- Dresden Files author Jim Butcher spoke to us at Dragon Con 2024 to discuss his various book series, losing a bet, and his Star Wars fandom.
Jim Butcher is the author of the highly popular Dresden Files series, which was turned into a Syfy television series for one fun but painfully only season. He has also authored the Codex Alera series, which came about because of a bet and his latest work is the Cinder Spires series. He also wrote Spider-Man: The Darkest Hours. From Missouri, he dreamed of writing Tolkien-style fantasy until he wrote Storm Front, the first of the Dresden Files, to prove his professor wrong. And then hatched plans for 19 more books in the series.

Jim, sir, I am so happy you did this interview. Thank you. Made my whole day
A brilliant author!!!
Hardly wait for his next publication.
The Cinder Spires are absolutely blowing me away so far Jim!, amazing characters and setting, loving it even more than Dresden and co.
Sholy hit!, I started the Lord of the Rings at the same age for the same reason!, and the Alan Dean Foster novels!
As a guy with severe back issues I feel for you. I am lucky though no severe problems for over a year. Keep active, but limit activity that could cause problems.
Glad ot hear about a new Dresden Book!
Awesome! Glad I didn't miss this. Dresden Files are in my top 2 series and would love to see Jim do more Spider Man, really enjoyed that book also.
I bought Storm Front randomly at an airport over 15 years ago. Best decision ever! Also Jim is looking buff! Good for him 💪🏾
I'd love to see a Dresden files movie,
I am losing my mind with joy
I will die on the hill that codex and cinders is the same world just different times and we will see some cross over
Much respect for the Babylon 5 name drop :)
I keep hoping for a codex show.. but only if Jim were hands-on, so it would stay true.
Well that would explain why there hasn't been any progress on Dresden in a fat minute
James Marsters is too short to be Harry. His height is constantly mentioned as a big part of his look. Angel towered over Spike, and Boreanaz is "only" 6'1"
Never heard Jim comment on Disney Wars, glad to hear him dump on them as they so rightly deserve.
I hope he finishes Dresden before I die. Glad to hear him say he is ramping up speed again.
the microphone cracks are unbearable. Please, learn the technical "stuff" before being that much happy with yourself.
Or maybe you need new headphones or speakers...
@@FandomSpotlite yikes
@@FandomSpotlite said the guy with one squeaky microphone for a two-person talk.
You're talking to Jim Butcher, an author putting an enormous amount of care in his work, and your effort is "good enough' ?
My bad, I shouldn't even try to reason with your ego. Of course the problem's my headphones. Of course.
@@ashitaka3535 I can't hear any crackling soooooooooooooooooooooooo, yeah seems like a you problem
@@Robopup325 Nope, the crackling sound is there. Doesn't bother me that bad, but I watched hazy antenna tv in the boonies in the 80s, so it takes a lot to take me out of things. Constructive criticism could've been less abrasive, and the response could've been more professional. Hope Mr. Butcher's back gets better.
