I've owned that exact car (same color and everything) for 16 years now. It's a tank- I think the only thing that I had to repair is the exhaust and the altenator. It starts first time every time! Probably the most reliable car I've ever owned. With the seats down, the rear has about as much room as a small pickup truck :) Great in the snow too. On the minus side, it's severely underpowered and strains on the highway. 0-60 is in the 10-12s range. There's no traction control, and the rear brakes are drum brakes, so brake performance isn't the best.
I owned one for 6 years with the 5 speed manual. They’re almost the same in performance but the manual being marginally faster 0-60. I gutted the car entirely down to the metal and put bucket seats in it. With an intake, exhaust, coilovers you surprise a good amount of people. Can keep up with a lot of cars. You can get turbo kits for them since they run the same engine as the Corolla. 2zr-fe
No it is not, 1.8 is plenty enough for the highway, if the 1.5 does fine on the highway the 1.8 does amazing on the highways, you are probably morbidly obese and straining the car
Own one since 2009 , basically a yaris suspension and chasis. With a corolla engine , cheap maintenance. 180,000 miles. One water pump , changed it myself. 1 clutch change . 35mpg average ( puerto rico streets) full tank gets about 300 miles , manual . No leaks , love it . Small inside but great for students , really easy to park. Interiors really well built , easy to clean . Regular wash inside and out takes like 1 hour or less. Rear seats drops down and you have plenty of cargo space when needed. Best daily driver I've had really reliable. Just test drive it if you're a tall person .
I have a 2010 XD with 268k miles. I have driven the car everywhere and it's given me no problems. One time I had the wrong size tire for a few months...no issues...except it drove crazy. Everythings work perfectly! Great car!
I had a scion xb and had 250k on it and it would be still running if I didn't hydro lock the engine. The oil leak on some were a problem with the rings. My engine had the problem and Toyota paid for the engine replacement.
@@nagyhanna3758 drove through a puddle in a banked curve that ended up being almost 2 feet deep and I had cold air intake on it so it suck the water right in. I fixed it enough to sell tho
I love the Scion XD!! Im currently 18 yrs old and I was thinking of a Scion XA or a TC as my first car, and it's currently on my first car list. The reason I say this is because they're one of the most fuel saving, practical, cheap, fun, and reliable economy cars out there. Scion existed from like 2001 to 2017 and the iM was the last production model they ever made. The reason Scion went out of business is because they never made SUVs (which are the most popular segment), and I wish Scion still existed today cuz Scion is one of my fav car companies out there!!
My 87 Celica was rated at 35MPG highway, but I would consistently get 40MPG when taking long interstate trips through non-congested areas. That is still considered pretty good 35 years later.
I remember someone mentioning how '80s Honda Civic hatches got 40MPG plus. However, the reason they did was because they has much fewer safety features. The person later commented how one wouldn't want to be in a front-end collision in one of those.
I know how you feel my 2018 Civic can get me 48 MPG on long road trips and it feels great looking at other people in huge trucks that get their MPG in the single digits 😂
@@dav__made Too bad every car doesn't get the MPG that your Civic gets. Automanufacturers are greedy folks who don't want us to have the entire 🎂. They either give us a slice of great MPG or just a slice of Raw Horsepower and speed. But what we should be getting is a fully made 🎂 with great MPG, Raw Horsepower and speed together. If you get the drift of what I am saying. Basically a V8 Powered monster with 50 MPG and ZERO Pollution. It can be done but the Automanufacturers don't want us to have that because they are trying to appease the radical environmentalists now.
I love the Scion xD so much that my boyfriend and I BOTH bought one! The build quality is amazing for something that was meant to be a bottom base econobox!
@@Mr.President.2028 no he’s not bro, look how freaking clean his car interiors are, he’s not a sloppy thing. That’s kind of a stereotype. Don’t judge a book based by its cover. Also that cover just gently hitting the pavement doesn’t hurt it, I’ve done it & it only breaks if you step on it, which Scotty obviously doesn’t. Dam bro your ridiculous
@@Blakecryderman7244 I observe his actions, not just one or two times. In today's video "Here's How I Get My Cars to Last Over 400,000 Miles", he threw the engine cover again at 16:48. Look at how Car Care Nut does for reference/comparison; he put the parts on the mobile cart. That is how you show "respect" to your customers, you treat their stuff with care.
I usually start up my 2013 Prius and use the power mode which uses the battery and the 1.8 L engine it laid rubber because I needed to get into the traffic, I only use the power mod for maybe 5 minuets then go back to the ECO mode; what a car over 170,000 miles and still runs like new without any problems, Thanks Toyota
I bought my daughter a 2009 Scion XA for graduating high school. She drove it all through college. I changed the oil with Mobil 1 every 8000 miles. She put over 200,000 miles on it. No problems. It was a great car.
One of my friends has worked for Toyota for 20 years. A few years ago, when they announced cancelling the Scion, they offered a limited edition where they only made 600 something in a limited edition trim. Being an employee of Toyota, he gets a pretty nice discount on a new car every few years. He had bought his wife a new Toyota minivan a few years ago and the anniversary date of his discount just happened to come up, so he bought one of the limited edition models. He's a big guy, too, weights more than 350. He flip flops between an older Chevy SIlverado and his Scion as his daily driver. It's a spectacle to see him get in and out of it.
i'm a 6'2" 430 lb guy my 1st car was a 2016 Scion tC and until the AC blew out 8 months after i bought it i LOVED it...bought it new...now own a Coyote Mustang and hope to have the same fun as my tC
I have a 2006 Scion xb at over 318,000 miles. It's burning oil, and the transmission is going, but it's hanging in there. It's been a great vehicle. Just dying to upgrade soon.
Love his videos, but would prefer in this one that he didn't talk with the hand that was holding his phone. Camera was thrashing around while doing the engine compartment tour like he was having a seizure.
I bought an '08 Scion xD back during the Cash 4 Clunkers debacle. Currently have 270k on the engine and it still runs like a top! One thing though, that 2ZRFE does like to have bad water pumps. I've replaced mine twice.
You're adding value to my second car Scotty, thank you! Original owner of a 2014 xD with 91k miles & I recently traded in my used 2008 TSX with 110k for a used 2019 Frontier 4x4 midnight edition with 15k miles. The xD is amazingly reliable with basic maintenance OMG such a gas saver without the Prius price tag. Thank you for your knowledge Scotty I couldn't have done anything with my vehicles or made wise choices regarding which ones to get without you, you're amazing!
I always learn something new from you Scotty. I recently replaced my iridium plugs, I put anti-seize on them. Car wasn’t running right, so I pulled my plugs again and one of them was very loose! Thanks for the solid advice as always
I love the way Scotty just gets ahold of those plastic covers and flips them aside. "Hey Scotty, I have a 2006 Camry that's missing the plastic cover. Do you have a spare you can give me"? "Hmm, I think so let me go in my garage. It may take me awhile as there's about 2,000 in there."
@@commonconservative7551 the covers solely exist to make the engine compartment look "cleaner" i personally prefer looking at the engine and everything about it, not some plastic with letters on it
@@commonconservative7551 it keeps in some of the heat from the engine yes, but actually thats bad for the engine, you want it to be at operating temperature, and if the engine overheats, then the cover will help in keeping it overheated... its possible im wrong, but ive never seen any engine cover that actually helps the engine, unless you count some sort of hood intake thats integrated into the engine cover
Scion XB--I've had three--first in 2006 had 1.8 liter engine--great car, thought I'd have to push it up mountains, but not so--the 2006 I traded for a 2012 XB with the 2.4 liter engine-my daughter had problems (family issues) so I gave it to her--it's still running like a top.. Bought another 2012-this one white-runs great, uses no oil...I don't think it's as much the engine or engine size as upkeep on the vehicle and how they're driven...I was (retired now) an automotive quality engineer--Scion was a joint venture, Toyota and Subaru, Toyota made the drive train and Subaru made the body--if you can find a GOOD Scion - it's worth it!
wife and i bought a 09 xd manual with 43000 back in 2019 and that little car is excellent, we just send it out to puerto rico where we have a vacation place..
I just recently got my 09 XD. My suburban crapped out and I needed a cheap car quick. Never before has a car pleasantly surprised me like this thing. I'm 6 ft 2, and weigh 280 lb. I can comfortably fit myself, and three friends my size in this thing. Something new amazes me everyday with it. I just found out yesterday that it's apparently rated to tow 3500 lb.
wait can it seriously tow 3500lbs? I have a 2012 xd and I installed a hitch mainly to use hitch-mounted cargo carrier but it could also come in handy if I needed to tow a small trailer. According to my driver's manual, its not rated at all for towing or even for cargo carriers/bike racks. I installed the hitch anyway and have had no problems using it for a cargo carrier but i just make sure not to put too much weight on it.
Thank you Scotty! I've had my 2012 Scion xd for 5 years now and best car I ever had, really appreciate this video. Maybe do one for an automatic transmition in the future please?
Toyota execs: "young Americans are not buying new cars like they use to, we need a new brand" New cars: *cost more than an average young adult earns in a year*
I have 2011 scion tc and love it. 6 speed manual transmission. Fyn little car. It has traction control and comes with the Camry engine which is very dependable and doesn't use any oil between changes.
We have an '06 Scion Xb, and it is the perfect car for my wife to bang around town and do errands and go to the grocery store. I love driving it, too. Only 2 small concerns: I wish it had factory cruise control, and it has to warm up enough for the cold-engine light to go off before the auto will shift into its highest gear. That 2nd one is kinda strange. We've put over 130K miles on it, and I hope it lasts forever. It's like the Tardis...bigger on the inside. I wish I had 2 of them.
I always wondered why some automatic cars had tachometers as they’re really superfluous. Then, I started driving buses: big engines with automatic transmissions, the tachometer is essential as an indicator when there’s a fault like a slipping gear or overheating problem.
I had a 2004 Scion Xb, and I loved it! Roomy (you could wear a top hat in it), fun to drive, reliable (I almost forgot how to open the hood). Plus I loved the bare-bones, non-jazzy, utilitarian look of it. I never liked the 2nd Gen version, although I suppose it was a good car. I wish Toyota would revive the 1 Gen version, as a fun compact 'SUV'.
The problem is that the 2nd generation xB wasn't nearly as good as the 1st. They used the 2.4L "oil-burners" and weren't even technically xBs. They rebadged the Toyota Rumion from overseas, while we missed out on the real 2nd generation Toyota xB (bB).
I absolutely love my ‘12 Scion xb, but it had the same oil problem on the 2.4L. Luckily when they were fixing my airbag recall, they noticed the problem & fixed it for free. Since then I haven’t had a single problem with it!
We drive a 1998 Avalon with 261k miles and a 2006 Explorer with 180k miles. We could use an affordable car that people don’t laugh at us and will last. No frills works. We bought a 2008 Rogue with high mileage. Looked well maintained. Didn’t throw any codes. Drove 7 months and transmission died. Sold for parts. Nissan Jatco transmissions are garbage. Now we know. A year ago we were desperate to find a cheap, dependable car. Oh well.
Best scion is the iM 2016 beautiful European style Corolla hatchback that looks and drives sporty and is Gad efficient and reliable. Super nice speakers too.
Bought a 1 owner 09 XD several months ago with only 20,022 miles on it for my daughter to use in college. Great car. Update...Car now has 32k miles after owning it for 3 years. Running great.
I have a 2004 scion xA, and I changed the clutch, and did spark plug myself, and it's running better now. I did a oil change at the Toyota dealer, and a brake switch change, and I find that it runs ok.
Scottie my friend ,you are awesome! Absolutely love every one of your vids and respect your integrity very much. Bless you and may you live long and make us better.
If I found a Corolla like the one you had, I'd never sell it. Dang, that thing slaps 🔥🔥 I already own two from the same era, rx60 Cressida and a Nissan Laurel. The only modern vehicle at our house is my wife's 2018 Civic.
I have an 2009 Scion XD and the two things that bug me about it are that the blind spot from the rear passenger side is horrendous, and the plastic oil filter cannister is impossible to get off with hand tools. My son doesn't like how tightly packed everything is in the engine compartment, but he has beefy arms, lol.
I bought my daughter a 2008 XD with 43,000 this past summer from a retired school teacher. Barcelona Red auto, and she loves it. Great little car. Her previous car was a 2009 Corolla LE with 263k on the odometer, but it was starting to nickel and dime us. Still got $3300 for it. We love our Toyota's. Or Scion.
@@rayrayballer1 it's been a workhorse. I fill it up twice a week. Get an average of 34-36 mpg per tank. Peppy car. Got it up to 115 before it ran outta steam. I can see keeping it for awhile. Easy to work on.
@@rayrayballer1 the only option for the US market I believe is the 1.8 4 cylinder. Peppy motor. Acceleration is more than adequate. I wish I had the manual transmission though.
I bought a 2009 XD with 31 miles on it in 2009. It now 2024 and it runs and drives just like the first day i had it. No major issues as long as you maintain it. ive replace an alternator, had suspension work on it, brakes, regular maintance and I have never had any major issues!! Its is ready to turn 200,000 miles at 198,000. I sometimes think to trade it in but why would I want a car payment if I dont have to? I'll run this till the engine can do no more.
I got a 2013 Scion xD in 2021 with only 90k mi on it. That thing is a tank. Drove it from CA to NC. I’ve driven that thing to TX and VA. I take good care of it and it takes care of me! That and I have a 1989 Toyota Corolla LE sedan. Drives like new. These cars are built tough.
I have an '08 Scion xD that was gifted to me because it needed a new timing chain. So I ended up buying a matching engine out of a '13 Corolla for $400 and swapped it myself. Then all it needed was front wheel bearings and it has run like a dream ever since. It's a really zippy little lady. I also have a '16 Scion iM. The last Scion!
Regarding the hot starting problem... Check the coil pack (if it has one) I have a 2004 Aveo that had the same problem intermittently. My research indicated when an older coil pack would get heated up, it could/would malfunction. I replaced the coil pack and have had no more problems. May be similar in the Scion... BTW and FWIW...I love my Aveo...It is well maintained (Timing belt at 65K) and totally dependable, nimble and fun.
My 2015 XB is fine. They put correct Pistons. But I know plenty of people who have earlier ones without the issue, or has the work done by Toyota via campaign.
I've owned a 2011 for 10 years with 1.8L engine. In that time had water leaking from the tailgate, wheel speed sensor fail and the evap cannister needing to be replaced 3 times (each time id take one off of a junked yaris, great for parts for thr xD), clogging AC drain lines. Never needed to change the sparkplugs, had 197km on it. Despite that I'll miss the car. The electric power steering was nice in it too.
My 09 vibe 2.4 5spd is running great for years. No oil issues. Unfortunately used ones cost 5-7k in good shape. The new Corolla hatchback would be a nice replacement if it wasn’t 20k
The Scion brand was just in NAFTA. The same car model is called Toyota Ist (second generation) Toyota Urban Cruiser. You could also get it with 4WD (only fitted with the turbocharged diesel engine (1.4 liters) on the EUDM. I’ve had a 2009 Toyota Urban Cruiser. The same car model - only fitted with a smaller engine and a 6-speed manual transmission instead of the 1.8 liter with a 5-speed manual transmission (when not fitted with an automatic transmission).
Toyota is the best of the best I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with a 4 cylinder 2.7L engine it has over 200,000 miles and still runs great the transmission shifts as smooth as a feather, what more does anyone want??? My 2013 Prius is just as good if not better?
When these were coming out Our Stagehand Union Hall got a call to build this big Show to introduce them at a Car Show. Ludacris performed(He was a Sweetheart Guy!) and they gave Us all a Mix CD that I still have somewhere! Laughed as you mentioned it Scotty.
I just Bought a 2006 Scion xA for dirt cheap and runs like new no complaints for a cheap car , and just because it only has a 1.5l 4 cylinder pushing 103 hp it keeps up with highway traffic no problem and it has phenomenal gas mileage. For a $1100 car not bad at all with 130,797 Miles and being that it's a Toyota underneath it'll run forever.
I think Toyota created the Scion brand back in the early 2000s to cater more to the tuner kids. They were actually kinda popular back then. Those kids grew up got old and started families so they stopped buying these types of cars. The sales just weren't there anymore so Toyota discontinued them
Hey Scotty! Here in Germany we translate F.I.A.T. into "Fehler in allen Teilen" = errors in all parts or into "Für Italiener ausreichend Technik" = enough tech for Italians. Neither correct nor nice but hilarious as they were known for all kinds of problems. Shalom from Germany
i have an 06 xb with 314,000 miles on it. it was my commuter car so 95% freeway driving. at 200,000 miles i changed the plugs and front brake pads. changed oil every 10,000 miles with mobil 1. that plus gas are my only expenses other than 6 sets of tires. it still runs great. it’s funny that they marketed this for the young crowd. almost all were driven by old farts like me. it’s the world’s easiest car to get in and out of.
Completely agree. I inherited my pop's 2005 xB. He bought it in his late 70's and drove it until he passed in his mid 80's. He loved that car! Despite having a garage full of nice German cars, I'm keeping and maintaining my dad's Scion. I love that thing too! So versatile and fun to drive.
I had an 81 Accord that was hard to start when it was hot and sat for a while. I think it was the ethanol in the gas that was causing it to vapor lock. I spent a lot of money getting that car worked in and nothing worked until I changed the gas.
The XA and XB was actually to hook the club kids! Look at the cup holder and dash lights they offered on them, and then look at the 3rd one they offered... called the TC! They dropped the X on that one, but that's exactly who these cars were marketed to... kids that were into the club scene. The third car should have been the XTC! LOL! It was absolutely marketed towards DJs and club kids.
I bought a 2008 Toyota Scion with 51k miles 4/6/2024 while watching this video in the dealership of kia. I was in the middle of signing a kia Rio used made in Mexico when i asked the dealer to hold on let me watch if kilmer made a video 😂😂😂. You made a video about not buying used kias made in mexico i broke out laughing in the dealership 😂😂😂 it was so real. Thank you sir after i collected myself i saw they had the scion and i searched your videos on scion. I got a steal 2008 scion xd base (econobox) 1.8 engine 51k miles for 7k$
I just bought a 2005 Scion Xa. Engine is still dry as a bone with zero leaks, and it runs like a new car at 200k. I fully expect to get another problem free 200k. Toyota makes damned good engines.
THAT WAS EXCEEDINGLY INFORMATIVE TO ME. THANK YOU! I was thinking about getting myself an older used, kiick around, Toyota. Now I'm thinking. A SION, with the,, 1.8 L and, manual stick. (If I can ffind it?) A logical choice! It's a Toyota! And yeah. Parts for years to come. Parts, forever. So,, whaat else of Toyota's might bolt on? How about a Supra,, grill? Avalon, taillights? What about a GR-8 front end grill? Could that bolt on? I've often thought about getting myself a used, 1970s-90s,Sting Ray. With a blown engine. And swap that V-8 out for a, 4 cylinder in-line engine. I won't when any races. Coming off a red light. But will have a greater chance of getting laid,, instead. As I'll take a fast partner and a slow car. I'm full of great automotive concepts. I'm from Detroit, from the 50s-60s. RemyRAD

See that, and here we are in 2022 and most new cars can't claim anywhere near that.
I had one over 400000 miles and yes the gas mileage was phenomenal didn't think about then being a young man !
Brought a 2013 Scion IQ with 69k miles and it’s great so far
I love the Scion xD so much that my boyfriend and I BOTH bought one! The build quality is amazing for something that was meant to be a bottom base econobox!

I have two of them!
I just bought a Scion xD because of this review by Scotty. Thanks dude!
I love how he just tossed the beauty cover. LOL

Thanks to Scotty, my son just bought a 2012 Scion tC 6-speed with only 127k miles. Not a bad price at 5700.00 and it has zero issues.
Does he work at the Georgetown KY plant? I'm from Louisville

Scotty is the most entertaining car expert out there.
I have a 2006 Scion xb at over 318,000 miles. It's burning oil, and the transmission is going, but it's hanging in there. It's been a great vehicle. Just dying to upgrade soon.
I love Scotty energy 😀

That's how he retrieves his wisdom and knowledge from his head database. 😂
Old Scotty has some Italian in his dog box maybe a grandmother only he can say. This I know from my own experience with an Italian grandmother..
Scotty talks with his arms, chef Rachael Ray talks with her hands. Both movements irritate me.
Without the expense of replacing the $4000+ Prius traction battery too.
How geeked was Scotty after he lit up the tires?
I always learn something new from you Scotty. I recently replaced my iridium plugs, I put anti-seize on them. Car wasn’t running right, so I pulled my plugs again and one of them was very loose! Thanks for the solid advice as always
So better not to put anti seize?
Yes, Scotty mentions this in the video.

Killing it as in raising it? Lol

I own three Scions. the one with the lowest mileage has 142,000 Mi on it. I love it.
Boy did I have that wrong. I always thought that Scion was a Nissan product all this time. Thanks for educating me.
Just brought a 2009 Honda Civic 4c 1.8L. Thanks, Scotty.
wife and i bought a 09 xd manual with 43000 back in 2019 and that little car is excellent, we just send it out to puerto rico where we have a vacation place..
1.8 got it, always thought the Xd and the Tc were sweet little rides and I love a stick
My 2010 1.8L 192k just got its first tune up. Omg it runs like new. 5spd 38mpg
I love this car. My xD has 95,000 since I bought it in 2011. I've only had one issue in 11 years when I had to replace the evap canister.
Just bought my 2014 xD and mine is the automatic version. I find it to be VERY reliable. Loved the video.
Thank you Scotty! I've had my 2012 Scion xd for 5 years now and best car I ever had, really appreciate this video. Maybe do one for an automatic transmition in the future please?
Toyota execs: "young Americans are not buying new cars like they use to, we need a new brand"
New cars: *cost more than an average young adult earns in a year*
😂
Now it's used cars twice as much as the new ones. Or a 25 year old car just as expensive as a normal used one 3 years ago lol
Wages haven't increased, rent really has, student loans, new cars aren't made the way they used to.
Who can afford a new car?
I was about to snap up an xB right after the previous owner had the piston rings changed. No oil burning here 👍
I have 2011 scion tc and love it.
The lack of an armrest was the big complaint with these vehicles in their hay day. After market ones are readily available.
Oh well.
Like all manufacturers, they have their good & bad engines. All vehicles just need regular maintenance to keep running right.
💯
You don't work on a variety of makes do you?
Obviously some manufacturers are better than others in terms of reliability and cost of ownership.
My man with another stellar review!!!
As a proud owner of the '11 Urban Cruiser, it's nice to be endorsed by the amazing Mr. Kilmer.
I like how Scotty just takes the engine cover of and throws it on the floor. I'd go nuts if someone did that to my car. Lol 🤣
Or Scion.
My Scion Gen1 xB TRD is the best car I've ever owned. I just changed the starter myself in under an hour.
Just bought one today! 2012 with 270k one owner. I watched this video today because I was on the fence about it. Scotty made the decision for me lol

I've got a Scion TC with the 2.5l no issues at all at 85k miles
I have an '08 Scion xD that was gifted to me because it needed a new timing chain. So I ended up buying a matching engine out of a '13 Corolla for $400 and swapped it myself. Then all it needed was front wheel bearings and it has run like a dream ever since. It's a really zippy little lady. I also have a '16 Scion iM. The last Scion!
Regarding the hot starting problem...
Check the coil pack (if it has one)
I have a 2004 Aveo that had the same problem intermittently.
I own a 2013 xd, love it, 96k, minimum maintenance, 5 spd., fast enough.
Yes that 1.8L is bullet proof I worked at a Lexus Toyota scion dealership. I’d stay away from 2.4 and 2.5 unless it’s 2016/17 and newer 2.5L
Agreed
Isn’t it the 2.4L ones that are oil burners?
I had an ‘07 2.4 and an ‘09 2.5 and they both burned oil including the 18 Kia Sorento 2.5 (1.5 qt. Per 1k mi.)
9:51 I wouldn’t exactly call that burning rubber, I would call it more like chirping rubber lol but touché Scotty!! I love it :-)
I love my Avalon, however, I’m not one that has to have a big ride. I would be just as happy with a 1.8 Corolla. Toyota is definitely the way to go!

For a $1100 car not bad at all with 130,797 Miles and being that it's a Toyota underneath it'll run forever.
Been thinking about getting one of these as a work car and grocery getter.
"Scion" is an Ancient Greek word meaning "student/apprentice" and Toyota was aiming for the Scion brand to be car ownership for beginners
I though 'family scion' meant leader or person who is looked up to in a family. Did I have that wrong?
From Scion also come Science, so it's a very broad term.
2600 RPM not bad at all my 02 CRV uses about 3000 on the 2.4l my dads Getz has to do around 3000 as well and its a 1.6
I think Toyota created the Scion brand back in the early 2000s to cater more to the tuner kids. They were actually kinda popular back then. Those kids grew up got old and started families so they stopped buying these types of cars. The sales just weren't there anymore so Toyota discontinued them
Great tip , they should bring the scion back
Hey Scotty! Here in Germany we translate F.I.A.T. into "Fehler in allen Teilen" = errors in all parts or into "Für Italiener ausreichend Technik" = enough tech for Italians. Neither correct nor nice but hilarious as they were known for all kinds of problems. Shalom from Germany

it’s funny that they marketed this for the young crowd. almost all were driven by old farts like me. it’s the world’s easiest car to get in and out of.
I spent a lot of money getting that car worked in and nothing worked until I changed the gas.
yep. I have a 2005 xA and a 2016 iA. and they are reliable.

It's probably inevitable. You can't fix problems 100% of the time on the first go round.
I have owned two Toyotas that don't have the Toyota logo....Geo Prizm and a Scion xB.
I just bought a 2005 Scion Xa. Engine is still dry as a bone with zero leaks, and it runs like a new car at 200k. I fully expect to get another problem free 200k. Toyota makes damned good engines.
Yes Scotty! I love my Toyota Tundra crewmax limited with an V8 engine 💪 on my way to the million miles Tundra club 👍
My 94 Celica has a 1.8 too!
