Such a great tutorial! Thank you so much. I filmed some interviews and due to the background noise I wasn't able to hear the voice of the other person. I tried with different tutorials but I still couldn't understand how to do it until I found your video. Thanks for taking the time in explaining.
Master Editor - thank you for explaining this better and showing different settings. I appreciate it so much - I will try to use these settings in my next episode hoping it will eliminate all the extra time I spend increasing and decreasing the sound levels of the various individual clips. I need to understand that compression setting so much better and your videos have helped so much!! THANK YOU
Fantastic!!. I was struggling for doing this for more than a week , and went through tens of videos on youtube. This is the best explanation. Thank you so much for making this video.
I could hear a difference in the podcast audio when the compression ratio was set to 6:1. I imagined it would be like turning down the ‘presence’, or the ‘clarity’. When I do that in Adobe Lightroom for a photographic image, it looks very unnatural and muddy.
I have applied the EQ, and yet when I'm looking for softer parts, the playback volume is now all the same so I cant really get the value, what do I do?
EQ will not balance out the audio. Compressor will. I have a macro pack that includes a level and improve macro to balance out uneven recording. If you struggle to configure the compressor, you can think to purchase the macro pack.
I have a next door neighbor (apartment) who plays nonstop music when he is home (even at night). I have been told by the manager that the only way she will acknowledge the noise is if I send her a recording. Every time I record, the microphone thinks the music is background noise and reduces it. I have Audacity 3.1.3 (thanks to your advice), but do not know how to use it to enhance the music. I have been using a Tascam DR-05X to record the music. All I see on the Audacity screen is a very thin sound wave, except for areas where the microphone picks up my breathing or the heating unit in the room. What settings should I use to catch the music?
May be there is some settings in Windows which is doing noise reduction. Please disable that settings and set the recorder in direction of the music. Also set the recording volume as loud as possible.

Very helpful!! many thanks!!

I like this but what happened to the noise reduction part and you can tailor this to make it neat and clean.
I mainly focused on how to fix uneven sounds. Of course you can use noise reduction in this processing chain if you have noticeable noise.
Holy Moly! Thank you!!!!

Good information, but the speaker is a robotic (not a real person). That takes something away from the video.
hmm, I understand. I have a channel named Md. Akhtar-uz-Zaman where I post videos with my voice.
thankyou so much

Which OS do you Use? Windows or Mac?

Also have you switch on a Low Cut filter on your Tascam DR-05X? You need to switch off that to capture loud noise
@@MasterEditor5 Just sent a trouble shoot message to Bill Gates. :)
