    Just buy a $10 CCU from the Starfarer Gemini to the Endeavor and hold onto that, no need to buy the ship and melt it.
    Edit- The same goes for all RSI ships that are being worked on buy the CCU from the ship below it and hold onto them this will allow you to check the ship out without locking yourself into a large purchase and when the ship launches and the prices get bumped up you have the price locked in.

    Endeavor baby! Can't wait for that beauty! Big ships make sense to buy with money. When they get blown up, CIG is not going to make you work your ass for another even with insurance. This thing is $350 and I would not be surprised if it reaches $1000 when updated. The modules I would get in-game, the wont cost much. I wonder if the Zeus will fit in the ship bay! Hmm....

    Some notes. The Galaxy, unless they come out with an Exploration module, is not an exploration ship. It's a freighter, a medical ship, or a refining ship at present. The Endeavor is also not an exploration ship. Ben Lesnick stated that the ship is strictly intended to be a science ship that stays in safer areas. It doesn't have weaponry to defend itself or the defenses to withstand damage from stellar events (only the front lander has that...the rest of the ship would be wrecked).

    • @ZyvhurStudios
      @ZyvhurStudios  9 месяцев назад

      I've seen this comment a lot and I respect it but SC is a sandbox game, so I won't generally make recommendations based on technicalities because I want to offer the most perspective in a given role :)

    • @kebasor
      @kebasor 9 месяцев назад

      @@ZyvhurStudios Well, technicalities are what define what a ship can and cannot do. Much as a person might want a Hull-A to be a combat ship, it just isn't one. The capabilities of the ship don't match the requirements of the job, and the ship can't be made into one that does. Right now, neither the Galaxy nor the Endeavor have the capacity to function as exploration vessels any more than a number of other ships, such as the Liberator, Polaris, or Reclaimer can.

    I like this list a lot, with IAE coming up, what about a list of essential ships for a fleet for an average player. I do mine based on careers that are in game.
    Bounty hunting, pirate, merc.
    F7C hornet (any variant)
    Multicrew Bounty Hunting, pirate, merc. Vanguard Harbinger
    Racing, M50.
    Rescue/medical, cutlass red.
    Trade/cargo runner, caterpillar.
    Mining, Roc. (but requires a small ship to be able to transport)
    Salvage, vulture.
    Multipurpose ship, Mercury Star Runner.
    Support, (not really in game yet) Refueling is the only support job in game yet and only has the starfarer.
    So what’s in your essential fleet?

  • @Yurikan

    FYI the most likely ships that are going to be fully functional by the first release is the Origin 600i explorer and the Odyssey. The Galaxy might make it if they get modularity in before 1.0, but the Endeavor and Carrack both use mechanics that they have likely not even started development on outside of just some footnotes in a folder stored away in the backroom.

    • @ZyvhurStudios
      @ZyvhurStudios  9 месяцев назад +2

      CIG said at citizen con they are doing the large RSI ships first because doing similar ships together streamlines development.. and modularity was added with the hull C with its spindles, that's why they teased the retaliator base :)

    • @Yurikan
      @Yurikan 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ZyvhurStudios Right, but fully functional in this case means that all capabilities of the ship will be online. So for the Odyssey we already have mining working and the refining gameplay should be something that gets done relatively soonish. It's basically just a flying hangar with really high range. The 600i explorer just has the exploration sensors that need to come online to really make it fully functional, but even if it were to come out without that fully in place, it wouldn't have anything else that sticks out. I do not trust anything they say about modularity being ready in terms of the galaxy until I see it.

    I think the Endeavor would be the heart of a fleet and one of the other explorers would be used for more active local exploration and support. If you can set up your noncombat fleet to tick all the self sufficiency boxes then you give yourself the ability to actually go full nomad. Pair with a good enough combat fleet and you have a whole operation going on. Equip the right modules and become a Space General Contractor with excessive security. Equip medical modules and you're suddenly Space Doctors Without Borders. Ain't nobody going to mess with an Endeavor with a Polaris for security.

    Galaxy: Is not an explorer. If CIG release an exploration module for it in the future, sure it could probably fill that role. But currently this is not a defined nor equipped role for the Galaxy
    Endeavor: The Endeavor isn't really an exploration ship. Sure it's big enough to fly deep enough in space and if fitted with the telescope it could possibly fill that role in some capacity, but at it's core, the Endeavor is more of a science and research ship. Plus, due to the Endeavor's sheer size, even if fitted with the telescope, the range of exploration open to the Endeavor is going to be considerably more limited compared to even the Carrack. Ship sizes versus jump point size/stability is going to matter in the future. The Endeavor is more of a floating deep space deployable platform/outpost/installation than it is a nimble or versatile explorer. Especially once you consider the modules that have been announced for it thus far. I love the Event Horizon feel of the Endeavor, but I don't see it as an explorer.
    600i Explorer: I have high hopes for the 600i Explorer rework. And while that rework will bring it closer competitively to the Carrack, the 600i still isn't really on that level. It was originally intended to compete with the Aquila and Corsair. And it still shares a lot similarities with that tier with the pilot controlled guns and such. But really the 600i currently sits in a niche in-between those two tiers. If the Galaxy ever gets an Explorer module, or they ever bring a new ship into that tier (my vote goes to Xian explorer), maybe that tier will get more competitive, but currently, the 600i shares more with the Aquila tier and after the rework, will sit closer but still well below the Carrack. BTW, I did the math back when they first announced the cargo bay being able to hold a Nova and using standard SCU size metrics I think we had worked out that that would mean the 600i's cargo capacity would have to increase to "at least" 300-330SCU to fit the Nova. I can't remember the exact number, I've slept since then, but I'm pretty sure that range is accurate.
    Odyssey: Don't get me started on that piece of space trash. Quite frankly that is one ship I think needs to be reconcepted because it's just plain garbage. It does nothing. Has no dedicated exploration equipment at all and it's only "potential" perk is it "theoretically" "maybe" has unlimited range (*provided you can find quantainium wherever you're at). It's nothing more than an oversized Freelancer. Quite frankly, the Polaris with its Capital class radar is better equipped for exploration than the Odyssey is and that's a pure combat ship with CIC capabilities. Maybe if they re-concept it in the future I'll reconsider the Odyssey, but currently to me, that ship feels like a complete waste of time and especially money.

    • @ZyvhurStudios
      @ZyvhurStudios  9 месяцев назад +1

      Ok I love comments like this so I'm going to take my time and breakdown my thoughts. I want to preface this by saying we don't really know what exploration gameplay will be, so right I'm going to avoid the "this is not and explorer" and we can consider the ships on this list as the biggest multi role ships not explorers, my apologies that would have been a more accurate categorization.
      galaxy - the modules kind of speak for themselves imo
      endeavor - jump points are changing so we will have to wait to see how CIG balances the various sizes as we already know the Stanton to pyro JP is supposed to be a medium but xeno threat got a Idris through it.
      600i - yes I agree with everything here :)
      Odyssey - this ship was also a major disappointment for me as well but I think it is a good ship for some situations, it just is not one I would spend real money on. According to CIG you CAN assist in cracking larger rocks buy adding energy into it, you just can't suck up the materials. To me that is still useful because cig is rebalancing rocks for different class ships and multi crew gameplay, some rocks will be next to impossible for a single prospector to crack.
      Thank you for your awesome comment, keep them coming! :)

    I think the 600i is a wonderful ship but I'm not totally convinced about the possibility of being able to manage it solo.
    Will it be possible to manage such a large ship from an engineering point of view?

    • @Yurikan
      @Yurikan 9 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not too worried about the engineering bit, but I'm probably an exception as I based my expectations on big ships based on the concept of what running one would be like, compared to the way things are in the tech demo. The 600i was the largest ship someone could pilot on their own, but it also was a ship that was very hard to navigate due to elevators, and it has some weird problems with the cargo grid.
      Right now my explorer lineup is the new Zeus MK II ES, Origin 600i explorer, and Carrack.

      They give a minimum amount of players for a reason. Only Galaxy and Odyssey have 1 person as minimum as of now. And they both seem to have least modules that will be active at same time. So less engineers and manned turrets at given time means less players needed.

You will be able to put markers on the new map on the points of interest you find during your explorations, and after that you can use that info to go back with a ship that can actually use that resource that you found. There's really no telling when we might see the Endeavor they said as much. It basically has all the game loops and at their end game level. So I don't think they will start the work until all that is in. Also it's very tempting to buy big ships because it looks like better value but first they're gonna be hangar queens because there's nowhere to go (Carrack) then they're gonna be hangar queens because you need too many people. And only in the distant future when we have many star systems and working AI crew are they going to be worth something.

    • @Ychos027
      @Ychos027 9 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, the endeavor is definitely gonna be the last ship developed in game, but if you're interested in one or several of the gameplays it offers and are not "in a hurry" that's definitely a must, I snatched one without modules because the price is stupid low for what it offers, and earning the modules in game to turn it online will be a nice in game goal to have. Meanwhile you can either build it with CCUs (that's how I did it and ended up paying only 220 with the discounted CCUs) and build your CCU chain only partially while trying out the intermediate ships you got in your CCU chain (which would be my recommendation at the moment), or you can complete the chain and use the loaner they give you in the meantime...right now the loaner is pretty meh...I think you get a starfarer and a cutlass red, but they will probably update that as they release more ships related to its gameplays, so the Cutlass Red might be replaced by an apollo and whatnot, so it might actually be worth having its jpg in your hangar just for the loaners
