Loved making these booties. Thank you for suggesting to work both booties at the same time rather than finishing one and then starting another. That made all the difference! I don’t know how many booties I tried to make by making one in its entirety and then making the other. The result was always one was bigger than the other. When I tried this pattern, they came out beautifully!
Hi Karen, I have enjoyed this pattern. One thing I did find was it was easier to make the toe cover part using a magic circle rather than a chain 3. It closes up much nicer with a magic circle and doesn't leave a big hole over the toes. 😊
Thank you for your instructions on the converse booties. I love the history lessons as well. The think you teach crochet very well and I simply find you delightful! Thank you, thank you for sharing your talents and passion for crochet.
I am a beginner,,,I find your videos awesome. I am making the converse shoes with laces......They are so cute. Keep the videos coming They are easy to follow and I love your voice....and your little remarks every so often.
Hi Ma'am Karen thank you so much for this video I've learn how to make this baby boots which makes me so happy that I made it and followed it easier. God bless and more power❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘
It's funny that you were talking about left hand. My Mother was left-handed and I learned crocheting from her and I'm right-handed. She said that I'm the only one that she knows that picked it up from her the first time because most right-handed people find it difficult to learn from someone using the opposite hand. I love the lace eyelets that you included in the shoe for the laces. That would make it much easier to thread. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! :D
Thank you so much for this set of videos. You are very talented and you have made your videos very understandable. Additionally, it is fun listening to you talk...I tend to be so not-politically-correct that I just chuckled through that section. You are so right, it is hard to know what we can and can't say.
What an amazing teacher I have been crocheting for many years I just love the way u teach and I love the history lessons I have had a call for still bigger slipper like this I would so appreciate if you could let me know the adjustments to be made thank you for being such a great teacher
I have often thought that the art of crochet probably evolved from fishermen mending their nets at sea .. ancient navigators .. but that is just my theory with no proof .. good video those came out soooo cute and adorable Thank you much
Thank you very much Karen I did it and I am so happy , you make very easy to understand, and thank you for the history about crochet that you kindly share in your video, I love crochet and I love your English accent , I leave in Australia. :-)
Sahool Sahool hi Karen I am a slow lender so can you please slow down so I will understand better I am very slow in catching on I am learning very well I'm on the tongue I just not catching on on the tongue everything else I got it perfect will that tongue for some reason I am not catching on thank you so much for helping people like us
You are a good teacher. Am a beginner, l started crocheting with your video and l enjoy doing it along with you while watching the video. I will love to make a bigger sizees like 2_4 yrs. Pls can you make the video. Thanks
your Channel I just love the way you teach there are so many out here but you explain everything from step to step it is so easy to follow you and you do it in a nice Pace you don't go too fast and you don't go too slow which is wonderful so I thank you Karen for taking the time out to teach us I'm in the United States I live in Pennsylvania and I enjoy I'm about to have my great-granddaughter and I just love these little slippers I'm going to make her her the James slippers and the convert slippers but in pink and white I think these are so adorable and thank you so much do you have any baby jackets and baby dresses that you have done and where can I find them thank you so much for your time and for your teaching God bless TV
Thanks for a great video and easy to follow, Ive made the petite ones for expected grandchild and will be making the 4 inch ones for the next size up soon. :)
brilliant videos of your patterns, Karen. I've made quite a few of these slippers and about to start another pair. Also enjoyed listening what you'd found out about the origins of crochet. Very interesting!!
Hi Karen. How lovely to find your booties to crochet - nearly at the end now! Thank you. It was great to hear your history of granny squares, I realised you were a 'northerner' and I am just down the road in Mansfield! Great to find you, keep up the good work :-)
For those asking without response....you can just do a magic circle, chain 1, then do 8 HDC in the ring and then follow along with the rest as usual. Mine came out perfect and it was easy to pull it tight. I hope that makes sense.
great videos Karen. I'm a beginner. I cannot find the part 4 to finish this petite baby converse. Please, could you tell me o send me the link for part 4.
Hi l was trying to crochet your new born baby converse style slippers and I can not find the end part Like your way is very good to understandThank you for
The moon shape for the toe I have done in reverse. II did a chain of 16, then turned and did a sc in each stitch, turn then do a dbl in ev other stitch to reduce down to 8 stitches, turn then do a dbl in ev other stitch to 4 stitches. This leaves a level enough edge to continue with the tongue. Hope this helps.
I have made these and they turned out beautifully. Have you ever made cowboys. really need a good patter for them. Thank you for your videos, they are a great help.
I made a pair for my grandson for Christmas and they were a big hit. Now his sister wants a pair (actually whole family does) so my question is... Which pattern do I need for adult size 9 us?
Suggestion: When you say 'leave a really long tail,' perhaps it would be helpful if you said how many inches. I keep running short and have to attach more, which of course leaves an unsightly knot... Otherwise, great lesson!
Hi Karen, when I'm making the tongue I end up with a mess. it has to do with the magic knot. how do you keep it from getting bigger? how do you keep the hole from getting looser or bigger as you are doing your eight stitches in the last chain? the first one I did had no problems, now I'm having a heck of a time, I'm getting odd shaped. can't keep them even.
I have just found your site. It is very good. I am enjoying making my Granddaughter to be some of your slippers. One question though. Being new to crochet, I can't see how you manage to pull the yarn to make the hole in the tongue smaller. Do you catch the tail end under the stitches?
+Teresa Barker Thank you for your lovely comment. I'm happy you're enjoying my videos :) No I don't work my yarn under my stitches, I personally love to be able to pull my ends tight and sew them into place. I always leave a long tail end to sew in, normally 10 to 12 inches because it's easier for me to work with.
Thank you for making me work in pairs and breaking these down in to parts, it seems much quicker to do. The pattern I have crocheted before, the toe is compicated to crochet in, then you add the tongue in from the side of the toe after. This is easier. I am just curious why you use US terms on not UK? It confused me at first, but I am familiar with both. I love the variation of them and the different sizes.
I am very confused I started with video 1 then everyone said it’s too big for newborn. Which video do I watch for Newborn...which video first second third or fourth... which should I be following and are the corrections in the printed pattern under the video. Our baby is going to be 4 weeks and I would like to make them fit. They are so cute and you have a soft touch. I am just confused, but want to try and make them!
Love your videos. Are we allowed to download your video to watch off-line due to my net here is limited and it uses more for me to keep watching? For personal use only.
Is there anyway you could make the “vans” every pattern I’ve seen is in another language. I absolutely loved making theses and I’m definitely going to have to start working pairs it’s so much easier!!!
Hi Karen I am having so much trouble with the start of the tongue. I am doing the first part and once I finish I am unable to pull in to make the hole smaller I just get a knot which won't move. What am I doing wrong is it the way I am starting my chain? I have spent 2 hours just trying to get this right I am just about ready to give up 😢😢
I can not do it either, turns into a big mess, and even tried the magic circle, which makes closing it a breeze, but it don't even come close to anything Karen makes :(
found this posted further down in the comments.....^^For those asking without response....you can just do a magic circle, chain 1, then do 8 HDC in the ring and then follow along with the rest as usual. Mine came out perfect and it was easy to pull it tight. I hope that makes sense. (worked for me too)!
as a novice i struggled for ages doing the loops and i realised that there were errors in the written transcript. I am hard of hearing and had to listen to the video about eighty times to get the gist of what was being said. Before someone helpfully points out i could just watch the video> I am dyslexic and the mirror image thing is difficult. It would be really helpful if you could state when colour changes are being made as I finally succeeded in making a booty but the colours were reversed lol
I hope you will not worry about being "PC" .. I would most hope we aren't so afraid to be ourselves and be free to be who we are because of the "PC" police that somehow we who are simply good, normal people live in fear of who might be offended by US. It seems the evil element are as always not the least bit concerned about offending US :)
Found this in the responses, and it worked for me, Good Luck...….For those asking without response....you can just do a magic circle, chain 1, then do 8 HDC in the ring and then follow along with the rest as usual. Mine came out perfect and it was easy to pull it tight. I hope that makes sense.
How you speak confuses me so much. When you were saying "turn" I though you were saying "two", so I was on my second shoe before I realized what you said. Please annunciate. And I have absolutely no idea what you are doing on the tongue after the sixteen single crochets. Something about a bar?
+Kathryn Mason I'm sorry you couldn't understand me. I have put the written versions under the videos for people with hearing difficulties or language barriers. That way I'm not leaving anyone out when sharing my patterns :) Thank you for watching :)
Thank you for including the written pattern. I had no problem understanding your verbal instructions, but it is nice to have a reference guide to help beginners like me along the way. :)
Love Karen and her channel. Studying these for my first grandchild.
I love your baby slippers how can I get a written pattern for the different sizes

This was easy to follow even though it seems hard for beginners like me, but I find no difficulties making it and I really love it
Hi Karen. I enjoyed doing your stuff, but you don't show how to make the lace for the converse. Please do. Thank you.
premmie video has so much more detail in the instructions. made the premmie one with ease but finding this newborn one awkward in comparison 😟 x
Çok güzel oldu 👋🌹👍

Can you make a 6-9 month old one?
Where can I find your video that contains information about the history of the granny square?
In which part are you showing the extra soul you made and attached it
Thanks
I can't seem to find part 1 of the newborn converse bootie videos. I've seen parts 2-5, but can't find part 1.
Hi Karen I am having so much trouble with the start of the tongue. I am doing the first part and once I finish I am unable to pull in to make the hole smaller I just get a knot which won't move. Donna Jones same!

Why do you do most of your sewing in of the tail ends on the outside of the bootie, rather than pulling it through and doing it on the inside?
+Kathleen Andreasen I do it that way because I think it's easier to get a good finish.
Where are the other 2 videos?
no matter what i do on the half moon shape... i can't pull my tail to tighten up the hole. it just creates a tighter knot. :-(
Shannon Harriman me too have you worked out what we are doing wrong?
it worked for me when i do the magic circle
I'm having the same problem too 😕
Shannon Lee jm
i used the magic circle. worked well for me
❤️
What size hook did you use?
I used a 4mm crochet hook, it's also called a G6 hook in USA
Hi how do you buy the pattern please
+Cheryl Woods You can buy my patterns at www.etsy.com/uk/shop/cottagecake thank you for watching my videos :)
The link to buy your pattern doesn't seem to be working.

verygood37 yeah me niether. Sounded fine to me. Some people just can't crochet and look for something to blame it on I suppose.
