I taught Spanish at both Montefiore and Jacobi Hospitals. When I taught Spanish to Emergency Room physicians at Jacobi, it was receiving more gunshot wounds than any ER in the country. It probably still is. Those hospitals have been hugely inventive in response to these issues. Social Medicine was invented at Montefiore Hospital. I am so glad AOC is working together with them and bringing attention to this great program at Jacobi.

@@MajorHenryL. I realize you're being deliberately facetious, but guns can be purchased and taken across state lines extremely easily in the United States; no state or municipality exists in a vacuum here, and there are no hard borders at any state lines. That said, there is literally no reason we should not make it easier to record and track gun ownership, have universal background checks at the point of purchase (and wait times between the purchase and delivery of firearms), and overall make the stockpiling of arms and ammunition designed solely for taking the lives of other human beings more difficult and subject to scrutiny. A federal gun buyback program and, as mentioned in the video, treating the "epidemic" of gun violence as a public health and welfare issue rather than an issue of criminality would both go far in mitigating further loss of life in our country at large. There absolutely are things we can do to remedy this crisis, but we just have one party, bought and paid for by the gun lobby, standing in the way of progress at any and every turn.

@@seraph8thank you for that well thought out and articulate response. It was spot on and very refreshing to read something intelligent, interesting and insightful about a difficult topic. Too many people on both sides of this issue don’t want to discuss, listen and compromise and THAT is the problem. It’s said that “guns aren’t the problem, it’s a mental health problem.” That’s where their debate ends. What I don’t understand is, if you know who/what is the problem why do you still think the “problem” should still have access to guns? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember back in the 70's in Oakland Calif where I grew up, people used to call someone "woke" if they understood how bigotry (in all of it's various forms) is used to divide and conquer The People.
The Capitalists will do anything to keep us all from standing in solidarity, because if we did that, we'd realize we have exactly zero need for the wealthy elite who use bigotry6 to keep us all fighting each other.
We humans could *all* have peace and prosperity. Only bigotry divides us.

I would be happy with very Jordan too, but Roy Wood Jr would be my first choice.
Just not John Leguizamo, because he went right along with Ana when she bashed on leftism, equating Socialism to Authoritarianism. Anyone who doesn't understand such basic political terms doesn't deserve to do any job where such terms are commonly used. This includes our politicians in particular. Too bad, I really like John otherwise.

AOC has great ideas and insightful observations. Sometimes they get lost in her delivery (which may not seem extreme in Brooklyn but can come across as loud and brash if your listening to her from your livingroom in Iowa). I'm glad she is in Congress and I'm glad she has thick skin.

poverty and ignorance.. violence is an ignorant mans first and best idea.. poverty pushes that idea in the person who needs... let us teach our loved ones out of their ignorance.. let us show them better paths for all of us.. let us be wise and walk a hundred miles with our weakest minds and most hurting people.. let us walk a hundred and a thousand more with them who need us to be strong when they are weak. to carry them when they cant walk.. let us meat them where they are and be the LOVE they need...
