This video couldn't have been timed better! I bought a taped lidded crystal container at the thrift store today, I could hear there was something inside. Imagine my surprise when I got home and found a Trifari brooch with a blue stone!

I went to a thrift store in Aspen, Colorado and found a Trifari white and gold butterfly pin/brooch but it had one small stone missing. I asked how much for it? and i let the clerk know it had one missing stone, so she said, you can keep that for free. I had already made a pile of a few jewelry items, most of them sterling silver. That Trifari butterfly with “flaw” (stone missing) sold on my EBay store for $100.

G & E (the bib parure) made the Juliana pieces and like Juliana used paper tags. Pietra Dura isn’t a company but denotes the process of inlaying flat stone in designs, used for jewelry, boxes, coasters, etc.

You can tell the construction is from a mold based on the texture in back of the brooch. Great video though . Thank you

So I started looking through all of my jewelry, and I have some pretty brooches that I actually don’t want to part with for sentimental reasons, nothing of very high value, but one thing I noticed on eBay is no one shows pictures of how a woman would wear a brooch nowadays. Back in the day a woman would wear a scarf and pin it to her coat with a brooch or wear a brooch on her coat lapel but how are people currently styling them?

thank you for another great research video-- they are my favorite..I really hate to correct people , and i certaily dont intend this to be taken the wrong way but in the spirit of learning--
Givenchy is pronounced (jhee-VAAN-shee) emphasis is on the 'Vaan'
Haute Couture is pronounced (HOAT co-tur) or even OAT CO-TURR emphasis on the 'haute'
it translates to HIGH FASHION and is the highest form of fashion design. to be a identifieed as a Couture design house there is a tightly controlled, invite-only application, governed by a committee of sorts known as Paris’s Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.
and finally Pietra Dura is not a designer or design company (so pieces would never be marked as such) but is actually just the name for a particular style of mosaic work that uses relatively hard stones (feldspar and diamond usualy)
You can identify a piece as pietra dura easily by the typically black stone background with multicolored inlaid stones - usually in shapes like birds/doves/flowers and leaves. they're gorge and worth a lot!!
hope this doesnt offend you- i love all the hard work you do for these videos
