Studying at a conservatory for 5 years and never heard an Iron Maiden song:
Wasted Years
When you discover Heavy Metal and its sons and daughters of genres, you'll realize there is a whole tsunami lot of level of musicianship that formal school never taught you.
Runi oddly enough they have a song by that very name. Wasted Years off the Somewhere in Time album.

HAHAHA well said
Beth. Everyone has an uncle who is really into iron maiden. I had one, now I am the uncle. Haha
Good uncle! \m/
Rip Uncle who likes Iron Maiden
My uncle was really into Maiden and I became a fan when I was 12. His son is also a Maiden fan, but it wasn't until 12 years ago, when my cousin was 9 or 10, that he fully became a Maiden fan. It was at my uncle's party at the local football club when he turned 40 (apparently that's a big thing in Germany (he's not German, he's Dutch but built a house across the border)), and the DJ played some old skool hard rock and metal because he knew my uncle loved that stuff. My cousin really looked up to me as a kid (he was 8 or 9, I was 24 at the time, had long hair and everything), and we played air guitar and headbanged to Maiden together, that's when he truly became a Maiden fan.
Up 'til this day he still tells me it's one of his fondest childhood memories: trying to sing along with Bruce and headbanging with his older cousin "who looked so cool with his long hair and his Maiden shirt" :D Kid's 21 or 22 now and he's exactly like his dad: metal all the way!
Lmao I am also that uncle now 😂👍

I think you would be very interested in Jeff Tate of Queensryche , especially ; The lady wore black .
He isn't called "The air-raid siren" for nothing :)
I was gonna say this.
I would suggest _The Duellist_ from their album _Powerslave_ for some great display of vocal range as well...
I was thinking the exact same thing. Incidentally, it's also one of his few shortcomings: with Iron Maiden, he tends to sing in his high vibrato a bit too much, ditching a lot of dynamics in the process. IMHO the best Bruce is solo Bruce, where he can explore a wider range of interpretation, and he shines. Check out Jerusalem off The Chemical Wedding for a shining example.
@@revylokesh1783 I regard the Powerslave/Somewhere in Time era Bruce's peak. Some real bangers off of both albums
xorsyst1 I was about to write that then I saw your comment. I wonder if he’s still up to the air raid siren name nowadays..🤘🏻
@@stefanovitali2925 Omega or Strange Death In Paradise would be good choices too
Dickinson is the most theatrical vocalist in existence. Maiden concerts are basically metal opera. Cannot possibly do Maiden justice with words. Just magic.

That's the best line in these comments... Listen to uncle Mark, he know's his shit...
As a lifelong Maiden fan I would have to completely disagree and suggest that you, and the 130-or so people who have liked your comment, are displaying a fair degree of ignorance.
Beth is not just complimenting Bruce but , as a vocal coach and someone who knows how the human body creates sounds, is paying him the biggest compliment possible.
We all know Bruce has always been one of the greatest vocalists of all time but Beth has a much deeper understanding of how hard it is to do what Bruce does and clearly appreciates it more profoundly than you do.
100million fans already knew about head voice? About breath control? Diaphragm control? About how to give rasp without damaging the vocal chords?? Yeah?

She should do Stargazer by Rainbow with Dio as the singer.
I'd also add eric adams of manowar
I do like Rob and Priest, but honestly he doesn`t belong in the same sentence with Dio and Bruce. As an icon, yes. But as far as vocal technique is considered, definitely no.
Throw in geoff tate from queensryche. Saw them, maiden and rob halford solo all in one concert. Amazing
3:26 i love her reaction at this point. She seems like she didn't know there's a metal vocalist that can sing like this until she watches the almighty of bruce dickinson
I can't let this go without commenting about the fact that he's one of the most athletic live performers ever, but despite running a half marathon every single night, STILL comes out of that cardio routine he does during the solos and breaks and comes back in with flawless pitch, range, and sustain, all without any help from fake vibrato, transposition, or autotune.
... And when he's done with that part, he proceeds to get in the cockpit and fly his own goddamn band to the next venue. Guy's a fucking machine.

At first it's like, "damn this long note is impressive," but the return to it and kicking it up a notch, and then that majestic "YEAAAAAAH!" is epic.

Hallowed will be one song that I will never get sick of listening to. I first heard it when I was around 15. I'm going to be 37 this year and have heard it hundreds of times and I will still always listen to it when it comes on. One of the greatest songs ever.
I think this is the best Bruce performance of the officially released, professional concert videos. His voice is just so full and powerful, especially the higher notes.
I think the best one is the live version "Rock in Rio" the one I repeat listening for 10 years from University to Postdoc lol

@@DDickinson458 Oh mine.... You are the Iron Grandma's truely hardcore Fan, the real one LOL.
Bruce Dickinson has stated in the past on how animated he is on stage, how he never stands still, and he said he does it with the people in the furthest seats at the back of the venue in mind - he says they paid their ticket price like everyone else, and when the band look like wee ants from all the way at the back, you better be running and jumping around as much as possible to become larger than life as much as possible, and give them something to watch as if they were front row.
Indeed!

@The Metalhead where I live (Romania) there is a local rap band which is amazing, they don't get any radio time because yea... they don't bend over to be radio-friendly, they have few songs in English with some wu-tang members listen to "Parazitii - Something to say feat Raekwon (nr.26)" and tell me what you think, and Metalheads are called elitists because metal isn't mainstream like pop or pseudo-rap, where I live most of the people can't tell the difference between rock and metal...fml

What many people dont realize is that even with as amazing a voice as his, he has never recieved any formal voice training, but instead has natural voice control, and has a naturally operatic voice. I attended an Iron Maiden concert in 2012, and even though I was up in the nosebleed section, it felt as though he was standing 10 feet in front of me as he was singing. Absolutely amazing! There is a reason Iron maiden goes anywhere in the world and still sells out arenas 40 years later....that's true talent and perseverance.....I bow down to the gods of metal
Vocal Coach gets unbelievably turned on by heavy metal
I love the internet. I love that this video exists... reminds me of the buzz you get when you discover amazing music... and I love these bloody hilarious comments. 10/10 internet. More please.
@Steve Smith
real classy guy aren't you ?
@Steve Smith I think she was doing it during the video :)
@Steve Smith I bet you did on that thought .
The drummer is Mr. Clive Burr, the man sounded like a damn machine gun! RIP Clive, excellent drummer.
gman248 most underrated drummer of all time - Hits like Tyson
Now listen to him performing the song on their latest tour. He’s in his 60s and beat throat cancer while recording an album 5 years ago
Our vocal coach is so pretty. 😊
PS: Bruce Dickinson has one of the best voices in history. 😊
Had the distinct honor of meeting Maiden and some of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Dave took me aside for 30 minutes and we only talked about military aircraft which was so cool. Didn't want to be a fan boy but when he found out I flew he lit up. I guess his brother was in the RAF and we hit it off well. Thank you Beth. Maiden is so so so awesome and Bruce is remarkable.
I've had the honor of seeing Maiden perform live in person. It was in Edmonton during the Maiden England 2012 tour. One of the best days of my life. You're lucky to have actually met them face-to-face, but my parents are even luckier. They actually got to meet, I kid you not, the guy who Bruce replaced as the singer, PAUL DI'ANNO! He autographed my dad's copy of the first Iron Maiden album. My dad is a huge superfan of Maiden, probably the biggest superfan in all of Canada. That moment was a dream come true for him, and he now owns one of the most valuable copies of any Maiden album in the world because of that event.
That bass tho.... 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Steve Harris's right hand is made of metal \m/
That band tho
I once read that Bruce puts on Rollerblades and sings right before the show to warm up his vocals. Amazing singer!!!
This is a great teacher. Thank you for the lesson and that was one of the best Iron Maiden live!
After you've developped a "bass player ear", everything gets even more interesting. Long live Steve Harris!
she mentioned how much she loved everything EXCEPT the best part of iron maiden. but you are correct. if she listens to more maiden she will be blown away by what steve harris does.
Dude, that Harris gallop is what makes this band sound so fucken good
How does one know when they have "bass player" ears?
This is a genuine question, not trying to sound like a dick
@@mrpandasian8871 When you actually hear and pay attention to what the bass player is doing? lol
Finally some vocal coach who reacts to some proper music
Wonderful analysis of Mr Dickinson's voice! Made me really happy to hear a formal breakdown of a great singer. I'm a big fan of your reactions cause you really know what you're talking about and you look at the singers for what they are, not just the style of music and what you're into. Good review of an awesome performance!
Lol love your reactions... Bruce is one of the best rock vocalists of all time. I fell in love with Iron Maiden in the 80’s and I still get chills when I hear Bruce sing all these years later. Bruce is also a commercial airline pilot and has flown the band around the world during tours on Ed Force One ✈️a Boeing 747 under the call sign flight666. Bruce and Iron Maiden are an extremely talented group and make up one of the most beloved heavy metal bands of all time 😎
I enjoyed the vid. A word of advice for future Maiden videos you may do, it is generally considered polite to not interrupt when Mr. Murray is unleashing a killer solo.
Nice comment :-) Actually, I do not like interrupting the song at all, but then, there would be no point in watching someone just listening to a song :-)
😂😂😂
@@talaniel just the solos. The volume thing was really disruptive there /: I was hoping for visual things like a thumbs up and things like that lol
Maybe watch the performance vid instead of a reaction vid if you want it without interruptions 🤐
Hell yea its a nice breakdown but let it play through first
Pretty good band! I hope they make it...
Lol good one
I don’t think so, Bruce is busy learning how to fly ✈️!!! 😂🤣
@@courtneywhite8470 stfuuuu
@@courtneywhite8470 I'm 100% certain it was a joke!
@@courtneywhite8470 easily top 5 band of all time.
Beth, thank you so much for reacting to these older 80 s songs, this music will never die, it's such a part of my life and I truly thank you! Subscribe for life!
This was one of the most adorable videos ever! Well done!
