And what the hell are you supposed to do? You know you're innocent, which is why you don't take a plea deal because that makes you a liar and you would be owning up to "your crimes." Ms. DuVernay did the damn thing on this series! I cried for those boys and their mothers. This also made me angry! The shear calculated justice system screams reform NOW! No person under the age of 18 should be interrogated without a guardian and/or lawyer being present. A minor cannot sign off on a job permit, school registries, etc; so, why is it by law a 16 yr old can wave his/her rights to an attorney?!! A 16 yr old can’t even purchase cigarettes (in some states), nor liquor; can’t vote, can’t get married without parental consent. So it is paramount when it comes to the justice system that a person under 18 must never be left alone with a cop/investigator.

That’s the lowest estimate I’ve heard. I’ve read 2-5%. We have a 90%+ plea rate. How many innocent people copped plea’s on a lawyers advice or because the plea sentence was 5-10 and the possible trial sentence was 25-life or something comparable? How many innocent people are locked up pre-trial because they can’t afford bail? I believe the real number is in the 100’s of thousands in any given year. Our criminal justice system is fucked up.

@@JenJHayden Who said anything about it being fiction? A storyline is simply a narrative which can be fiction or non fiction. The way in which they retold the story (which I am aware is a true story) was perfection because it captured the essence of it, thats the point.

just want to state for the record that Ava DuVernay better not mess up the Prince Documentary by portraying him as some gay or bisexual black man who believed in this current wave that is sweeping America and being propagated throughout the world! PRINCE was a STRAIGHT BLACK MAN despite his attire and appearance! In addition, he believed that a man should be with a woman was the natural order of God and anything outside of that union was not ordained by God'. Therefore, I don't want Ava's documentary insinuating that Prince was an ally of the LGBT movement- he was not! Just because he had W&L in his band and worked with them individually on projects - this does not mean he agreed with and was a champion of their lifestyle. Prince did indeed empower women in his circle and gave them opportunities by ways of employing them however, don't get it twisted and try to make him the poster boy of being a pro feminist in this current climate. He loved Women, he loved their beauty, their intellect and their Auras and everything that made them a woman but WHAT he didn't love was the bearded lady concept that a lot of whyte feminist try to project to the other women in this country and around the world! So please don't pepper Janelle Monae all throughout his documentary saying he was a believer in LBGT people or causes because that would not be accurate! Hell he didn't even know she was like that, she only revealed her sexuality after his passing. Knowing Prince, he may have been trying to get with her in the biblical sense. Anyway, Prince believed in the union between a woman and a man working together hand to hand in order to fulfill God's Laws which Whyte feminist are in direct opposition to that concept. Nonetheless, Prince was indeed a complex man to the fullest extent (true Gemni), he was a HUE--MAN being. Nevertheless, these multifaceted complexities of Prince's character is indeed a daunting task that Ava has taking on by directing this PRINCE documentary. She cannot portray him to be everything to everybody but what we can say for certain that he was: BLACK, Straight, Short, a Genius, A Musician, A Performer, a Brother, A son, a Friend, a Lover, A Boss, A husband, A father and an Inspiration to the World! What he wasn't was a contributor to the foolishness that is currently being propagated by these whyte feminists, liberals ( along with gays and lesbians) & conservatives. He was a righteous black man! So whatever agenda or narrative that Ava's documentary about Prince try to depict, please remember the real TRUTH and MESSAGE about who Prince REALLY WAS and will always be found within the MUSIC!

I’m Nigerian and this show made me weep because I know that there are possibly thousands of people in our prisons in Nigeria wasting away for crimes they did not commit, my tears were tears of powerlessness. At least America has DNA, finger printing, etc to potentially if lucky exonerate boys like these but we don’t have that, it’s sad, it’s heartbreaking.
