- Join me for an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of this collage as I navigate the challenges of bringing it to life. Creating art isn't always a smooth journey-there are moments when the vision doesn't align with reality, and finding the right solution feels like an uphill battle. But with perseverance and unwavering determination, we push forward. Never underestimate the power of persistence!
In this journey, you'll witness the struggle firsthand as I search for the perfect combination of papers to achieve a cohesive composition, where colors and papers harmonize and the overall feel resonates with me. Stay tuned to witness the transformation unfold and see how my persistence ultimately leads to success.

Thank you so much for being willing to share your creative struggle online! It is such a relief to know that other artists struggle too! I absolutely love the result of this work. I have had the same exact experiences, with discovering some unfavored piece of paper that provides the perfect solution, or finding that a random tear lines up perfectly with something that’s already on the page. This discovery brings so much joy! Allowing us to see your process is so instructive. Thanks again.
It's always surprising when that happens. I think we all struggle at times. I'm not good when I'm tired and lately I've been overdoing it. Getting ready for an exhibit is putting on the pressure to get things done. Thanks for watching.
The end result was beautiful. I love watching you change your mind as you go and end up creating something wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. You have to trust the process.
Thank you so much Susan, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and unique piece of artwork. It’s absolutely gorgeous too. And I particularly love the Mulberry paper it really was perfect for this piece. And I’m going to scour the Charity Shop’s to find board books, brilliant way to repurpose them. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Do they have consignment store that specialize in children's close and toys in your area? They might have them there as well.
I really love the therapeutic process of pulling gel prints -- so satisfying. But eventually you have to do something with them (even though I just like to look at them). Thanks so much for this thoughtful video. I tend to rush the process most of the time, so this reminded me to just slow down and enjoy being an artist.
Yes. Pause and enjoy the process. I still have so much paper that I haven't used yet. I tend to create new papers when I'm planning a collage. But they are good for journaling. Have you tried journaling?
thank you for sharing your successes and struggles! I'm very inspired by the shapes and colors in your gel prints.
Thanks for watching.
Super helpful. Thank you!😊❤
I'm glad.
Thank you, Susan, for sharing this. I can't tell you how this has encouraged me to see my projects through, and not give up in the middle (when it may be the most difficult). A side note: I really, really appreciate that you don't put music in the background while you're speaking. It's always very distracting to me when I'm trying to focus on an artist's process...and so many artists do it! (Plus your voice is very calming). Background music can be nice during non-speaking segments imho.
Thanks for letting me know that my video helped you. And thanks for the music feedback. I don't want to get rid of the music completely as some people have mentioned because others say they like it. So now I'm trying to include it when I'm not talking. It's a lot more work so on some videos I'm going to just leave it off. I have 2 videos from last year that have terrible comments about the music and it was frustrating. Some were very mean about it. I'm here just doing the best I can. LOL It was a pleasure meeting you.

I really love this one Susan and enjoyed seeing your process.
Thanks for watching.
Well worth the effort and time!
Thanks.
Your intuitive process creating the collage is magical. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
❤👏👏👏
love it ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching.
I was so excited about the collage book, but missed where the book comes from. Would you shredded where you get the books, please. SDV
It's just a book from any children's book store. Used ones would be good. I bought this one at Barnes and Noble because it was close to the studio. But I'm going to get used next time.
actually it’s a beautiful children book… almost to good 😅 but love this idea and will start do an art book too 🥰👍🏼
Great video. Where can I get this type of mulberry paper? Does it have a special name? Thanks. 🌺
It's Thai paper called Gossamer Mulberry paper. I found it at Blick. Here's the link: shrsl.com/4dci0
How you mount the boards on the wall behind you?
The artwork on canvas is wired in the back and the wood panel I use 3m strips that are velcro. So I don't damage the wall. They are not too heavy so I can get away with it.
