    Incapacitation
An incapacitated creature can’t take actions or reactions.(includes bonus action)
You loose concentration if you are incapacitated or die.
Auto fail against grappling and shoves.

I played an enchantress who is an ambassador!! Was waiting for you to do this with impatient anticipation. Great summary and thank you for the helpful tips

A recent happening with Hypnotic Gaze brought me here. I was playing a Lvl 9 Gnome Enchantress as a bratty, know-it-all “teenager”. We played it so that her alignment would shift a bit more quickly than others as she was still maturing into and deciding what she would become. She started at 1st level as an extremely self-assured and arrogant little Neutral Evil Witch with little value in others.
Party was taken as slaves by Drow, stripped of gear, and split. My hands were then Shattered for attempting a spell, making any further spell casting impossible (I didn’t have the right spells prepped, nor the appropriate feats or items to make spell casting without somantic components possible). I was then strapped down in a lab for what looked to be experimentation and left alone. Weeping and powerless for the first time in her life and alone, Branch Tealeaf was sure she was dead, especially when one of the other “experiments” started shambling over to attack. Desperate (-ly searching my character sheet for anything), she remembers Hypnotic Gaze, which she has not used since 2nd level, and which she uses to halt the Hand Experiment that was now directly over her, drooling into her face. And there they stayed, in a life or death staring contest, for hours (there is no limit given to how many times you get to extend the Gaze, nor any additional saving throws for them to escape). We played it so she didn’t need to keep talking to extend the spell, but she couldn’t break eye contact after that first round. She finally escaped when she (I) rediscovered her ability to Speak with Small Beasts, which she hadn’t used since she was a baby. She starts “screaming” in every form of “Small beasts language” she can think of, begging and pleading and promising anything; this eventually drew the attention of a centipede (another previous victim of the experiments, though my character would never know this) whom she convinced to help her by chewing through her bonds and helping her defeat the Hand Experiment. Once freed, she bowed to the centipede and pledged it her service. She asked what she could call the centipede and what it would have of her, but the centipede just left her alone (not in a “you’re trash” way, but rather a “you owe me nothing” way).
This is was the exact moment that my “teenage” Enchantress became an adult, and completed her slow progress from Neutral Evil to Lawful Good.

Alter memories doesn't have a level cap so it works on the friends cantrip too so you can hold someone for a while in some cases.

Playing an Enchantment wiz right now - FINALLY tried Hypnotic Gaze on something, and it was immune to charm. Weak.
It was supposed to be an RP heavy campaign, and we decided to go to this dungeon that we've been stuck in for months now (party moving SLOW and canceling too many sessions), and I specifically didn't spec for combat.
I've been mostly useless so far except for magic missiles.
I have great ideas for this character, but it's just not an ideal wizard for every scenario.
