Let me drop a fun fact that is decadal old by now. They have always kneeled on the floor when a fellow member and friend is highlighted in old-school solo-live fashion. Heck, I have seen Kanami walk up to Miku and sit down as moral support and the entire band sit down on stage while Akane is going ham on the drum set. Look at Kanami and Misa kneeling during the conversation they are having right. It is not a battle - it is a conversation as they are listening to the arguments being exchanged musically.

Miku was going to meet Kanami initially. Kanami brought Akane who brought Misa. They realized they needed a rock voice that Saiki brings. The stars aligned and we are the beneficiaries.
And an equally honourable mention goes to Kanami's descending solo flourishes just before the start of the final chorus. Awesome.😌👌

Gary, ANYTHING Kanami's does is always an honorable (screw the "u") mention. Especially the "little swingy arm dance thingy". So cuteable. It's always an honor to mention it. 🥰
dont get me wrong, i adore all 5 of these ladies, they are all top tier musicians, but when they want to make the big splash, they pull the 2 monsters in from the corners and say: Akane will give you a foundation and you 2 turn it loose. They are all so good that there is none of this rock star ego crap about 1 maybe 2 people carrying the band, this is, in my opinion, the reason that they have managed to keep the original line up for 10 yrs, which is quite unusual for any type of band. Great reaction and LONG LIVE THE MAIDS
There's no doubt the best metal and rock is coming out of Japan, with the all female bands leading the way.
MISA's lead basslines add an Awesome layer to their music that many rock bands just don't have. Unique and blends so well with the songs. Then add her coolness as a visual. The whole aesthetics of BAND-MAID (sight and sound) is so pleasing to me that I get a little pissed off when someone doesn't like them. But you can't say I didn't try and convert as many as possible. To each his own as they say. I love mine. Peace. 1.08

Excellent analysis and comments of Band-Maid's banger of a song "Hate?". It's a tour de force of the awesome skill and composition expertise of this incredible group of truly elite musicians before a wildly enthusiastic audience of devoted fans that is so satisfying on so many levels. IMHO, Band-Maid are the Queens of Rock.

Saiki wrote the lyrics after a friend of hers was cheated on during the lockdowns. It's supposedly her friend Lisa who is also a singer whose husband cheated on her. And Saiki finding out plus reading in the news about other cheaters, she wrote the lyrics to Hate?. And she pulls no punches.
The Bass/Lead Guitar duel during the bridge, isn't in the studio version, but I think the Ladies should record it with the duel and re-release it. I bet it would rocket up the charts.
Kanami had not yet seen the lyrics when she put together the music for this. But she said she got the mental impression of an explosion.
I put it down to her empathy, feeling Saiki's emotional state at the time. Both lyrics and music blend and support each other perfectly.
THE best band in the history of bands. And before that.
“Hate?” Seems to be your favorite so far…we shall see how long this lasts 😂 Band Maid brings it with every song.

I think I have a "love *'Hate?'"* relationship with Band-Maid.
You’ve earned my subscription, sir! What an excellent analysis, touching on every band member, and every part of the song. Of course the back and forth between Misa and Kanami is a signature moment but I’d encourage new Band Maid listeners to put headphones on and they’ll discover that they are both very active throughout every song. So much so that I sometimes think a solo is a break for them! And they should also realize how talented all the Maids are then, combined, they are a force of nature that’s rare in rock music. At least that’s how I see it from my 50+ years of listening.

Every Band-Maid track is worth listening to at least once while you focus on Akane: yep, she's heavy and driving, but there is so much subtly to what she does. During the MISA-Kanami conversation, Akane has a different set of fills and flourishes for each musical section, that perfectly fits what they are up to: masterful musicianship that underpins the virtuosity of this truly force-of-nature band.
You'll have to admit ... these chic's are pretty cool! 🤘

This performance will be legendary. Thanks for checking this out and for the review. Good comparison to Billy Sheehan. I have long considered MISA to be Sheehan's closest rival as greatest rock bassist in the world.

Some of my favorite live Band-Maid songs to try are Onset, Moratorium, play, real existence, take me higher, freedom, no god. Other great songs that are cool MVs are Dice, Blooming, Rinne, Warning, Choose Me, Shambles, the non fiction days, yolo, and many more great songs
