But simmer means nothing across the playing field. It is different for every pan or pot and each type of stove. This is why I stick with a rice cooker.
Also “cook on low” means nothing across different stoves. Even when they say “cook on the lowest setting” that means different heat for difference conductors
Measure out your rice. For brown you want 1 3/4 cups of water for every cup of rice. Bring your water to a boil and add the rice. After the water begins to boil turn that s*** down to low. Should be done in about 45 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when you see little pockets of holes begin to emerge.
Depends on the rice. Some is washed. Some varieties do and some font need it. Mostly it’s because starch, talc or.. are added to keep it seperate in the bag. I don’t wash Basmati but do give a ½ wash to Jasmine. If you buy big bags and you cook a portion you are not happy with, adjust water by 5% up or down until you have a perfect formula. I cook rice for 500 this way. Never fails.
@haxnoir9040 14 minutes. Bring to boil without lid, drop to lowest flame and put lid on. 11 minutes more it would be absolute mush. Try it and tell me what you think lol
