A lot of Band-Maid’s later stuff is complicated and it can take a few listens to come to grips. This song immediately struck me. Just so well composed. Even the tempo seems spot on.
Don't worry too much. While you are learning their names and how they are pronounced, we are still getting the benefit of your technical knowledge. We all had to get up to speed with their names and roles. We thought you would like "From Now On" because of their technical skills -- and it is a great composition. To see Saiki as well, try "Blooming" ... and everything else. They have a small number of instrumentals, to give Saiki a break during concerts. "Play" (live) is a great example of an instrumental where Saiki wanted to join in, so they added a singing part (at least, that is the story I heard).
MISA did wear a maid outfit when the band first started, but she was uncomfortable wearing it. She eventually created her own style, "the barefoot assassin" outfit. Saiki, the lead vocalist was not happy about wearing a maid costume, she also changed her style. The rest of the Maid/s stuck with the costume, but in recent years have altered their maid outfits a bit (with the exception of Miku, who founded the band) "Thrill" was their first official music video. It's the video that saved them as a band and in the video, all of the Maids wear a maid costume.
Initially, they all wore similar maid outfits. They've changed their outfits almost every year and designed their outfits to fit each personality. At their Yokohama Arena concert (Nov. 2023), they showed us their newest outfits. During the MC time, Saiki said "I'm not sure if I can call my new outfit as a maid costume anymore"🤔😅😁
Thanks for the reaction and comments. Don't ever apologize for pausing to inject a comment. We are here to hear your thoughts about these ladies and their music. They are Uber in all the best possible ways and certainly my ICHIBAN when it comes to rock bands performing today. Looking forward to your next reaction video. Cheers!
Great reaction and analysis on your part, no worries on the names, it will take a bit. For starters - Kanami (kah-nah-mee) - lead guitar Miku (mee-koo) - rhythm guitar and vocals Misa (mee-sah) - bass Akane (ah-kah-nay) - drums and last but not least Saiki (sigh-kee) - lead vocals
This band single handedly rejuvenated my love for music again. The writing and musicianship is second to none. 10 years of music with over 130 songs and a new album ready to release. I have had the fortunate chance to see them live and being a drummer....this is the tightest band you will ever hear. They concerts feel like they invited you to their practice facility and interact with you. Hope you enjoy the ride like I do !!!!
By the way, your stutter is barely noticeable. Congratulations on your courage to do a podcast on something you truly love. I see the guitars in the background. Your technical analysis is VERY much appreciated. Keep it up!!!!!
Agree. My favorite all time athlete, hockey player Dave Taylor had a extremely prominent stutter. He still gave post game interviews and spoke all the time. It was inspiring because of his self belief and courage. You are in that mold. Subscribed.
Hi and thanks for the reaction and your thoughts! It is Miku the rhythm gitarrist who plays the EVH 5150. Kanami plays a Mesa Boogie rectifire. I am a great fan of this little bass "solo". MISA could have shredded the hell out of her bass, but she put it "simple" and created a masterpiece of an interlude that fits perfectly in the song, added dynamic and is a great starting point for the build up that follows. Greetings from Germany.
And down the Pigeon Hole we go. Few things make me more happy than to see genuine music lovers and musicians finding Band-Maid. Welcome to the Maidiac family bud. I'm sure everyone else has already filled you in pretty well so I'll spare ya lol. God bless
Thank you. For me..Kanami Tōno, lead guitarist and composer, is the most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Pure genius as a composer and true Rock n’ Roll Star on stage. She is The Special One 🔥🤘❤️ Lovin Band-Maid 💥🤘🔥❤️
She is an incredible guitarists, so many dynamics being used that i havnt heard since bands like motley crue. They are all very skilled musicains, even the rythym guitar is done in such a pin point way
Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they’re writing and recording for their new album! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, VC!
@@VacancyCrowning Yeah, I stumbled onto Band-Maid in 2014 and haven't looked back since. The only days I missed listening to them at home or in my car, etc. were the times I went to their concerts! Looking forward to your next Band-Maid reaction!
Thanks VC for continuing with BAND-MAID. I like your analysis. You will no doubt love some of the complex yet melodic offerings from this band. I cannot in good conscious recommend any other band currently out there. Check out these Awesome BAND-MAID MV's: BLOOMING, WARNING, INFLUENCER, RINNE. A power ballad titled DAYDREAMING. A Live instrumental ONSET-LIVE. And many many more. Peace. 1.97
And "Don't You Tell Me" is rather good too i hear. But i'm going to ask for a reaction to "Rinne" MV & say i'm Roger cos that hasn't had much of an outing recently :)
Hi ... do not appologize ... we are here for your opinions and your thoughts ... and if the names come out wrong ... we fans know who you are talking about ... had lots of fun with your thoughts ... go ahead with it ... Thank you
THE best Hard Rock band in the universe. And in any parallel ones too. Their 1 hour show at Lollopalooza 2023 is on YT where they used FROM NOW ON as their first song - quite incredible seeing them perform this complex and fast song perfectly live.
Interviewer: Maid outfits aren’t exactly rock ‘n’ roll. What is your ultimate heavy metal costume? MIKU “Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!” Interviewer: What’s the meaning of the name “BAND MAID”? MIKU: I used to work at a maid cafe, and I thought “I want a band!” So it became BAND-MAID - maids in a band! Interviewer: How did BAND-MAID come together? Did any of you know each other before joining the band? KANAMI: MIKU was looking for members to be in BAND-MAID. I was approached to join the band, and then I brought my friend, the drummer AKANE, with me. Then, AKANE brought her friend, the bassist MISA. So the instrumental performers were all gathered through connections between musicians. After that, our vocalist SAIKI joined through an audition. (more to that part - she was tricked into wearing the maid outfit! - SAIKI hates frilly aprons!) Interviewer: Since all five girls are cute, each of them has a different character. Those who want to see idols perform can also enjoy (each character individually). MIKU: NO!! Not just for one of them, all of them together! Japanese Interviewer: Kuruppo(MIKU), you are a pretty good tactician. Clever! You thought of it. You really formed the band you wanted, right? MIKU: It's a Miracle! SAIKI: That's right! This was Part 2 of the TV interview - ruclips.net/video/YzWETTu-4iE/видео.html
You did a great job. Don’t worry you almost got the names right. Maidiacs will teach you the pronunciation! Keep doing BM and we will be there with you!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live four times with this MV quality and tightness in Japan and dropped my jaw four times 😲. I believe so did many of American audience in their recent three US tours. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄
If you watch Kanami on stage during a live there are times where she goes into the "Mincho Mode" where she completely zones out and it's just her and her guitar and everything else disappears, it's like she's no longer conscious of her surroundings or what she does when she zones and yet she is completely in tune with everything that's going on around her. There are times when she has to ask her band mates how the gig went and what she was doing
The maids are definitely gear heads, especially Akane, Misa, and Kanami. Akane loves to window shop drums and cymbals, but is sponsored by TAMA and uses Zildjian. Wincent makes Akane Hirose signature drumsticks. She is a master of drum tone. Misa plays Black Cloud Basses. They build a Misa spec signature model. She did use Orange amplifiers but has recently switched to Aguilar cabinets. Kanami Tono plays a variety of PRS guitars through her pedal board. She had been using a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier amp but has recently adopted a Bogner amplifier to extend her tone. Miku has an extensive collection of Zemaitis guitars including her "Flappy Pigeon" signature model that she helped Zemaitis design. Miku is the one plugged into the EVH 5150. Miku learned to play under Kanami's tutelage and she takes Kanami's advice about her rig.
They have 3 other solely instrumental tracks which are amazing cled "Don't Be Long," "Onset," and "Without Holding Back." They also have a few "white room" videos with instrumental only versions of some of their songs. But I think you should check out live. Onset is a good one for instrumental, as there is an official live and jas some interesting time changes. Also, Manners/Black Hole may be of interest. But for a pure all-out banger, it's hard to beat Real Existence official live.
@@VacancyCrowning not often, though you will think they do more often than they actually do. Akane (drummer and gorilla) is a master at tempo changes disguised as time signature changes, and Mincho (Kanami, lead guitar and main composer) likes to use fluctuating themes on 4/4 (like 3/3/2s for 2 measures) to fool us.
Welcome back to the world of the Maid! We fans (Maidiacs) are excited to go along with you on this journey. “From Now On” is the song that completely changed my attitude towards Band Maid. They went from simply interesting to important in the grand scheme of things. Please stop and comment as much as you like. Band Maid is renowned for their variety; for their fearless songwriting. The more you give likes and dislikes, the easier it is to make suggestions. I’m hearing your ear for details and layers. Composition, dynamics, and arrangement. Please consider: “Blooming,” OMV. Power pop punk progressive rock with arguably one of the most beautiful bridges ever recorded. “Secret MY Lips,” official video. Here, a completely unexpected bridge transition inside of more driving, riff-based hard rock “DICE,” OMV. Hair metal progressive. And one of their best examples of their arrangement style. Verse. Prechorus with interesting chord choices. Uplifting chorus. Reinvented, not copied second verse…bass feature handoff to guitar feature…unexpected ending. Leaving everyone wanting more Enjoy your discovery 🤘🏽
Hi, Don't worry about the pronunciation of their names, it will come. And definitely, don't apologize for your stuttering. Great reaction. If you want to see a portion of their versatility, watch the video of "Manners" and "Blackhole", which is a doubleheader they released, where they played live in an online concert during the pandemic. Here is the link ruclips.net/video/iaf94nNSRGE/видео.html Keep up the good work. Cheers from France Laurent
Great reaction. Band Maid had a very large catalog of songs in many styles. Onset is another instrumental banger and Don't you tell me official live is a wonderful song. It is from the same concert as the Hate official live. Rock on 🤘
@rogerchance9074 Hey i'm putting it on a t-shirt, i've already done a cool liquid metal guitar design & everything. If you want to see it i can get your email from Dave & send you a pic?
Enjoyed your reaction! Romanized Japanese names use Italian vowel pronunciation, same as most musical terms and other Romance languages. Say Akane as if it were written in italics on sheet music 🙂
Introducing The Band... Misa [mee-sah] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar Her nickname comes from an interview where the host was saying that she was not wearing a maid outfit and Miku spoke up stating that it was an assassin maid outfit, along with the fact that Misa goes barefoot on stage. Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder Her nickname comes from her chosen last name Kobato, which literally means small pigeon. Akane [aah-kah-neh] (Gorilla) - Drums Her nickname comes partially from her love of eating bananas. She almost always snacks on one during their long okyu-ji (servings, concerts) which routinely last well over 2 hours. Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan or Ice Queen) - Lead Vocals Fans called her the Ice Queen early on because she was very stoic and showed little emotion. She has evolved to be quite expressive now. The band just call her Sai-Chan. Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho or Princess) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter Fans called her Princess because of her infatuation with Saiki. When she introduces herself onstage she says "Please call me Mincho". (meen-cho) Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, and Don't You Tell Me. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it! By the way... Kanami has said that she plays all of the guitar parts on the studio albums, including the parts that Miku plays at the live shows.
@@wanderleyjesus6772 Correct. Miku has become quite good at playing rhythm guitar during the live shows, especially considering that she didn't know how to play guitar when she formed the band.
June 12th in Japan BAND MAID & THE WARNING are playing a show together for the first time.. You need to experience THE WARNING .. 3 Sister's from Mexico who are the best Rock trio on the planet today . try HELL YOU CALL A DREAM LIVE AT THE PEPSI CENTER CDMX or THE WARNING "EVOLVE" LIVE AT THE 2023 MTV VMA's . if you haven't seen these sister's you're missing out.. they all sing (in English) They absolutely Rock.. 🤘🎶✌️
I can only speak for myself when I say that Band-Maid is a band of exceptional musicians that is loved by musicians. I congratulate you with your efforts to learn the members names and try and pronounce them. If you have time this video may help you understand where the band come from musically. ruclips.net/video/JKvQ34ZYT9A/видео.html There are English subtitles.
Don't be afraid of tearing down Band-Maid songs as you see fit, for me that's what I LOVE!. Let's see what you got! Maidiacs can never get enough critique. Personally I don't care if you take an hour breaking down a song. Don't be scare to go back 10 seconds when you stop, we never get tired of Band-Maid. Don't apologize, we'll get you through this. Akane Hirose (Ah-kah-nee) "Gorilla" -Drums MISA (Mee-sah) "The Barefoot Assassin"- Bass Kanami Tono (Kah-nah-mee) "Mincho"- Lead Guitar/Songwriter Miku Kobato (Mee-koo) "Little Pigeon" Rhythm Guitar/Lyricist/Founder/Backing Vocals/Lead Vocals Saiki Atsumi (Sy-kee) "The Princess" Lead Vocals
Great reaction. You ask for other bands. There are 3 other all female Japanese bands that are pretty popular Lovebites, Nemophilia, Hanabie. LB and Nemo are metal bands (but don't sound similar) and very technical. Hanabie is also metal but not as technical. They are really hot right now. I think they have a Beastie Boys vibe to them. Lots of attitude.
Great reaction again,i would suggest for a fully cohesive BM song,,Puzzle,,official live, they are as tight as a snare drum,it is a technical song but they kill it,best band out there imo,,,keep them coming VC.
There is a plethora of female Japanese rock bands that are very talented, interesting and charismatic in their own ways. My favorites are Nemophila, Hanabie and Otoboke Beaver.
Great reaction, but what got you a sub was your participation in the comments. The fans have poured out recommendations and _there are no wrong answers_ ! "Play" is and will always be my favorite, the Official Live is on YT. Tricky rhythms and use of rests and just a fun vocal song. Thanks for the reaction!
I love your reaction, and I love to hear your voice! Can you turn up the volume for your voice a little? It's a little low, I think. If I turn up the volume for your voice high enough for my ears to hear you clearly, the music would become too loud. I'm not sure if this is just a problem on my part so would like to hear input from others as well.
@@VacancyCrowning need to. And an instrumental band Asterism with Hal ca fabulous female guitarist. Try their "live in Zepp Tokyo" was just enjoying it. Sokoninaru have that magic of staggering prog skills with delicious vocal harmonies. Power trio - two guys on drums and lead and that amazing Misaki on bass. Often spoken of in the same breath as our MISA.
Nice reaction. I don’t know if you’ve ever learned any other languages, but romanized Japanese has all the same vowel readings as Spanish. i.e., soft A, I pronounced like saying the letter E, hard U as in obtuse, soft E, hard O as in oboe.
@@VacancyCrowning No problem. They're also context independent, e.g. the E at the end of akanE doesn't modify the A in the middle of akAne. There's a minor exception where you normally don't fully enunciate the U when a verb ends in Su. It's not incorrect, but it's kind of like not using an incredibly common contraction.
At this time Miku was using the EVH 5150 and Kanami a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, Misa Orange. They've now switched to digital amps. Kanami has mentioned 3 guitarists as her Influences , Carlos Santana, EVH and Larry Carlton but she is a sponge when it comes to music and seems to listen to all sorts of stuff so I'm sure she is influenced by many other than the 3 she mentioned. Carlos Santana as an influence is the most interesting to me as It was never immediately obvious to me in her playing until I spent a day just listening to him with Kanami in mind and I now see it very clearly.
It's interesting to see Herman Li's reaction to this. He listens - he says what a great job his friend kanami is doing then he goes really quiet and keeps his mouth closed. Unlike many people he can totally see what she is doing, not just shred but creating amazing music with it. And then there's a band like a single instrument.
Its amazing to see when a technical guitarists creates their own rythm during a solo piece or riff even though it may sound like just shredding. Eddie did it in a song where there was a funky swing. I see it as an easter egg of sorts for experienced guitarists. She absolutely nailed it
As a fellow stutterer, you did good. I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. Please continue. The Ladies have a very large and diverse catalog of songs for you to choose from. Almost their entire discography is available on their youtube channel under the releases tab, set in playlists for you. Not all of their songs have videos, but we as fans don't really need a video. So if you want to listen to their music and react to it, don't feel stressed if there is no official video. Just watch/listen/react to the song itself, even if it's just listening through spotify. We will still come to hear your thoughts and see your reaction to the Ladies music. That is what is important to us. Your Thoughts, about the Ladies music. Are you hearing something we aren't? do the lyrics mean the same to you? Several times now, a reactor has put the lyrics of a song and it's structure in a new perspective, that allow me to more fully enjoy the songs.
Thank you, have kind of learnt to reword and get around the stutter, sometimes it just sneaks up an ya. Thank you so much for the support I will definitely have a wider look at the catalogue
@@VacancyCrowning Yes, it does sneak up, please don't let it stress you out. We Band-Maid fans are more interested in your thoughts and opinions than whether or not your speaking is perfectly precise and concise. I know very well the negative feedback loop that sometimes happens when it seems like my mouth won't do what I want it to.
Thanks for the analysis. And taking notes just means you're serious about what you're doing. Definitely go beyond the music videos--there are gobs of their songs that deserve videos. Cheers!
You're in good company. Kanami stutters as well. During their servings, during Japanese lesson time for the Maidiacs . Seiki comes up with the Japanese words. I don't know the exact spelling, but it sounded like "Injon". To which kanami asked the audience, " Dddddo you know what Injon means???"
Thanks, fun reaction. React to Black Hole (Black Hole is on a two song video with Manners, it was recorded during a COVID era streaming concert). As you try more Japanese names, the following are things I think I've noticed. (I'm not good at this either, other viewers will know much more and can correct me.) There are no silent letters in English spelling of Japanese - so Akane, is ah-kah-nee - but two vowels may be used together for a sound like in Saiki, sy-kee. Also, it seems that vowels usually go with the consonant before them. Ka-na-mi rather than Kan-a-mi and A-ka-ne rather than A-kan-e. And, it sounds like there are no accented syllables, each has the same dynamic value.
Excellent content! Nice analysis and reaction! There are lots of great metal/rock bands from Nippon however there is only one BandMaid! Asterism, Lovebites, Gacharic Spin, Nemophila and on and on. IMHO BandMaid is the Belle of the Ball!
@@VacancyCrowning Yes, I have seen interviews with them. They are very shy. I saw one where the both guitarists Miku and Kanami were interviewed. Kanami was leaning on Miku even holding in her skirt, looking like a little girl. And it was Miku that did the talking. Kanami only talked when directly addressed. When she is playing guitar and really takes command, then Kanami is called Minchu! And her new outfit, that is not a maid outfit, is called Minchu battle outfit.
Check out Hate? official live video, Kanami and Misa have a "conversation" with their instruments also Freedom live has a Akane drum solo. Thrill music video was the video that saved the band
Good Reaction! I appreciate all your analysis, and You don't forget to speak about Miku. This band is fantastic with their talent. They are so cohesive ! also including the lead vocalist Saiki. If you want to listen more instrumental, you can also check ONSET. More groovy: MANNERS, with BLACK HOLE the speed punk rock band maid style. You can see the cohesivity of this band with PUZZLE, with a excellent job of Miku, and amazing vocals of Saiki, and riff of Kanami. I don't forget for each time, the drums of Akane, incredible. after you have some many excellent songs like Warning, Moratorium, ...
I'm always happy to hear reacters mention Miku. I have profound respect for her, because, unlike the others, she wasn't a seasoned player and didn't even learn to play her instrument until after forming the band. Still, she became proficient enough to hold her own in a band full of exceptionally talented musicians very quickly, and has continuously improved since. She not only had the vision to create the band, but also proved herself to have incredible determination and an amazing work ethic. I find her entire story to be incredibly inspiring.
If you want to hear something completely different guitar-wise, listen to their latest release "Bestie". It's co-written by their new friend Mikey-chan of Incubus. The Maids are supporting Incubus in a Tokyo concert this summer. No MV so maybe just listen for yourself. Thanks again!
@@MnPofBM Yeah, so they announced that after my post! But, my bad the Incubus concert is 5-1 not _this summer_ I got confused, The Warning collab is _this summer_ . :D
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! as I am no musician this may be TOTALLY off but it seems MISA is usually playing more complex things during the Verses than she is when Soloing where she seems to just get groovy obviously there are exceptions like the Battle during "HATE?" strangely enough Mika is Miku's real name.
Gracias por la reacción , a parte de lo q le recomiendan , creo q hay una banda q le gustara e impresionara bastante por lo q dice de las "paradas" Sokoninaru - Gou Ni Moyu. Saludos y Rock and Roll. 😉
As far as why the bassist (Misa) and lead vocalist (Saiki) do not wear maid costumes is plain and simple... Misa does not want to and neither does Saiki. The maid outfits do not fit their on stage persona. Especially Misa's. And the rest of the band is fine with it. The Maid outfit was Miku's idea. Kanami was 100% on board with it since she had been in a school band that dressed in maid outfits. Akane was on board with it. Misa felt out of place with the outfit. And they never told Saiki about the outfits until she joined the band . You can see them all in maid outfits in their first hit "Thrill" that has over 20 million views , but you can tell Misa is not comfortable in high heels and a maid costume.
@@user-sz5yn1hg5q thanks so what is a triple rec is it distinctive of Mesa or are amps either double or triple rec ? really showing my lack of knowledge here huh
If you like heavy metal, i suggest listening to Lovebites. Mainly a power metal band but also with a lot of high quality thrash metal songs. Check out the live versions. "Swan Song" is a good song to begin with. But make sure it's the "Chopin intro" live. Welcome to the J-rock/J-metal rabbit whole. You'll not be disappointed.
Akane is Ah-Kah-Ne., It's never ever A-Cane. There's no Silent E in Japanese. It's 2 and occasionally 1 or 3 letter syllables if it starts with an A or O or ends with an N. BAND-MAID have a special trick to stay in time, Kanami puts all the "Extra Stuff" on Backing Tracks and they use it as a Click Track. The have a game they play in rehearsals, you can see it sometimes like in 'Domination' LIVE. They gather around Akane's drums and make faces at her to make her laugh and f*ck up. Not in a million years, though she did miss one time. She was playing so furiously during one song she had unplugged her In-Ears and missed the start of the next song. Miku just made a joke about it and the show went on. There was another time the airlines lost the computer and it wasn't found in time for the show. They just rearranged the set list and again, the show went on. They were more worried about the sneakers they'd bought in L.A. MISA was the first in all black. Saiki soon followed with mostly black. The edgy Darkness Sisters. Miku is the one with the EVH, not Kanami. Kanami plays through Mesa Boogie in this video, though She recently switched to a Bugera. Her main influence isn't Van Halen, it's Santana. Miku has no influences. She didn't even play guitar, nor did she really want to. But it was her band. She started it. So it was either learn to play or hire a 6th member. Her only real influence is her teacher, Kanami. Not only did she have to learn to play while in a working band, she had to do it LIVE while singing backups. If you look at the first OMV she isn't actually playing anything, more holding the guitar as a prop.
Thank you for the help with the pronunciation that is a very smart way of creating a sort of 'çlick track' Okay so Miku uses the EVH This is all very interesting thank you
wow.. the audio quality of the song on your feed is... not good. Way too "splashy", had to crank the volume down real low to not have it bother my ears too badly, but that made hearing you impossible. :(
Someone recently described their output as "Music that is complicated but is easy to listen to." Pretty spot on I think.
Pretty spot on is what i think too :)
That is such a great way to sum it all up
A lot of Band-Maid’s later stuff is complicated and it can take a few listens to come to grips. This song immediately struck me. Just so well composed. Even the tempo seems spot on.
Hits the nail on the head
Don't worry too much. While you are learning their names and how they are pronounced, we are still getting the benefit of your technical knowledge. We all had to get up to speed with their names and roles.
We thought you would like "From Now On" because of their technical skills -- and it is a great composition. To see Saiki as well, try "Blooming" ... and everything else. They have a small number of instrumentals, to give Saiki a break during concerts. "Play" (live) is a great example of an instrumental where Saiki wanted to join in, so they added a singing part (at least, that is the story I heard).
Thank you, I will definitely have a look
MISA did wear a maid outfit when the band first started, but she was uncomfortable wearing it. She eventually created her own style, "the barefoot assassin" outfit. Saiki, the lead vocalist was not happy about wearing a maid costume, she also changed her style. The rest of the Maid/s stuck with the costume, but in recent years have altered their maid outfits a bit (with the exception of Miku, who founded the band) "Thrill" was their first official music video. It's the video that saved them as a band and in the video, all of the Maids wear a maid costume.
Very interesting
Initially, they all wore similar maid outfits.
They've changed their outfits almost every year and designed their outfits to fit each personality.
At their Yokohama Arena concert (Nov. 2023), they showed us their newest outfits. During the MC time, Saiki said "I'm not sure if I can call my new outfit as a maid costume anymore"🤔😅😁
Saiki is the hotel owner, not the maid.
And our favorite small pigeon said it’s still a maid outfit just a band maid version of a maid outfit lol
That is so interesting to me, there is always development
Thanks for the reaction and comments. Don't ever apologize for pausing to inject a comment. We are here to hear your thoughts about these ladies and their music.
Thats what I love, its the skill to bring a technical masterpiece but the experience to bring only what the song needs
From Japan Although it is instrumental, it is recommended. "WITHOUT HOLDING BACK"

Thats what im talking about! Kanami is not from Janan, she is from another planet!
Thx, VC!
I still cant believe it took a RUclips comment for me to hear about them, such a skilled and diverse group
Kanami is one of the all time greatest rock music composers on the planet. Yea she's a great guitarist. But she writes all that shit too.
Kanami is the best female guitar player in the world! She is a guitar Queen!!!

@@VacancyCrowning The EVH amps are Miku's. However it is clear that Kanami has been influenced by him.

THE best Hard Rock band in the universe. And in any parallel ones too. Their 1 hour show at Lollopalooza 2023 is on YT where they used FROM NOW ON as their first song - quite incredible seeing them perform this complex and fast song perfectly live.
Shows the musicianship at play
Interviewer: Maid outfits aren’t exactly rock ‘n’ roll. What is your ultimate heavy metal costume? MIKU “Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!”
Interviewer: What’s the meaning of the name “BAND MAID”?
- SAIKI hates frilly aprons!)
Interviewer: Since all five girls are cute, each of them has a different character.

You did a great job. Don’t worry you almost got the names right. Maidiacs will teach you the pronunciation! Keep doing BM and we will be there with you!
I appreciate all the support on this journey
Salute us!" 😄
Open with a bang, I like it
If you watch Kanami on stage during a live there are times where she goes into the "Mincho Mode" where she completely zones out and it's just her and her guitar and everything else disappears, it's like she's no longer conscious of her surroundings or what she does when she zones and yet she is completely in tune with everything that's going on around her. There are times when she has to ask her band mates how the gig went and what she was doing
Thats how you know she feels the melody
Can never go wrong with good gear
They have 3 other solely instrumental tracks which are amazing cled "Don't Be Long," "Onset," and "Without Holding Back." They also have a few "white room" videos with instrumental only versions of some of their songs.
But I think you should check out live. Onset is a good one for instrumental, as there is an official live and jas some interesting time changes. Also, Manners/Black Hole may be of interest. But for a pure all-out banger, it's hard to beat Real Existence official live.
they go so far as to do time changes?? I am very intrigued
I think it's a good idea to do Sayonakidori album version and acoustic version in one video. Two types of incredible from the best band around!
Will have a look at it, thank you

Welcome back to the world of the Maid! We fans (Maidiacs) are excited to go along with you on this journey.
“From Now On” is the song that completely changed my attitude towards Band Maid. They went from simply interesting to important in the grand scheme of things.
Please stop and comment as much as you like. Band Maid is renowned for their variety; for their fearless songwriting. The more you give likes and dislikes, the easier it is to make suggestions.
I’m hearing your ear for details and layers. Composition, dynamics, and arrangement.
Please consider:
“Blooming,” OMV. Power pop punk progressive rock with arguably one of the most beautiful bridges ever recorded.
“Secret MY Lips,” official video. Here, a completely unexpected bridge transition inside of more driving, riff-based hard rock
“DICE,” OMV. Hair metal progressive. And one of their best examples of their arrangement style. Verse. Prechorus with interesting chord choices. Uplifting chorus. Reinvented, not copied second verse…bass feature handoff to guitar feature…unexpected ending. Leaving everyone wanting more
Enjoy your discovery 🤘🏽
These all sound very interesting, maybeeeee they all deserve a video!?

Introducing The Band...
Misa [mee-sah] (Barefoot Assassin) - Bass Guitar
Her nickname comes from an interview where the host was saying that she was not wearing a maid outfit and Miku spoke up stating that it was an assassin maid outfit, along with the fact that Misa goes barefoot on stage.
Miku [mee-kuu] (Small Pigeon) - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals, Lyricist, Band Founder
Her nickname comes from her chosen last name Kobato, which literally means small pigeon.
Akane [aah-kah-neh] (Gorilla) - Drums
Her nickname comes partially from her love of eating bananas. She almost always snacks on one during their long okyu-ji (servings, concerts) which routinely last well over 2 hours.
Saiki [sigh-kee] (Sai-Chan or Ice Queen) - Lead Vocals
Fans called her the Ice Queen early on because she was very stoic and showed little emotion. She has evolved to be quite expressive now. The band just call her Sai-Chan.
Kanami [kah-nah-mee] (Mincho or Princess) - Lead Guitar, Songwriter
Fans called her Princess because of her infatuation with Saiki. When she introduces herself onstage she says "Please call me Mincho". (meen-cho)
Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, and Don't You Tell Me. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it!
By the way... Kanami has said that she plays all of the guitar parts on the studio albums, including the parts that Miku plays at the live shows.
Your last remark: This is done to save time, but Miku does all the guitars in live show, as near as the recorded.
@@wanderleyjesus6772 Correct. Miku has become quite good at playing rhythm guitar during the live shows, especially considering that she didn't know how to play guitar when she formed the band.

Nice reaction. I don’t know if you’ve ever learned any other languages, but romanized Japanese has all the same vowel readings as Spanish. i.e., soft A, I pronounced like saying the letter E, hard U as in obtuse, soft E, hard O as in oboe.
This is helpful, thank you so much
@@VacancyCrowning No problem. They're also context independent, e.g. the E at the end of akanE doesn't modify the A in the middle of akAne. There's a minor exception where you normally don't fully enunciate the U when a verb ends in Su. It's not incorrect, but it's kind of like not using an incredibly common contraction.
@@daaaaaave Thank you Dave
At this time Miku was using the EVH 5150 and Kanami a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, Misa Orange. They've now switched to digital amps. Kanami has mentioned 3 guitarists as her Influences , Carlos Santana, EVH and Larry Carlton but she is a sponge when it comes to music and seems to listen to all sorts of stuff so I'm sure she is influenced by many other than the 3 she mentioned. Carlos Santana as an influence is the most interesting to me as It was never immediately obvious to me in her playing until I spent a day just listening to him with Kanami in mind and I now see it very clearly.
i definitely hear santana in her playing, specifically his song 'smooth'
@rogerchance9074 She's 'partial to people named Roger' lol
It's interesting to see Herman Li's reaction to this. He listens - he says what a great job his friend kanami is doing then he goes really quiet and keeps his mouth closed. Unlike many people he can totally see what she is doing, not just shred but creating amazing music with it. And then there's a band like a single instrument.
Its amazing to see when a technical guitarists creates their own rythm during a solo piece or riff even though it may sound like just shredding. Eddie did it in a song where there was a funky swing. I see it as an easter egg of sorts for experienced guitarists. She absolutely nailed it
@@VacancyCrowning she creates swing and a vocal melody and a classical style rondo kind of thing.

Almost their entire discography is available on their youtube channel under the releases tab, set in playlists for you. Not all of their songs have videos, but we as fans don't really need a video.
Thank you, this is very helpful

Ok. Quick crash course in Japanese (names). Break up the words into syllables ending with a vowel, A-ka-ne.

All very interesting thank you

Thank you for the help with the pronunciation

Thank you for the help with pronunciation

@@fastskipper777 thank you
wow.. the audio quality of the song on your feed is... not good. Way too "splashy", had to crank the volume down real low to not have it bother my ears too badly, but that made hearing you impossible. :(
Seemed okay to me.
I am sorry, do you have any recommendations on rectifying?
Missa play's barefoot. Nickname barefoot assassin
