  • Having started at 21 years old, here's my one year progress video of figure skating as an adult! Jumps progress @ 2:43 | Spins progress @ 5:54.
Also my hiatuses/breaks from skating amount to about 5-6 months which is why my videos span across more than a year. Boy have I been itching to get this out, had my 70th lesson yesterday! What an awesome journey this has been so far, thank you for supporting me and keeping me inspired!
Looking forward to posting many more progression videos :)

I'm so inspired by your progress. I have always wanted to figure skate but being in Australia and being 23 I feel like everywhere I go someone is telling me that I missed my opportunity. Nope, you can start at any age and you can get good at any age. I'm gonna do it for me and thank you for showing us how dedication and ambition can breed success whenever you put your mind to it.

Have lost some jumps along the way, but never the passion. This is a lifetime sport that yields excellent cardiovascular benefits & strong bones going into your senior years. @@pbaker2001 Wow! That’s so inspiring, I’m 16 and I started skating about a year ago, I’m going to a skate camp to learn more jumps and spins (I only have a single waltz) but I want to compete in competitions, even maybe big competitions some day, I know it’s probably not possible because of when I started compared to others, but there’s no reason to not try. I’ve always thought that maybe one day I’ll give up on skating, because I’ll lose my love, but just going to the rink gives me something to do, something I’m legitimately proud of myself for. I’ve been an artist and pianist for as long as I can remember, but they just don’t bring me as much joy as they did unless I’m just doing it when I want to and not when other people want me to, and I don’t want that with figure skating, I want to be going to the rink in my 60s like you, that’s so incredible!

My plan is, when I’m around 15 or 16 ( I’m currently 13 ) and I can drive, I’m going to drive myself to an ice rink nearby and try learning it. I can’t right now, since my parents think I don’t need to ice skate, so they won’t let me do it. 😞 But when I’m old enough to make my own decisions, I’m going to actually try learning it. Ice skating just seems so beautiful and elegant. I really want to learn it!
Edit: I’ve been going ice skating for about 2 months now!!! My older brother got his driver’s license and it’s a 30 minute drive to the ice rink, but it’s worth it. I’m picking up my new skates in 2 days too!

try keeping your blade/boot off the ice when your doing a broken leg it will make you spin a lot faster. If it is hard for you to keep your foot off the ice try holding the leg up with your hands just by grabing it then once you get that down then you can start spinning without grabbing your leg

Your spins after 2 months were better than mine are after over a year. :'( But! Anyway! Awesome progress! I definitely could not do this much after just a year haha. But I just can't help but notice that you don't tuck your arms in while jumping, you just kinda let them fly around. Tucking them in like when doing a spin makes you rotate faster and makes the jump look more put together.

This is so motivational. I was scared that I couldn't do it because I'm a late starter (age 21). But this gives me hope that I can also achieve spins and jumps 💕 thank you so much...

I started at the age of 6 then after 2 years I stopped bc I was expected to do good in school and ballet, I'm turning 15 this month and I was so afraid that its too late to start again, you literally just saved me 😭

Hi. I want to share my experience too. I started this year, on February, and I'm 21. I basically passed my Level 1 for ISIA. And unlike you, I'm not practicing every week since I'm a medical student and I'll do it on my holiday. But we'll be pro ones together, one day!
