That's all it is today; just noise! Back in the time when this song was recorded songs told a story. Today's youth listening to this noise today is an audiologist dream to make a lot of money later on. I have hearing problems but at least mine was due to military action, not listening to this thumping stuff they have today.

Beautiful time to grow up. 1960s , so many memories of people who have left us who were a huge part of my life. People were kinder, life slower, everyday an adventure . I grew up listening to the Seekers and singing their songs with my siblings and cousins. Beautiful blessed.time.

The sixties were tumultuous, an era of such great music, iconic personalities, and life-changing events, good and bad. Seeing and listening to groups like the Seekers and especially Judith Durham who has one of the most distinctive voices and the greatest smile of any generation makes me miss those days. So ironic, I never would have thought when looking back to that time in the '60s that it would conjure such peace and tranquility. Didn't realize it at the time but now I consider myself so fortunate to have been a teen growing up in that era.

Little brother played 'born to late' on MY record player a thousand times when Mom told him she was 22 and he was on;y 5. I was about 12. If he really loved her, he'd let a man her age marry her. The ship Fairsky is almost the 5th member of the band in this video and it is worth a bit of description. She started life as a C3 cargo vessel being built in San Fransisco, but was completed as a Bogue Class escort carrier, the USS Baines. She served in WWII as HMS Attacker, a Royal Navy ship that served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, equipped with up to 24 aircraft and a crew of 650. One of her first actions was to provide air cover for the Allied landings during Operation Avalanche/Battle of Salerno and later for Operation Dragoon/Invasion of Southern France. She also served in the Pacific and was at the surrender of Japanese forces in Penang at the end of the war.
Attacker was converted to a passenger ship, Fairsky, and spent 18 years sailing between Australia and England. Australia had a policy in which British families could emigrate to Australia for just £10 per adult. She was the ship the Seekers used to move to England to start their career and she was also the ship that most of the BeeGees used to move to England, and they also played while on board.

Life is full of surprises as being a great fan right from when the Seekers first sang in the U.K., I have to admit that I have never heard this Meaningful, Melodic and Beautiful song of theirs.
I was born in the U.K. in 1936 and was in the U.K. when the Phenomenal Seekers Gracefully and Lovingly brought their Beautiful selves and their Musical Magic to the U.K. and made the World sit up and LISTEN...How fortunate were we, then in 1979 we as a family applied to Migrate to Australia in 1979, in August 1982 we flew into Sydney, we have Never looked back and are all Australian by choice.... Immediately after setting foot on Australian Soil We were Home having crossed the Wide Water.
You are ... We are... We are Australian!. ....Before I disappear through the Curtains on my last journey I would love to hear as OUR National Anthem to replace the current meaningless Australia Fair.
    Thank you the Seekers .

Yes Judith was great but this is Bruce on vocals and a superb voice too. I have been playing this a lot recently as it is yet another poignant reminder of how we used to mingle together before this horrible virus. I am 66 and wonder whether we will have such simple togetherness in the rest of my lifetime. xxxx

Sang this song in High school in the early 70's. I thought it was beautiful then. Mr Cogswell was the choir teacher. He introduced the class to many more meaningful songs. One of my favorite classes.

I think this is an old Scottish folk song, nobody has ever sung it like The Seekers. They're all so young here it's sad.......Judith is 21 in this. RIP Judith you will be loved by millions for ever. The ship in the video 'Fairsky' sailed the migrant UK to Australia route from 1958 - 1972. It was eventually demolished in 1980 after a fire.
