I really like the part where he says "Writing lyrics in the city with pretty boobies and titties" while the beat strips back because to me it sounds like JID trying for a second to do what is expected of atlanda rappers, just writing about nonsense with no emotion. His voice goes from cracking up to becoming stable and kind of monotone for this one line. Then he just realizes that's not who he is and goes back to the cracked up voice in the next line where he goes back to talking about real stuff. (If you go by my intepretation) this line with the lyrics, beat and delivery tells a whole story and reinforces the line in the chorus: "Southern lyricists don't exist like my flow is a myth".

You know what, I just clocked that his flow at times, like on D/vision, is following a different pattern to the beat in a sense that it's technically polyrhythms if you take the syllables as percussive notes. Almost like Meshuggah or even Tool. 4/4 background but odd time signature with his syllables. Insane, no? Prog without even knowing it? 😂
If you're going to listen to horror themed albums in October you really HAVE to listen to There Existed an Addiction to Blood and Visions of Bodies Being Burned by clipping. They're two amazing horrorcore albums by an amazing group. They basically take hip hop and noise and fuse it together. It's not like Death Grips where they put hip hop, metal, rock, jazz, techno and noise in a boiling pot but more like hip hop with noise inspired instrumentals or basically rapping over noise. Really experimental stuff. All songs are about horror on these two albums, each song basically tells it's own story. You really gotta listen to both though to get the full experience, which might not mesh well with your upload schedule and video structure. Still I STRONGLY recommend these two albums for October. If you like it you should also listen to CLPPNG by them. Other October picks include Mista Thug Isolation and Here I Lie Buried With My Rings And My Dresses. Really enjoyed this reaction. Looking forward to your reaction to DiCaprio 2 (if you're doing this one too, you should) and The Forever Story. JID is one of the best of this generation. His flows and rhymes are so captivating, and he always switches up his flow. You should check out some of his singles, notably Bruuuh remix with denzel and Cludder. His verse on Conway the Machines Scatter Brain is also top notch. Sorry for making a wall of text but since I'm doing it I'm just going to throw in another recommendation. I'd like to do that Big K.R.I.T album. I didn't get to listen to the playlist 😂 But it was cool to see that album get so much love!
I myself have yet to dig into JID's entire discography but I will. I listened to this album once and then repeated a few songs I enjoyed. So this video was useful to listen more and see it being broken down a bit. Thank you! I definitely recommend more of the Dreamville artists when you have time. That's J. Cole's label and stuff. They have a mixtape I think as a whole (so multiple artists all over the album) but also Revenge of the Dreamers II is labeled as a compilation in some places. Confuses me. Anyways part 3 is SO much fun. The little documentary is worth watching before it. Shows the process of recording over a couple weeks in a studio sort of house. Multiple studios with everyone jumping in and out of sessions. If you were in the right place and right time, you might've ended up on a song, if not, your loss. Guests were brought in too. Kendrick does bits here and there yet I think isn't even credited lol. Same with other artists. It's a great showcase of what the label has. Everyone under J. Cole. That includes JID of course.

"clutching on my last dollars, I'm stretching common sense" is a crazy line. 1. When you make money "stretch" it means you're broke and you have to live off what you've got, holding on (or "clutching") until payday. 2. Common sense is a play for "common cents" a metaphor for a working man's wage. 3. The context of the verse gives several alternative meanings to "stretching common sense" a. he's giving his "two cents" by sharing his mental state with people who are broke, just like him. b. a "clutch" shifts gears, so he's trying to "stretch common sense" by trying to educate people (get the gears in the brain to shift) who would otherwise never think twice about his lyrics because they weren't in his shoes to experience it (commoners).
Good break down. For as long as I've been enjoying lyrics, I'm beginning to realize there's a lot of wordplay that I've been missing. Hopefully my mind gets a little sharper in that category going forward.
@@bobthepoppop Thank you! nothing feels better than when you catch those sneaky lines that don't seem like much at first. Sometimes they'll fly under the radar for years before it clicks!

Bob I still noticed the urge to find an over arcing message within the album, really JID’s goal in this album was to set the stage with his skill set and show people what he is capable of however in The Forever Story he does get in to deeper ideas about his personal life so definitely pay attention in the next reaction
Hey, great vid. I got to the point after EdEddnEddy where you said you needed to do another Cole album. Instead I think you should look into Revenge of the Dreamers 3. It’s J Cole’s label, and the album was made in 10 days in one location where Cole invited 343 Artists/Producers. 142 songs were made and 18 songs made the cut. There’s also a documentary on it you can react to also, or just watch before listening to the album. Keep it up!!!
Imo, he should really do 4 Your Eyez Only first just cause it'd make his part on Sacrifices a lil better of an experience. But I hope he gets to ROTD3 too

Pat Tillmans story is so sad. He became very *very* disillusioned with the entire “war on terror” while he was overseas. Not only was he killed by friendly fire, the military tried to cover it up (including to his family) for the longest time. despite all that the NFL rolls him out every year for Veterans Day and Salute to service month without any of that context as some Captain America style figure. Anyways, great reaction as always Bob!
loved the video!! if you want another mac project do faces or good AM next, both a little more upbeat than swimming/circles. you would love the production on faces
His name is pronounced both JID and J-I-D. In a nardwuar interview he corrects him and says it's J-I-D but in multiple songs he has referred to himself as JID. He has also said that his name comes from the word "jittery" something his grandmother would call him as a child, reinforcing the JID pronounciation.
The name comes from his grandma who would say he was jittery / a jitter bug, he adapted it into the moniker JID. But really he can be called both J.I.D and JID.

1. When you make money "stretch" it means you're broke and you have to live off what you've got, holding on (or "clutching") until payday. 2. Common sense is a play for "common cents" a metaphor for a working man's wage.
3. The context of the verse gives several alternative meanings to "stretching common sense"
a. he's giving his "two cents" by sharing his mental state with people who are broke, just like him.
b. a "clutch" shifts gears, so he's trying to "stretch common sense" by trying to educate people (get the gears in the brain to shift) who would otherwise never think twice about his lyrics because they weren't in his shoes to experience it (commoners).
Sometimes they'll fly under the radar for years before it clicks!
very happy that you went with never story first! I've only just gotten into jid with the forever story so it's nice to experience his early work with you XD
The Ed Ed and Eddy sample is the same sample thats used in the song Scenario in next weeks Low End Theory, kinda cool link up
Bob I still noticed the urge to find an over arcing message within the album, really JID’s goal in this album was to set the stage with his skill set and show people what he is capable of however in The Forever Story he does get in to deeper ideas about his personal life so definitely pay attention in the next reaction
My mind is always looking for more :)
I'm glad I did this album first since it can feed into TFS. It's cool to have this background moving forward.
You are absolutely gonna LOVE The Forever Story and DiCaprio 2!! TFS probably my favorite album of the decade
But I hope he gets to ROTD3 too
fuck now i gotta resubscribe to the patreon..this is your best reaction choice yet i love you bob
JID is the master of flow switches glad you’re catching it early on!!
No way,I never thought anyone would react to this classic banger from JID in 2022! Was about to subscribe when you gave an in depth review of Denzel’s Album, but this seals the deal!
4:22 enough to earn a subscription and make a grown man cry 🥹 incredibly said 🔑🗣️
so glad to see you react to this. this album is pretty good and his newest one is even better the album in between them (DiCaprio 2) is good too. Good reaction and happy to see you tackle jid
Would love to see you react to “The Waters” by Mick Jenkins. It’s a conceptual album with a ton of meaning! He is both lyrical and conscious hailing from Chicago.
BOB! Love the vids man never been this early but I love all the videos and I look forward to you reacting to the forever story truly a beautiful album
W support
I've been waiting for jid for so long Defi gotta give the forever story a listen to see the progress as an artist he's made.
I really liked your intro Bob as you went over your thought process. Great idea to do this one first 👍 btw jid is the future
I remember listening to this when it came out and I was like maybe rap isn't dying completely such a great album instantly bought it on vinyl.
Bob there’s an interview where JID says his favorite musical artist is actually a Swedish rock band called, Little Dragon. So he loves all music.
I was at that kendrick concert on Tuesday in sac too. What a show.
Glad you listened to this projeck and if you listen to the forever story check out 2007 on youtube, its the proper ending but it couldnt be cleared by samples
i love jid so much he probably on my current top 5, waiting for you reaction on the new album, its amazing
JID was my fav concert I’ve been to. The crowd the music and JID…
"Is it J.I.D. or JID?"
Yes.
bro.. that "weird looking kid" on the cover is edd from ed, edd, n eddy. how have I never noticed that?! goated cartoon.
Fish in the back 🐠 This is my comfort channel
I WANNA WATCH YOUR REACTION TO THE FOREVER STORY SO BAD NOW
JID Forever story is beautifully done. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy the range, production and beat switches.
I remember the day this came out. Nobody knew who he was at that time but as soon as I heard it I knew dude would be a star in a few years
You should react to Mavi. He only has one album called "Let the sun talk" it's too good man.
JID and Denzel are longtime friends and they have a single that's not on any album, it's called Bruuuh remix you really should listen to it it's so so good
pop you passed by one of my fav rappers annotations on D/vision. That man Doctur Dot AKA Wowgr8 the flow buddha
i hope you do the forever story soon. I know you planned the month but it would be worth a shake up
Pat Tillmans story is so sad. Anyways, great reaction as always Bob!
bob you should definitely react to JIDS 2018 XXL freestyle cypher. it’s insanely good
Been waiting on this one 🔥
loved the video!! if you want another mac project do faces or good AM next, both a little more upbeat than swimming/circles. you would love the production on faces
Would love to see you react to Isaiah rashad in the near future, starting with Cilvia demo 🫂
If you're doing the spooky theme for October, you should do the Forever Story since it's scary how good it is...........(I'll see myself out)
I'm really excited to see what you think of one of my favorite rappers!
cheers brother wish yall the best
Definitely hope he follows this up with JID’s next two albums, especially because the just dropped one
Let’s goooo Jid is insane
cant wait for jid the forever story
you said you had november and december open, dicaprio 2 came out on november 26,2018 then tfs could be our christmas gift
The name comes from his grandma who would say he was jittery / a jitter bug, he adapted it into the moniker JID. But really he can be called both J.I.D and JID.
oh man im hyped for this one!!
Saw on Hip Hop By The Numbers by JID averages a flow change every 13 seconds on TFS. Insane.
Hey bob, you definitely have to react to DiCaprio 2 and Revenge of the Dreamers III
Need those reactions, especially before The Forever Story
You REALLY should listen to DiCaprio 2 before the newest one, you will se his growth on his rapping and even more his singing! You'll love the album and the flows
