    On hard court
    Pros: Lightweight, fast, can slide well. Good breathable ventilation.
    Cons: the outsole wears out fast, especially if you slide a lot , and the price is high, unless you wait for sales and use coupon codes on top of the sales

    I love it cause it doesn't get in the way of my movement, it has no break in period and I love the colors.

    Ordered the Vapor X in normal true to size, first time I tried it on, it feels snug and tight. Needs some break-in time. The toe area, like many said, is roomy and breathable. It's low to the ground, gives you that 'court feel', useful for quick lateral movements and that sudden burst of foward speed. And it's a good looking shoe, especially those with color blocking of the leather cage and lace loops, creates a nice contrast with the toe area. There aren't too many well-designed tennis shoes out there but this one stands out.

    I started wearing the Nike Breathe Frees and I seem to move fastest with those. Then RF come along and made them lower to fit like a glove.... but true due to lack of cushion I get some backaches, but you do move quicker on the court compare to other shoes.

    I have the nike vapor court shoes, (the slightly cheaper version of the high end ones, but they're still not cheap). I really like the stability that the vapor design gives around the instep, they look awesome and I find them super comfy, the vapor courts seem to be a little heavier than the higher end version. I used to use Asics, but found them a little too stiff and heavy. Now I'm getting older and slower around the court the lighter and slightly more flexy vaor court shoes suit me better 👍🏻

    I switched to this shoe last year. After trying asics kswiss and adidias and head. this shoe just fits my foot incredibly well. Its comfy to me i don't have any hot spots on my foot after a night of play. It just works. Im not brand loyal i just want what feels good and this feels great to me. I think thats the key. Just what works for you.

      Agreed. I was a Asics nut up to the last FF. Tried the Nike X. Loved it from the first try. I like the feel I get from being more connected to the ground. If you know what I mean.

    Nice review! I had to order it 1/2 size bigger than my regular size, comparing to my all of my Adidas shoes. I ordered it, but still have not worn it since the old one still has life on it.

    I am currently wearing a vapor 10. It is relatively fast, corners well, good traction, the shoe is very flexible and molds to the foot. The toe guard has a seam and that seam is separating. I am disappointed by the toe guard seam imperfection. The mid sole gets compressed and the hard arch support in the mid foot area drags on the ground which is a harsh on abrupt stops and vigorous cornering. For the money, the outsole wears out very fast. Do not feel like I am getting my money's worth for performance.

  • @userdjee834
    @userdjee834 4 года назад +2

    These Vapors were always the cheapest made shoes. It is beyond me how people don't get it. Total lack of stability in the midfoot, the whole shoe bends easily. Roger's are custom made, with a carbon plate, they just look like the retail ones. Pure marketing BS. Great video!

  • @notofakejs465
    @notofakejs465 4 года назад +2

    Rogers PE is not the same as what's being sold in public. All his soles have carbon fiber plate in the middle which provides even more stability.

    • @harlanzip
      @harlanzip 4 года назад

      notofakejs that is because he uses the zoom vapor tour VI from 2009 (which has the carbon). That’s why they are $1000 on eBay for that model. His match used shoes

  • @LuchoVena
    @LuchoVena 4 года назад +2

    Roger only uses the upper of this shoe, the rest is custom sole/midsole materials, carbon fiber, different thread pattern, etc. So does Dimitrov.
    I started to notice more and more pros not using actual sold model as in stores. Adidas players included, using the cheaper shoes (takedown) midsole/sole vesions with the high end uppers. Thought that was very interesting.

    I buy shoes with the consideration of value (price AND quality). And I had bought many different Nike shoes from the cheap Court Lite, to Advantage, to Prestiges and then to Vapor X. Nike is one of those brands that really only gives you what you pay for on the scale of its price ranges. None of those cheaper models were any good at all except the Vapor X. The Vapor X isn't the best tennis shoes out there, but it is the best Nike tennis shoes, although it is the priciest of them. However, they have so many color schemes so they always have the unpopular color on sale and that's what I would buy. Too bad Asics shoes are hardly ever on sale, otherwise I will like to play in them instead of the Vapor X.

  • @karlroszko

    I’ve been wearing Vapor Xs for about 18 months now, up to about my 5th pair. What you said in your review is pretty much on the money. The reason I wear them is because they are wide in the front and the mesh fabric gives a bit more room when moving around and breathes better. Like RF said, it’s like a running shoe with a tennis sole. This is true, and it’s low to the ground, fast and connected feeling. BUT.... on hard courts they absolutely destroy my feet, knees and back, not after 50mins but after a couple of hours. I love the shoe for its performance but on hard courts I think I want something more cushioned. Recommendations?

    Make the swoosh white and change orange color to white. Not sure why the shoe manufacturers make such obnoxious designs. Most players end up looking like a commercial.

  • @bowsershark
    @bowsershark 4 года назад

    I like the shoe overall. The biggest dislike is the lack of durability and cushion. I found it difficult to decelerate via heel but slowing down on toes was very good. The huge plastic piece in the sole screws up the performance of the shoe.

    Been wearing zoom vapour (and its predecessor? Too young to remember) for a decade. The only other shoes I tried were a Reebok pair (terrible) and Adidas Barricade.
    With Barricade i felt really solid and grounded, but not as agile.
    With Zoom Vapor I'm able to reach any ball quickly enough, but i can't tell how much it's me and how much it's the shoes anymore. Tbh I can't tell whether they're good shoes or even objectively what makes a pair of tennis shoes good anymore...I'm irrationally more afraid a change might throw my game off more than the potential benefits they might bring at this point...e.g. I've been wanting to try Asics for a few years but I just couldn't justify paying that price just for trial, and they just don't look good enough for causal wear as a backup plan.

    Not for me either, no insole or sock combo stopped the blistering. By end of a set it was like running on fire.
    I migrated to the air zoom zero. Maybe I'm just soft.

  • @bowsershark

    I liked my vapor a great deal. I did change the insole to a beefier one. My only gripe is, it wanted it to last longer. Better durability would be nice. I did not buy it again but like it.

    Burnt through 2 pairs in 3 months. Toes completely disintegrated on both shoes and the soles weren't too far behind. I play at a club where the hardcourts are resurfaced every year so they
    I tend to burn through shoes. Either way, they weren't worth the money given the durability issues.

    Nike hasn’t made a good tennis shoe since the Air Resistance and Zoom Oscillate.
