Good for you for rescuing it! Your method of getting it on a pallet and also securing it to the pallet with 2 small straps that (even if rated for that weight) would never prevent it from falling if it became unbalanced, was crazy. I've moved these before and straps like those are good for items in the back of a pickup, not a 2,500# Heidelberg. I'd use much stronger straps in the future if you ever move it again. Also there are 4 holes in the base that would nicely accept bolts into the pallet. Just my 2 cents.

Hopefully Jaraude will be a regular from now on. Also yellow bandannas

This was a good episode! Also, very terrifying like Jaws but with a letter press. Look forward to seeing the rest of this journey.

So what's the status of this project? I've had 3 Windmills over the years, and spent many years running them. I just got one recently that I'm running in my garage, and I bought one so I can teach letterpress at our local makerspace.

Didn't I see this press for sale recently? I recognize the tiles in the photos.

Any updates? I’m about to start the same project and would be interested in your experiences. I’ve done this project already with a Kluge letterpress and it was definitely noteworthy.

Honestly I am very daunted by the project. It hasn’t moved since I moved it but if I do get inspired I will document the process. Thanks for the checkin !

@@EExplores I just completed a crude video on my first steps in restoring my Heidelberg. It’s got some pointers in there as well. I hope you like it!
