I actually did wonder how the f2000 top rail worked. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen the optics without the cover.

Fun fact:
If you look closely during the reload animation for the Cavity 9mm, you can see that the magazine contains rare overpressure rounds with red tips. That explains why you have such low ammo reserves (overpressure rounds are hard to find) and why the gun has unusually high damage despite being chambered in 9mm.
I wonder if that's the same ammo 7 Days to die uses in it's 9mm? Ammo uses either a black tip, or red.
the fact that it does the same amount of damage as 7.62 DMR's/battle rifles and such is a bit silly lol

While there isn't some way to hide guns, guns do have a concealment rating which is useful for stealth and certain skills.
I'm fairly certain the Keltec has the one of the best concealments in the game for that
such as with the dodging mechanic and dodge builds, with the higher the concealment the more likely they would avoid taking damage from being shot at
yeah, cavity is one of the highest concealment primaries in the game, lets you have more options for your secondary if you're not taking a judge
@@ditto-w i just use a judge with a suppressor and akimbo pistols for my stealth build and I have 3 detection risk
@@fyretnt Yeah, that works too, but the Cavity just gives you an option to bring a rifle as your primary without going above 3 detection.

Fun fact, according to payday 2 wiki, the Microgun is actually based on the Empty Shell LLC XM556 Prototype that fires 5.56 and unlike the Microgun, its comically small.
Edit:By comically small, I mean over half a meter, specifically 558 milimetres, from some images, it's roughly the size of P90 which is amazing.
Double edit: I'd like to add that according to IMFDB, technically Payday 2 has more guns than it states and that's not counting the DLCs. You cna modify guns into different ones or facsimiles. For example, I learned something that made sense today. The KSP 58 is not a KSP 58, but it is in technicality. The first KSP, simply called just that was an M249, the KSP 58 is not a KSP 58, but a mishmash majorly leaning towards the M240B. Why does this make sense? Well, because apparently the M240B is the US adopted version of the KSP 58 and so in the logic of the world, it might as well be called the KSP 58 if the American gun was already called a KSP. It's an interesting compromise.
I honestly am thinking of making character thematic builds one day, just wish they added more weapon slots since I like having the realistic variants of these guns.

“Killing Floor 2” should definitely be a game that you review. Having Johnathan talk about the caseless shotgun that is the HM-Tech 301, and having him try to figure out how it could work - would be amazing. Talking about the “Frost Fang”, “G18c”, and Vlad-1000 Nail-Gun would also be amazing.

I would really love to see more Hunt: Showdown weapons. Not only did they add more since the last video, they also watched your video and made some changes in regards to your feedback.

@@KoishiVibin Jonathan fergusons comment on their reload animation for the Sharps/Sparks LRR in the last hunt showdown video he did was seen by the crytek game developers who went in and corrected the animation to be in line with Jonathan's description. Pretty cool!
They even noted publicly that it was because of Jonathan's video. 😎
Fixes the relaod animation, but your hunter still behaves like they're riddled with Parkinsons. "Welcome, the Hunt."

I'd love to see another episode on this! It was heartbraking to see him pull out the example Galil that can actually be made in the game with the gunsmithing and use it as an example of differences!
They are doing episode 2, Dave mentioned it right at the beginning.
I spent the entire episode waiting for the CQB barrel on the Thanatos, sure hope it's on the next episode.
Was looking forward to this one, but while Jonathan was discussing the reload animations during the F2000 segment, it shocked me that Killing Floor 2 hadn't been covered yet. A good lineup of both realistic and wacky guns, with standard reloads AND Elite, proficient reloads which I'm sure might be of interest.
A KF2 episode would be nice, really. Or maybe cover both KF1 and 2.
amazing insight as always. this game has a rather awful monetization model, but if nothing else it really forces them to add more unique weapons to the game, and it's nice to learn more about it

A video about MGS:V dissecting the guns and see what guns they're inspired from would be interesting seeing as they're real weapons but sligthly modified ( for licence purposes maybe ), or sometimes a mix of multiple real ones.
I'd love to see looks at all the Metal Gear games!
@@SorakuFett That'd be interesting for sure, I was just thinking about the V in particular since the other games actually used real guns whereas the V was a bit more original about it so it's more fun to try and analyze which gun is which.

I can definitely imagine John Ferguson being a new character in the game as a new Gage or something. Or a contractor to steal antique weapons from rich folk, no matter how cursed they are (made by their first owners).
The thing to remember is that they typically get a hold of airsoft replicas to model the in-game guns. So sometimes it's like playing a game of telephone but in 3D model form.
Supposedly, if you look into the action of the in-game P90 while doing a reload, you can see a feed port for airsoft pellets.

Concealment in Payday's a "how easily do I get spotted" mechanic, but off the top of my head the Kel-tec Sub-200's is one of the primaries people tend to use for max concealment.
Yes it has good per-shot damage and can easily fit in a minimum detection build
Ah, so glad he finally covered this game. I think I actually use the BRENs in-game. Or used to. The model didn't immediately look familiar but the name "Akimbo CR 805B" does. I'd use that as a secondary with the Microgun, which is a different (and still probably very wrong) gun then was shown here. Always thought the name "microgun" was very silly; never realized it was a real thing. Here's to hoping the next episode has the Garand and the ability to shove 3x as many bullets in it as it can physically hold.
That actually was the microgun. If you were using a different gun from that, you were probably using the Vulcan Minigun
@@screamingcactus1753 It seems my memory was off. I do own the Microgun, I just forgot what it looked like in first person. I think also part of it is I used it in VR more recently than desktop before swapping to dual P90s. I also think I might have different modifications on mine than whoever recorded this footage.
there is a single and akimbo version of BREN. single version is a secondary weapon, akimbo version is a primary weapon
@@ToriusHeart ...so it is. Just checked my inventory, and I own both single and akimbo versions. I think I'd use the single as a secondary to the microgun, and then started using akimbo in VR.
Seeing Jonathan nerd out about guns and game mechanics really brightens my week. Love this series and he is by far my favorite expert react on any platform. He needs merch lol maybe something like "no weapon charms" or something

I used to own a Kel Tec Sub2000 and the optic in the game always bothered me. Not to say you couldn't fold it still, but there is a latch around the front sight that secures it in it's folded position that wouldn't be possible with anything attached to the barrel.

The fact he's played the game and knows why certain guns are included for things like concealment makes this so much more of an actual in-depth review than I ever would've expected otherwise.

There should be 3 and 4. Payday has an INCREDIBLE amount of customization.
bruh, payday relies so heavily on gun customization but you can barely tell a beretta m9 and a glock 17 apart when you customize them both

It might already be recorded. I think that happened with another game at least once where it was shown briefly in a previous episode and then a week or two after there was an episode with that game.

Receiver 2 would be an interesting pick for Johnathan to react to. It's simulation-oriented gameplay is definitely a different and neat concept
The biggest catch about the shotguns is that every pellet does full damage, which makes the meta dropping the accuracy as low as possible, throwing any semblance of range out the window.
I thought it was that one pellet deals full damage but each additional pellet doesn't add more?

They actually recently changed it so the fact that the full damage is applied by the first shotgun pellet and every aditional one doesn't apply any more so. it is still viable to toss accuracy but hitting headshots is still key.

Most of those guns are real and never left the prototype phase
Mostly, those were just contemporary weapons, but with Greebles and inferior shading for a grimy look characteristic to early Treyarch CoD titles

Please could Mr Ferguson react to some of the more unusual Tenno and Grineer guns in Warframe, with seperate videos for either faction if possible. Think Jonathan will have a blast trying to get his head around the strange gun mechanisms present in that game
4:56 unfortunately, equip/unequip animation of SUB-2000 doesnt really mean much other than that it got a fancy equip/unequip animation so different from other weapons. but at least SUB-2K got a pretty respectable "concealment" value that, among other things, decreases the detection radius when you play stealthily, so there is that.
10:13 - F2000 actually got a fully modelled fire selector on the model, it just that devs decided to use the longer barrel by default instead of the standard F2000 shorter barrel that is available as an attachment
14:44 - well, PAYDAY 2 shotguns, for whatever reason, deal full damage that is listed in the menu, with each pellet, but the damage from each pellet doesn't sum up. on the other hand, PAYDAY 2 shotguns got a pretty insane range before the damage will start drop off, that it doesn't even come into play on most maps.

the sound design in PD2 is some of the best you'll ever hear in a game. they recorded live fire both indoors and outdoors, and the sound you hear while playing changes dynamically

I don't know why I always expected the scope on an F2000 to be more futuristic. It's just a tiny scope with a huge cover.
Most video game does not remove the scope cover, giving the illusion that the F2000 has this futuristic box-like scope

"Concealment" is indeed a stat on every gun and the Cavity/Keltec is pretty high.
I'm surprised they started off so tame with the modifications for episode 1 of Payday 2. I hope they go crazier in the 2nd part

Killing it gents!!! Any chance of you taking a look at Killzone series, Titanfall series, Wolfenstein reboot and Bioshock please? Really feel there is a lot here for Jonathan to look at especially Wolfenstein and Killzone as they are sci-fi but grounded weapons. Alot of Bioshock and Titanfall's weapons are also really interesting
The M82 from killzone is beautiful it's also my favorite sci-fi assault rifle.
I wish I could be friends with Johnathan, he seems such a cool and jolly dude.

Not Jonathan, but for Jiu Feng Pack 4 I can answer this:
The Argos is based on the MP-155 Ultima (which he reviews in "EVEN MORE Tarkov Guns"), and despite his lack of knowledge on it, it is real. The PAYDAY 2 version has a fictional targeting system instead of the actual thermal sight which is modeled in Tarkov.
The Wasp DS is the FMG-9 (he reviewed in one of the Siege videos), and unlike the Siege version has folding and unfolding anims-the picatinny rail is fictional. As he mentions, it was in RoboCop II!
The Gecko M2 is based on the Maxim 9, and visually seems to be the closest to the source gun. It is in fact an enormous integrated suppressed pistol, but I don't know if the shotgun-tier staggering power is appropriate for what is IIRC 9mm.
Whether or not they sound, perform, etc. in the way they should IRL, I can't say, that's a Jonathan thing. Weird thing that is worth noting is the Argos loads 2 rounds at a time (except for a dry reload which inserts a shell through the ejection port first), and unlike other shotguns the player flips the shotgun upside down completely to load. I believe flipping it upside down is fine but commonly done in a less tense scenario/when sitting.
@@eripmavsdyraid8763 the two round reload on the Argos is most likely a dual load, which does look cool but the weirdly stilted animations for any weapon released post-ending makes it feel really janky

I'm surprised that they went with the 762 version of the WA-2000 instead of the 300WM. Considering it's punching power it would probably make more sense.

You should react to the weapons of Killzone 2 and 3 next!, they are a mix of sci-fi and modern weapons with some that stand out.
Unfortunately, the weapons of Killzone typically suffer from the classic question of 'where does the bolt go?'.
Sadly, the recoil if I remember correctly is determined by the Stability stat, if you max this stat out you will have little to no recoil.
Edit: however please someone show John the MG42 WITH a gadget equipped because I know for a fact John is going to flip when he sees exactly WHERE said attachment is.

They're a weird mix of "clearly supposed to be realistic, but also not," and there's a recently released US weapons pack that has an m14-lookalike that I think might make Jonathan raise an eyebrow. 😂

I always thought the F2000 had different variants with the one that has that scope cover thing being a completely integral scope system. Neat to see that it is actually a traditional looking scope with a fancy cover :D
I do actually own Kel-Tec S2000. It is so cool that there is game with that unusual firearm. There is one thing off however. Weapon already has picatiny rail over the top by default, does not require mounting any other rails on it and second thing butting any attachments on it prevents folding ability. It is possible to fold the weapon only using standard rear stock sights.
