Welcome back Vacation Crew for another review! It can be a little sketchy to switch over to the latest tennis shoe when you just got your fit perfect from the previous version. After going through 3 pairs of the 9.5’s, we made the jump and put the Nike Air Zoom Vapor X to the test.
We talk about all the changes, review the entire shoe, head out the courts for some hitting, and put them to work.

Bought 5 pairs of the original Barricade V’s in 2009. I’m now on my last pair. I’ve tried on 10 different tennis shoes the last 2 months, and the only 1 that felt wide and comfortable to me was the Zoom Vapor X wide. Yeah I’m about to buy 5 pairs of those Vapors 😁
My 240sx well good thing you boarded the barricades because those were great shoes RIP. I’m sure the 10.5 or 11s are just around the corner, too. Curious how the knit ones are as well. Thanks for letting me know!
Using the vapor x as well.....using it feels like an asics gel resolution 7. More durable the the older version I guess.
That's a good point I use to love the gel res 7s because I always used Asics running shoes, plus the warranty. Haven't been as hot on the looks of the newer resolutions but then again Asics has never been about that life, all about the performance!
Late comment, but do you by any chance know the length of the black laces (in inches) that comes with these shoes?
got the exact same ones 🤣, i also got the knit ones, but the agassi version, don't think they actually work as tennis shoes these days..

I'm gonna give these a go. Thanks for the review and info, my dood. For the String Bar series, ever think about putting same string on 2 or 3 different racquets to compare how the string performs on different frames and maybe different tensions?
I'm on my second pair of these, got the second ones in hardcourt sole, seems to work pretty good on clay too. Thats a great idea, I might need to update my frames cause I'm rocking some old ones!

The Vapor 9, 9.5 and X’s were such great shoes. Nike needs to bring them back in n the older design
now all the new shoes are ugly
Where did you get this shoe because it’s very hard to find a clay specialized shoe
Sadly they don't have this anymore but they usually come out with more clay ones during the clay season. But just search tennis warehouse they definitely have some clay specific shoes

KomenTennis thanks means a lot coming from you! Been hitting for about 8 years and just started to get into decent match play and match strategy in the past year so learning that side of the game. Speaking of shoes these have holes in them probably time to upgrade, spent all my money on strings lol

Can the clay versions work on hard courts too?
Kian Teong Tan yes I’ve done it many times but it’s more grippy feeling than a hardcourt shoe. So not the best for sliding on hardcourt but it can be done
Can wear it when I go to mall ?
Silver_bulletx2x yes, you can and I’ve done it but don’t be expecting comfort - you’ll get plenty of compliments because no one wears these as lifestyle shoes so they don’t know what it is. But they are stiff so be prepared 😊
Worst shoes in tennis.Nike cant make shoes,no support ,narrow uppers,sole wears out quickly. Messed up my feet using these shoes forever.Dont buy
Sorry they didn't work out for you, maybe try Asics they have a different fit and might work better for your foot. I've messed up my feet in several different shoes but just keep searching!
@@EvokeTennisThanks.Yes,i used the asics resolution after the nike vapors and then find the holy grail of tennis shoes.The adidas barricades.I bought 6 or 7 pairs as they worked for me and gives great durability and support.I still have 3 pairs left that i rotate.Adidas discontinued their barricade range of shoes.So i will have to go back to the Asics resolution.
Joe Herbert it’s a shame that they discontinued it I know so many players that loved the barricade. Now look at their offering, it’s pretty bad looking
@@EvokeTennis Jip,their offerings are terrible.I loved the limited editions of the barricades aswell,so creative and fun.Was a great product.The last barricade that came out looked a bit cheap with that big plastic piece on the side,i never had that model,but i heard people complained about the plastic gaurd hurting their feet. There are rumors on the internet that they are working on new barricades. Its such a strange marketing decision from them.It seemes like most adidas users at my club are now changing to asics.

Vacation Tennis that makes sense, I got the tiger stripe ones they seem to be holding up but the toe box has mesh so we’ll see at least it’s black
Whats that for a court? its clay?
Yveltax yes it’s Har-Tru which is a type of clay court, they are everywhere around this area 👍
Are all these only meant for Clay?
There are hard court versions as well. If it's meant for clay it will specifically state it and you'll see the clay herringbone tread pattern. I also use them on hardcourt, but it wears the tread down a lot quicker

@@dayneziegler12 it will specifically say Clay in the title. I only see a couple on tennis express that say clay, so as long as it doesn't I'd consider it a hard court shoe
