Just remembered a old saying I heard in the 70's. Regarding the importance of being a complete, all around lifter, and the importance of the Deadlift, weather you like it or not. " The meet ain't over till the bar hits the floor "
I feel I have a responsibility to mention Bill Kazmaier with his 886lb raw deadlift that at the time was the world record. I understand Kaz was 300lbs but I don’t think he ever reached his max potential due to lack of understanding we have today in many different aspects. Training drugs recovery diet etc…. He could have pulled over 1,000 if he would have been born 20 years later. Just my opinion
Bolton, Coan, and Magnusson were all insane deadlifters, especially considering the variables of their time and conditions their lifts were completed under.
