Hi Martha, I greet you from Romania and I am really glad I found you. I also love love gardening and I resonate a lot with your style, but who wouldn't? Your garden is a dream from heaven, a joy and delight to walk through.💗 Amazing job, congratulations! I can't wait to see the new bed next to the street come to life 🤩. I'll be here for sure to watch further...
Wonderful video Marta! I'm here on the west coast of the US in Washington State. We woke up to sunshine this morning which is more unusual in winter so I'm pleased. I will be going outside to cut back the rest of my ornamental grasses that got smooshed by snow and ice a few weeks ago.
I’m so happy to see your new gardening video this morning! I’ve resorted to watching your older videos on your Polish channel and I’ve really enjoyed watching them this winter, even though I do not understand Polish! Lol! I was floored when I saw your video on clematis and ordered Emilia Plater, Blue Angel and Betty Corning as a result. I live in Quebec, Canada and we’ll have snow until early May so it’s great to see other people garden wake up at this time of the year. Thank you for sharing your garden and knowledge! 😍
So happy to see your videos again Marta. I've missed them. Here in Central Texas we have mild winters but often get days of freezes as well in January and February. So my pruning waits until end of February.
Hello Marta Teresa from Weston West Virginia USA😎. Our February too has become warmer next 10 days 5o-60 degrees F daytime 30 lowest night time . Above average. I too am on RUclips Gardening On the West Fork follow along and compare temps and plants. You’ve a wonderful presence and peace about your voice. Your gardens are splendid even in February . I’m a small backyard garden . The garden 30 years old always changing . Sun came out better take a walk through and see what’s blooming 🤣wishing for blooms daffs are up but a month away from bloom. Hellebores prolly this week with these temps I’ll see blooms 🤞. See you again soon!
Martha, I salute you!!! I’m glad that you, like me, love flowers in our garden! in one of the videos you asked: What do you like to do and what don’t? I love working in the garden and I love taking care of the garden, but I don’t like spraying and treating roses😀 My imagination constantly haunts me😀🕊️🕊️🕊️☘️🌺 Prosperity to your channel. Well done Marta🕊️🌿☘️
Lovely to see you & your garden again Marta :) I'm in south east cheshire, UK (northwest England) It's been a wet & windy winter so far here. this week has seen the temp rise, so been out chopping branches & mulching. So excited to see the longer days returning & the garden begining to awaken
This is the first time I've seen your garden Marta and I enjoyed it, despite it being February. I'm from Oxford, UK and I only have a small garden. It has quite a lot packed into it so I have to be careful not to plant over other plants and bulbs. I estimate I lose about 50% of my bulbs per year, so I just keep topping up in Oct/Nov. For now, I'm just keeping it ready for the Spring time and enjoying the few Snowdrops, Cyclamens and evergreens. I'll be looking at your other uploads now. I work with many Polish people at the BMW Mini car factory but I cannot speak the language, except for mostly swear words. Do Zobaczenia Marta. (I looked up the spelling).
Hi Marta. My energy is dependent on the sun also. Here in Princeton NJ it's been horribly gray. 6 days of partial sun in all of January. Sun is shining today and I've cut back the old leaves of the hellebores. They will be happy to dry out the soggy soil and get the sunshine predicted for the next several days! What kind of lavender do you grow? I have fallen in love with it. Thank you for all your wisdom.
nice to see you back! can you do WINTER GARDEN TOUR please? can you show us winter interest in your garden and all the plants that do look nice in the winter , what to pay attention to if you want a garden that tooks great in the dead of winter ? and also ,ay be garden tour when everything is covered in snow ..
Hello Martha Thank you for all your inspirations and hard work 😊 Could plz do video on pruning and taking care of Wisteria and explain why you r pruning surtain way and when Thank you in advance Karina ❤
Good to see you Marta. Spring can't come soon enough for me, unfortunately we are in the middle of a 3 day snowstorm here in Nova Scotia Canada. Happy to see you out in your garden. Love your videos.
Hello Marta - and hello fellow Nova Scotian!!! Yes a 3 day snowstorm - it started snowing Friday morning and will continue until Monday! Up until then we had some snow-free days and I was able to get some garden cleanup done. As soon as the snow we are getting now settles down, I will be pruning some trees and so looking forward to Spring ! 🌻🌸
Great to see you back Marta! I will start my pruning hydrangeas, roses etc. in March but in February started some winter sowing outside and will start additional seed trays indoors at end of Feb. Zone 7 New Jersey 😊
Hi from Staffordshire 🇬🇧 so pleased to have found your channel. It seems like your weather is very similar to that of our weather here. Your garden style is similar to that of mine too, although you have way more roses and hydrangea than I do. I am loving watching, keep up the good work and thank for sharing your garden and tips. 🙏😍
New subscriber. I’m in Zone 9b, Houston, Texas and our weather, temps and gardens differ greatly however, it’s a pleasure seeing your beautiful landscape and always enjoying the camaraderie of other fellow gardeners across the country. Happy gardening. Btw, love the nail polish color.😊
Hi Marta. Thanks for all the reminders. Lots to do in February where I live too. I planted allium bulbs about 4 years ago and they have spread so much. I think the blooms were smaller last year because of being crowded. How do you thin alliums? Do you just dig them all up and replant? Thanks.
I think that I like the smaller flowers in abundance on my older bulbs. I always plant some new alliums so I can also enjoy those huge first year blooms. You can divide them in summer if you wish!
Glad you are back. Love watching your channel. You always have such great advice. I am in North Carolina, US. I too am pruning a lot of trees and shrubs over the last week and this week. Preparing for all the spring blooms. Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos.
When training a young wisteria, it's important to establish a good framework for future growth. Initially, select a few strong, vertical stems to be the main branches. Tie these vertically to a support, like a wall or trellis. As they grow, you can gradually train them to grow horizontally along wires or a framework to encourage flowering spurs to form. In the first few years, focus on building this framework, pruning side shoots back to 6 inches in summer and then to 2-3 buds in winter. This encourages the plant to form flowering spurs. As your wisteria matures, you'll want to cut back the new growth to a few buds each winter, aiming to keep the size manageable and to promote flowering. For unwanted stems, if they're not part of the main structure or they're growing in the wrong direction, prune them back to their base. Always remove any suckers coming from the rootstock and any dead or diseased wood. Remember, the goal is to balance the plant's growth while encouraging it to flower. Always use clean, sharp tools to make clean cuts.

I have a very young wisteria I think is 3 years old. Should I prune it the same way as the old one? I'm not sure where to start.

Tie these vertically to a support, like a wall or trellis. As they grow, you can gradually train them to grow horizontally along wires or a framework to encourage flowering spurs to form.
