21:32 Bob, your initial thoughts were right. That is 100% a guitar riff you’re hearing in end credits. The sample is from a section of a song called Monomyth by Animals as Leaders.
I’ve been playing guitar for about 15 years now, and have been listening to animals as leaders since high school. They’re a super technical progressive metal band who’s fanbase is mostly guitar nerds lol. Definitely a specific niche within the metal community. Anyways, I never expected to hear them on a hip hop record and I was FLOORED when I heard peggy sample them (the high school nerd in me was delighted ❤)

One of my favorite albums ever and i think it’s an example of a perfect album. Are u happy is probably my favorite track, that Cardigans sample use and him rapping over Gangsta Boo’s rapping. Hazard Duty Pay is one of the best sample usages ever. The production has a lot of layers and at times is really relaxing. It’s beautiful and epic and the chaos is made into something with a really great form. I didn’t like the album at first but it has so much sonic depth that it just unveils itself more every listen, as art.
To mention the Armand Hammer disses, i was disappointed that two of my favorite artists were beefing (billy woods of AH didn’t engage in it but Elucid of AH did), but happily they were quick to get back on good terms and clear things up and the beef is over. Armand Hammer, and billy woods solo work, are still musthear in your journey through hip hop, as is Tkay Maidza who you briefly heard featured

Still I love this album a lot and the only gripe I have with it is that one of my favorite songs End Credits is slightly sped up on the offline version compared to the online one and I prefer the online version, other than that its an amazing album. Love the review! I agree with your interpretation about the second part of tired nervous and broke. I think it might be the throughline for the album. Contradictions inherent to being an artist in hip hop, the stress and the excellence that come out of those contradictions, the dissonance and harshness of the lifestyle, etc. I think it's interesting that he says "I don't wanna be stressed out for PROFIT". When I listened to the album, I heard that as a deliberate word choice. Not all societies, art forms, artists rely on profit to fund their next projects. Hip hop is a uniquely capitalist genre, largely because of exploitative record labels.
"I feel like hip hop put a hit on me", constraining his creativity and his true individuaity while being his main form of personal expression. This album is like a hip hop representation of of the contradictions inherent in day to day life in 2022 capitalism like most of his work imo but I find that this one, by lacking a clear throughline, by having extremely unconvential sounds and song structures, blending genres, gender roles, audio qualities, etc really convey something truthful about what it means to be alive right now. It's hard to find your footing in a world where you need to.work to survive but that changes drastically often, and that tries to box you into one type of artist, one specific profession in order to more easily exploit you and extract profit from your work, your talent and passion.

Bob please react to “The Waters” by Mick Jenkins! One of the best conceptual albums of the 2010s. He is from Chicago and is both conscious and lyrical. Beautiful jazz and instrumentation throughout the record!

Hey there Bob, i dont know if youll see this, but i wanted to comment to reach any other older Aphex Twin Fans. In the same way that you might view JID or Denzel curry the generation inspired by Kendrick, Aphex Twin has his own predecessors in the experimental bass music world who are magical. Its a tradgedy that anyone who loves Aphex might not of listened to Eprom or Gjones. Both cite him as one of their biggest inspirations, and he frequently plays tracks from both of them in his live shows. I know experimental bass music doesnt have a react community so it may not be worth it to react to live, but for your own sake please listen to The Ineffable Truth by G Jones, and Synthesim by Eprom. Both take influence from hiphop as well and if you love Jpeg they are the next step in experimental music.

Such a good album. Saw him live a few weeks ago and it went to surviving in the pits to appreciating Call Me Maybe 😂 - he also fist bumped me after the show at the merch table. My life might be complete haha
A really cool reaction would be a Coke Rap album like Supreme Blientele or Hitler Wears Hermes 8 Side B for example. These griselda guys are so worth checking out!

you should definitely listen to the ghost pop tape from peggy’s old music under the name devon hendryx. it’s on his bandcamp. communist slow jams would be great too but i could see the reaction being very long.
