Thanks, Kat, for choosing to show my Marcel Boucher brooch that I sold for $1350 last month!!! I watch your research videos all the time and I used Google lens (first learned about it on your video) to find out more about the piece... thanks, so much...
I'm right there with you - thank the heavens above for Google lens/searches. It puts us on the proper path to know what we have and how to describe and price it all. It's amazingly helpful!
@@TheNurseFlipper So glad to hear you weathered the storm. I hope all of your friends & family did also. We know of a couple on my wife’s side who just bought a house on Marco Island. They don’t know until later Saturday if it’s still there. They literally just sold their previous home in NJ this past week 😢
So appreciate you! Thanks for sharing. No doubt you’re my favorite to learn from. Appreciate that you take all the time to learn and know what you’re talking about and not just blah, blah, blah. 😍
The whatnot ads were so annoying I thought it was going to be just a dumb app that only sort of worked or something, but it's good to see a review by an actual reseller
Relieved your all safe!! Darn couldn’t watch your Whatnot show, hopefully I’ll make tomorrow!! Great information, these prices are amazing!!! Thank you Kat!!❤
Jewelry is my favorite item to resell. But I end up loving so many pieces that I’ve amassed quite a collection! Really well done video Kat, as always!!!
This was really eye opening. I need to look through all of the jewelry I’ve thrifted (for personal use) through the years. Could have some hidden treasures and if I do I’ll owe all to you and the work you put into doing these. Thanks so much, Kat ☺️
Always, always learn so much from you - thanks Kat. Your advice to look closely for markings is very true - I had a pin where the markings were on the actual pin and so tiny that I had to photograph them through a loop. BUT they confirmed that part of the pin was 18K gold and that it was a Tiffany's sterling and gold pin. Sold for $100. Worth that close look. So that is excellent advice. I was pleased to learn here that if it's old enough, or valuable enough overall: it's ok that there are stones missing. That's been a big no no in my eyes so far with selling jewelry, and now I'll give more pins a chance. Thanks, again.
Love your channel and videos! Watching almost everyday.I thank you for sharing your knowledges learned so much from you, greatly appreciated!Blessing ❤️
Just getting into selling items online I've always done it at vintage shops or hand ne down shops. I recently noticed brooches are making a come back... so I'm here for it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🙂
I believe the carrot weight is super high, platinum is the most valuable metal to have, and the appraisals come in different forms….market “value”, insurance “value” and replacement “value”. I do not know which value this is…probably replacement value, but this is a key factor in the selling price vs appraised value👍
And that’s if the appraisals are even real. I’m sure somebody could print something off-line and fill it out themselves. I’m pretty sure the appraisal for the brooch on here is not a real appraisal because GIA does not do appraisals.
Thanks for this wonderful and informative video. I love pins and brooches, they reminder me of relatives that I’ve loved and lost. I love wearing them on most occasions. I usually get compliments, I think mostly because they aren’t as fashionable as they used to be, so I hope they become more popular again in the future. They definitely can be your “statement piece” ! Thanks again.😊
The Christmas tree brooch is called a saw tooth bezel set cabochon. Kat another great video. I love the jewelry videos. I can look at all types of jewelry all day long
About 3 wks ago I sold a Boucher broochPearl flower pin . It went to China. My mom a antique jewelry dealer. I am selling her jewelry to pay for her estate expenses. I am listing almost every day .
Thank you so very much for all of the information you generously share with us here. I would like to you offer some assistance with the pronunciation of a French name. Yves is pronounced just like Eve as in Adam and Eve. The s is silent. The t at the end of Laurent is also silent. It’s pronounced Lauren. Again thank you for all the “behind the scenes work” you do. I really enjoy the way you present topics and the items. The show flows so well that I’m surprised to see time is up and it’s over.
I am kind of wondering about that GIA gemologist appraisal on that antique brooch. GIA does not do appraisals period. They tell you what you have and possibly when and where it’s from, but they don’t put a value at all. I tried with a ruby and even their website says they don’t put a value amount even if you pay them. That’s got my curiosity peeking. I didn’t know if anybody else caught that I guess I should’ve read some of the comments first but anyways love your show still binge watching thank you.

I've been trying to gain information and inspiration and excitement from you and several of the other youtube flippers. So I can just be measuring the weight and estimating the size on all the "small' stuff and don't need to find a box ahead of time and measure exactly?! Who knew?? Not me! I definitely need to find a video that crunches through all the rules and costs of shipping. I went into the post office today and the "flat rate" stuff was more expensive than it was when I was there a month ago. I saw this video a while back. I have been collecting all kinds of brooches since I was younger. I don't know the values of them, but lately I went to a library sale and they had a lot of Christmas Tree Brooches, I bought them all. I did leave two there made in China. I also have necklaces with their ear rings, not sure what the value would be. My mother in law from England gave me a black (something with the ear rings back in the 70s wish I knew the value). For the brooch that sold for over 3900 worth 12,000 she should have put a reserve and if it didn't sale, she should have kept it. Oh well thanks for the info, maybe someday I can get someone to tell me what I have of value. PS no Monet?
This was so fun to watch. I got a Trifari brooch/earrings set for a buck at a yard sale which sold for $367! Amazing. But I had a large, rare Les Bernard brooch appraised for $200 and I didn't get 1 bid. So you just never know. Great research video as always. I'm so glad to hear that you and your family are safe from the hurricane!!!! I just got home from staying with my daughter for 3 weeks helping her look up things for her Ebay business. She trys to be very selective in items she buys for resale. She had a good size container of vintage and costume jewelry. That was my job to do. Lol. She had to get me a magnifying glass to look for marks. I have several books but of course I didn't take them. I have always loved old costume jewelry. When I was a young girl my mother sold Emmons jewelry. I was captivated by the colored rhinestones and beautiful designs they made. I also inherited my grandma's costume jewelry. I still have a hard time figuring out the age, the type of stones, the type of metal used and the ketchy names used with jewelry. Like carved scarab stones, closed backing, glass beads, faux pearls, just endless. I would love to see you do a research video on backgrounds of different makers and just how you can tell unsigned pieces. I did find a couple of necklace sets and brooches that we really didn't know how much to list things for and found 1 set sold recently for 95 plus shipping and a beautiful bird pin on 1st Dibs for almost 300 dollars and theirs was miss a mother of pearl flat piece and Sarah's had both pieces of the mother of pearl. Had I not had the same pin in hand I would have thought theirs was perfect. There's so much to learn about jewelry. That's why I love seeing your estate hauls that you find a lot of pieces and all your lots you get, whether it has been clothes, glass, figures, pottery or anything. I've learned so so much from you just since I found your channel earlier this year. Keep up your great work. It means so much to keep up with your videos and even go back on you old ones. Someday I'll be able to join your membership and get your master classes. I've got my children watching you too.
This is painful to watch! I had an antique 14kt Italian Micro Mosiac pill box that my husband grabbed and sold for $1 at an antique market we sell at on occasion. That happened 2 summers ago and it still hurts thinking about it!
Would you ever do commissions? I find people that want to sell jewelry but don't want to sell it at dealer prices. I've been thinking about offering to do some higher end pieces on commission ...your thoughts?
Isn't an appraisal on the monetary value of an object? What if you have no idea what something is worth and sell far below value? I would not put that $12,000 brooch on the reseller platform it was on. That would have gone to a reputable auction house.
Needing help trying to find out if my pale pink travel bag is worth anything. Have looked on there website and can't find anything, what other sites can I look at.
I have a quick question. When these go on auction do the sellers start the bids at a certain price they have determined and the bidding goes up from there? P.s. thanks for teaching me so many things with your videos.

Personally I promote everything but more important is good pictures and titles
Would you ever do commissions? I find people that want to sell jewelry but don't want to sell it at dealer prices. I've been thinking about offering to do some higher end pieces on commission ...your thoughts?
Personally no the paperwork and accounting would be a pain

Yes! It’s best to get an appraisal before shipping the item to have proof of the items value! If you try to do it afterwards it may seem like fraud.
