  • How to crochet my easy petite converse style slippers is my first of a set of my easy crochet converse style slippers. Larger sizes will be published soon. My new twist to the popular slipper is buttons. The pattern is exactly the same, the only difference is the choice of laces or buttons :)
Thank you to everyone who watches my videos, thank you for the likes, subscribing and sharing, I hope you have lots of fun with these.
I have broken the pattern down into sections because I found that is the easiest way to follow my instructions.
My easy Crochet Petite Baby Converse Style Slippers 3 inch sole
Using a 4mm hook and double knitting yarn
    Sole and base
    ch 9
R1. 3sc in the 2nd ch from the hook
    sc in the next 2
    hdc in the next 2
    dc in the next 2
7 dc in the next (end of ch)
    dc in the next 2
    hdc in the next 2
    sc in the next 2
2 sc in the next (use hidden st)
sl st to join in the 1st sc
R2. ch 1, 2 hdc in the next (not the same, but the next)
    hdc in the next 7
2 hdc in the next 7
    hdc in the next 7
    2 hdc in the next
sl st to join in the 1st hdc
R3. ch 1, sc in the back loop of the same space
sc in the back loops of the next 33 (total 34 sc)
sl st to join in the 1st sc
R4. ch 1, sc in the same space (both loops for this round)
sc in the next 33 (total 34 sc)
sl st to join in the 1st sc
fasten off but don't sew in loose ends just yet.
If this is your first slipper, make a 2nd base to match,
working these in pairs works best.

Thank you Karen! I've made a few pair of these sneakers and they're adorable. You mentioned that they're floppy at first. I found that by making a back post half double crochet around the stitch instead of a back loop single, the shoe holds its shape better.
    Thanks again!

You did this video long ago but I want to share with others you are right about working both shoes together: not finishing one then starting over again. I find best to do two at a time, also. Tension can change a bit from one day. And, I find it’s dreadful completing one then starting over w another. sometimes I can’t finish both in one day due to outside interferences.
I enjoy listening to your suggestions on crocheting, Karen. Great tutorials!

Hi Karen .. Love these tutorials and have made a couple pair already and wanting to make more .. I seem to have a problem with the soles .. I'm new to crocheting other than the basic granny square ... Some soles turn out ok but others I'm missing stitches or ending up around the bottom of the heel when it comes to slip stitching at the end of the round... I have pulled them undone and started again numerous times .. I'm counting carefully but not sure if I'm putting my hook in the right place if that makes sense ..lol .. I too have some "vintage hooks" as you called them but recently purchased some with rubber grips which I now prefer .. The 4mm match so I can only assume they are all the right size as the vintage sizing

For bigger sizzers.just use bigger hook ..and the sole is the same as the 1st 1 you made same sole .then sew to bottom

You mentioned that you make a double sole, to make it more sturdy. I have not found any instructions indicating how to make and attached the second sole. Can you please explain what I am missing?

Hello and thank you for the tutorial! I made a petite pair. Do you have a pattern for larger sizes like 2T?

Thank goodness I found your videos. I've been making quite a few things. most of videos I've followed have been by Spanish ladies. I've actually crocheted myself a dress and shorts. My granddaughter Chevron cardigan's, a dress and. Now I will be making you're beautiful converse for my granddaughter. These first pair that I have made are going to hang on my hand bag. I had already decided to make them both at the same time. For my first pair I think I've done okay.
Wanted to show you a picture of them.
My granddaughter feet measure 6 inches at the moment. Do you have a video at all for this size.please. if not how many stitches should I start of with and what size crochet hook please.
