Is a man whore who bangs anything with 2 legs and doesnt really care when they die. Seriously, the books work because they're a detective noir story and oh yeah Harry is a Wizard. the TV show tried to go "He's a wizard and oh yeah he's a P.I." didnt work. Though, if the TV show had followed the books as close as this trailer, it would have been epic.

Why weren't the people making these trailers put in charge of making the TV series?
OMG. I know Mr. Butcher puts a positive spin on the TV Show. And truth be told, it was the TV show that brought me to the books and I devoured every one that was out up till then. But once I finished and was waiting for the next book I was like "Hockey stick? Did they switch Murphy with Susan? You had a great Bianca, why didn't you use her right? Did they actually read the books. They got the jist of Storm Front right, what happened to everything else?" I kinda-sorta understood about Bob, but still. . . This story can't be told on basic cable, this needs HBO or Showtime treatment and needs to follow the books per season with writers who don't have to rely on the author to finish anything to keep going. Then again, there are now 17 books, I think they have enough material.
Imho I'd prefer a PC game. A full-blown adventure with cinematics and built-in videos like Starcraft, Warcraft or Diablo. I don't care whether it's an rpg or real-strategy, something inside me screams "It must be done". If such game is made, the whole series will become legendary. Generations of players will buy books and read them. Or else it can be made into TV series, of course.
@@Raiseflag_Surrender If we're talking games then personally I think the series is screaming for a point and click adventure game. The books are pretty procedural at first with their little ties so it'd translate perfectly to a game per case slowly building up just like the books did.
I love the books, but aside from a half decent budget for a book trailer, the casting in this is not all that great, the performances are... mixed. That quality of the shots is also wildly inconsistent. All in all it's okay for what it is, but I would not have any confidence in this team working on a bigger budget series without serious oversight, and an entirely new cast.
@@realtsavo Okay, then let's just give the producers and set designer control a TV show? cinematographers and cameramen can be hired, screenplay writers can be hired, and actors can be found, but people who cared about the source material and can come close to a look and feel of a licensed property are hard to come by.
This needs to be a TV/ movie series because the trailers are god damn amazing

Every Dresden File book led up to this one book. What a wild read. By the time Molly used Welcome To The Jungle as the intro to her army entering the field, my imagination was so engaged that I could see and hear that shit. Awesome work, Mr. Butcher. Thank you

Priscilla, these are the best book trailers that I've ever seen. You perfectly captured Dresden's snark (...little A apocalypse!). It just turned my excitement level up to 11. I hope major studios and content providers are paying close attention to this. These trailers are a testament that a Dresden Files series is not only viable, but can be very compelling to a very broad base audience. I'm just excited about all this. Damn it!!

But there is some sound theory stuff that messes with our perception of it so that might not be the case.

There is something very satisfying about having now read the book and coming back to the book trailer and UNDERSTANDING what is going on.

I had a couple moments where I wanted to punch Jim. What Rudolph did and what Ethnui showed Dresden toward the end. I vote we hunt Jim down and shave his head in retaliation. Loved the book but why must he be so cruel?
These trailers are great- even without Hollywood budget of SFX, I know exactly who each character is and exactly what scene from the books is being portrayed. Get these guys a movie deal!
After reading the book I can see the amount of effort you made getting the details right! Like Ethniu stepping underneath the doorway!
Didnt get he colour Harry's staffs magic right though did they. Its green & gold like Demonreachs, no longer blue when he was young or red when he was under Lasceils umbrella. And she his.

I just finished Battle Ground... I have to admit, I actually cried. I just relistened to the previous audiobooks so I should have seen it coming. The ending was a nice touch to leave the listener a little less emotionally drained.
Can't wait for the next level of this epic masterpiece.
We need an HBO level show! Maybe 17+ seasons is too long but we need at least 8 - 10 seasons! Whoever plays Harry needs to be young enough to last that long.
As I read/listen to the series, I have a TV show in my head.
A show could compress the timeline adequately, where a clump of books would take place over several months rather than several years, and a year passes between seasons or half-seasons.
Books 1-5 (with some of Side Jobs) are Season 1. Establish Harry as a wizard P.I., Murphy as skeptic, start the Red Court War
Books 6-9 (with some of Side Jobs and Brief Cases) are Season 2. Bookends with entry and exit of Lash, Murphy is now a believer, expand characters of Thomas, Molly, and Butters.
Books 10-12 (with some of Brief Cases) and are Season 3. Black Council intrigue, conclude Red Court War, end on one of the best cliffhangers a show could ever have.
Books 13-17 (with some of Brief Cases) are Season 4. Intersperse the ghost shenanigans with other characters response to Changes in the interim, expand on the Fomor's role..
I watched both of these trailers when they were released, then listened to the books, gave it a year or so and then relistened the whole series again. And let me just say that these trailers are so much more incredible after having read/listened to the books. The amount of tiny details that's included from the books to the screen is really, really good

Freaking amazing trailer! My heart beat rate went through the roof as I watched it.
Looks like an interesting storyline. Can't wait to get my hands on the book!..and shame trailer was better acted than the short lived TV series, though I still don't find the title character believable as Harry. Neither appearance or personality ( granted, actor only had short clips) would have been identifiable as Harry. The actress portraying Murphy was great though, even in that short clip, both attitude and look made her instantly identifiable to anyone who has read the books.Think she would be a "must-add" to the cast if ever the opportunity arises to give the show another shot!!!!!!! Great Trailer :-)

Honestly, this book was AMAZING! It was exactly like what would happen if you could transform a high-octane action movie into a book.

That was a fantastic trailer. Well cast and pretty much everyone was immediately recognizable. I can't believe I've been reading the Dresden Files for 20 years!
As for Battle Ground, the revelations, non-stop action, epoch battles, and powerful emotions made it very difficult to put down. I just hope it doesn't take another 5 years for the next book.
This was awesome and extremely well done! Very cool! I hadn’t really seen a trailer for a book before, so when I saw the one for “Peace Talks”, I didn’t quite know what to make of it. It’s an adjustment seeing an actor interpret a character you’ve been reading about for many years. Having said that, you guys nailed it with this trailer! Not to say that your “Peace Talks” trailer wasn’t a great achievement, it just took some getting used to personally. You captured the scope of the story and the voice and look of the characters perfectly here. Bravo!

Ah man, I just finished book seventeen and the short Christmas story afterwards. I can't wait for the next installment it's so damn good. Also this is proof that the Dresden Files CAN be an entertaining and epic television series. Or even animated if done correctly. It's just way too good. So many punches.
Also screw Rudolph. I want to see what happens to him after this latest installment.

I've been reading The Dresden Files since I was 16. That's 14 years, I've read #1=10 at least 2 times. Some of the characters on her were decent (Murphy, Mab, Marcone) but Jason Bernardo is not the Harry Dresden we need. Jim, if you're readying this. A video game for the Dresden Files is what we need.

ok I did not film my reaction but after reading both battle grounds and peace talks, watching the tv show and thinking about it. This should be the next HBO mini series. You both captured the feel and the weight of the books. I sat here with my mouth and eyes wide open. It is if you took a look into my brain and made it real. Thank you both for what was made/ casted/ directed/ written.

Still waiting for a Dresden Files TV or film series that is faithful to the books.
Maybe a series of films, but Hollywood would just ruin them anyhow, and you know it. Thet ruin everything lately.
Did anyone see "Spot the Cameo" Jim Butcher in the credits?
I saw that line but I couldn't spot Jim.
Only guess is that they imposed his face on the fire on the far right building at the start of the trailer, either that or that's Jim at the top of the corpse pile at Ethniu's feet . . . hard to tell
I think he's in the bar but half his face is covered by someone's elbow.
It's either the bar scene, but most of his face is covered (I still think I recognize his hair style behind them), or he's on top of the pile of corpses that Ethniu is standing on. It's really hard to tell.
I thought he was at Ethniu's feet on the pile of bodies. You can see his head just off her left foot.
Just finished the book. That was a roller coaster. Well done doing it justice here. 🙂

So happy they are both coming out this year. Trying my best to avoid spoilers on the first couple chapters that have come out but damn this was an awesome trailer. Best one yet in my opinion! Proof that a movie or tv show reboot is a great idea!
