd had ENOUGH, I dropped my shorts, slapped my ass, and yelled KISS THIS!!...... A round of applause followed. Damn,.... They weren't that bada fellas after all.
That's why those engines have Roller bearings on the mains and rods and wrist pins, so they can handle the high rpms for a continued run. When you hear those ridiculous Jet boats with the Big Blown V-8s, they can only hold high rpms for a short burst, then have to back off or they'll Self Destruct, only friction bearings in those....
I caught more and bigger bass from a 10' jon and a 13'/10hp than from my Ranger, HydraSports or my partner's Skeeter combined. This isn't about fishing, it's about competing.
Mercury motors, when they run,they run good. But my 96 200 has went through 2 head gaskets,I have to beat the shit out of the ecu with my net handle to get it to work,trim went out, and now what I thought was a spun prop was actually some lower unit fuckery.i believe my next boat will have a yammy
Bullet makes a fine and beautiful boat and Mercury builds a great outboard. The man has serious driving skills but STILL that is to fast for water that has other boats on it. Slower traffic is put in danger is my point. Not a hater , I just recognize the obvious. Be safe and catch a bagful and let everyone live to see it.
Every tournament starts with a DRAG RACE... You have to be the first one to where they're NOT biting. Now I fish when I want to fish and it isn't a JOB anymore.

depends on the load and conditions and what prop i'm running. Short run tournaments i use different props then long runs. Short run tournaments ill run 93-95mph, long run tournaments 100-102mph. I'm running all lithium batteries now and did a few more mods to the motor and boat. I'm hoping for faster this year.
Funny story , my first experience at a bass tournament with a small V- hull Glassmaster with a 50 on the back , at the start of the race the rooster tails from the high powered boats just about swapped my boat , we were lucky we had put our soft top on or would have drowned in the process! 😂
