I think Pippa and rest did a wonderful job; this is an honor to the originals. Judith is such a darling and so well loved, that of course no-one can match them in our hearts. The memory of that original song, with her gorgeous voice, is so precious. So glad to see Judith still going strong. :-)

Judith is now deceased at age 79.
It says something when the Original Seekers approve of the performances. True Pippa Grandison is not Judith Durham, nobody could replace Judith, Athol, Keith and Bruce. But this cast does an amazing job with legendary music.
Its pathetic and almost putrid compared to the Seekers. (no offense- but genius can't be imitated. It looks incredibly bad compared to the real thing )

Pippa Grandison doesn't sound even remotely like the great lady herself. You would have thought that the producers could have cast someone who at least sounded a bit like her with a similar tone and pitch.

The Seekers were a fabulous group in the early years of radio,love their music,still lives in my mind listening to BBC overseas top charts,Judith Durham had a great voice,to showcase Australia

She sounds more like Barbara Streisand than Judith Durham. And that’s not a compliment.
Probably not realistic to try to perfectly replicate a vocalist - everyone's voice is unique so you can't buy the same equipment. That said I've heard closer but no matter how close people are going to notice the difference. I though this was good though.

I'm sure they will..the cast might be UK actors in the UK production of Georgy Girl..wow in the same country were the movie was filmed with Lynn Redgrave as geogina.
You can forget the musical coming to the UK it has totally flopped..yes it was a total bust so you won't be able to enjoy the musical.

Like most renditions of the original group, there's always something that isn't quite 100%. It's either the soul, the sound, the persona but never the original masterpiece.
Agree - its not exact but Pippa has a amazing voice too. It takes great courage to do this. Wonderful.

Just need to change the music use the movie verison and it will be a awsome musical.
The musical went bust it totally bombed now i feel bad for the cast and crew and Patrick Edgeworth who wrote the draft of the show and it tanked.
Look peeps......Pippa isn't trying to replace a former #1 hit artist.......she simply auditioned for the role of Judith and was the best one for it. The thing to do is jettison the comparison and enjoy the portrayal as what it is...a tribute to the Seekers. I think the whole thing is just grand!! Take Care

Judith may have aged but still a class act obviously. Amazing performance. Judith must feel so honoured. I don't think we have seen the last of the beautiful young talent playing her. Break a Leg guys!

Judith Durham’s voice is so unique that it would be difficult for Pippa, or any singer for that matter, to duplicate. I didn’t expect her to. But I did expect them to at least duplicate the tempo of the song and not freestyle it. I have watched The Seekers’ 25th and 50th Anniversary concerts and have appreciated how they have kept their presentations of their songs exactly as how they recorded it in the 60’s. I would think that difficult to do for Creative musicians and Singers who would be tempted to vary their presentations to avoid the boredom of singing it the same way night after night. But they knew their fans came to hear them sing the arrangement that they grew up listening to. In fact, the amazing thing besides maintaining the style, is how they, and especially Judith, have maintained the quality of their voices, even after 50 years! I applaud and thank them for considering their fans’ expectations, which is why their fans continue to love them so much after so many years.
A final thought regarding Judith’s departure from The Seekers in 1968. I have heard her mention several times now in various interviews, including this one, references to dying. There is a Bible verse that prays for God to “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” I’m not certain if Judith grew up with the knowledge of this verse, but it is clear that she has been aware of her mortality, even from a young age, and was determined to complete the tasks that she had planned and envisioned before her life was over. She is a determined soul, and her departure from The Seekers to fulfill her life’s goals can be forgiven. She will depart this life with no regrets knowing that she has fulfilled her dreams. We should all be as aware of our temporalness that “we may grow in wisdom”, as well.

@@virolo1960 I thought as much too but after I listened to this, I realized that this was a show in its own and not an attempt to impersonate Judith and that's okay with me. It's the recognition of the work that Judith gave us that is important. If the performance had been off key or done by a person that can't actually sing, then I would feel different.

The comments are all polite and respectful but I can't help but think fans of Judith Durham will cut anyone slack that's trying to honor The Seekers. That voice is so special.
Pipa does a fine job. I see a lot of people saying below that she doesn’t sound like Judith. That’s because she’s not Australian. I never realized how much Judith’s accent comes through in her singing till I heard Pipa sing this. I will bet there are a number of Australian singers that come very close to how Judith sounds. But, I’m certain there weren’t any available at the time they put this musical together. In any case, Pipa does a very credible job and duly honors Judith with her performance.
Judith, Pippa has an amazing voice, but she sounds nothing like you. Georgy Girl is just not the same without your unique sound. Pippa sounds great, like a “professional singer,” which I know you are too, but your voice is more relatable, especially to those of us who remember your original version! I still remember the movie, too! It is the first time I ever saw Lynn Redgrave. Ever since that film, she has been a favorite of mine. Who else remembers her American TV show, where she worked in a hospital?

I'm sure all four cast members grew up listening to the seekers and telling their families that one day I will be on stage doing the songs I grew up with,in a musical we'll they got the chance but the musical tanked.
Nice performance. But what sets Judith apart is that "clarion" as I call it voice, which sounds like every note sounds like a bell hit with a metal hammer.
