When could we see exploration in star citizen?

    My hope is that CIG will spawn random POI through out the verse, to keep Exploration fresh for the long term.
    Perhaps there will even be procedurally generated uninhabited, barren, desolate systems to discover and colonize from scratch.

    Great video! I pledged the Odyssey for industrial exploration, and your analysis mirrors what I'm hoping to do. I can see myself exploring asteriod belts and distant places looking for that big payday or prime spot to set up a mining outpost. That's my exploration dream for Star Citizen.

    Exploration is what drew me to the game back in '14 but it feels like we might just be "exploring" the same planets and asteroid fields over and over again and....scaning them?
    Also what's drone gameplay going to be? We're only going to have a handful of systems so we won't be discovering new worlds or anything like that

      So we should give players who name them selfs buthole raider 91 the ability to name locations?!? ......... I don't know man sounds a bit sketchy

    one of the biggest problems I have is that the Stanton system is to clean.
    There should be hundreds of years of planetary and space debris.
    Oh wait it's still in alpha.

    Awesome video as always Zyv. Do you think CIG will lean back toward player based solutions for players exploring the big empty? Solutions like rescue beacons, restoration of personal transport beacons, introduction of towing and fuel beacons?

      I do, but I also hope they make more Ai missions for players starting out in those professions

    My current plan is to use my corsair for exploration. I am aware it's probably not going to happen but I'm also hoping they put in exploration drones and/or comps that the reclaimer can use. Would love to use my reclaimer for exploration. Spend most of my time in it anyway.

    I think Exploration will be able to make money by finding good mining locations, or wreckages to sell to salvagers. also people who are able map wormholes might make some money. but trade and mining (include farming, if that becomes a thing) will likely be the biggest earning careers, and rightly so: the production and distribution of goods. I certainly hope CIG does not try to balance all careers earning potential. Frankly, Fighter Pilot should be one of the lowest earning professions, both because people who will need to hire them will need to do so with a small fraction of their own income, and also because there should be about 100 fighter pilots per industrialist. now a really good fighter pilot should command a really good pay. just like real life. but I don't see how exploration really generates a BIG income. and I think in many cases, an explorer will have to fund his exploration by some other profession, or have wealthy sponsors. I think of it like this: how many professional hikers do you know? they wander around in wilderness areas were few people go, but it is not really lucrative. maybe if they can make an interesting youtube channel...?

      It seem like a lot of people hope CIG adds Proc-gen, but for now exploration seems to be a sub-category of industrial

    Dude, its going to be years lol. The big problem is maybe this year you will have 2 star systems.
    Now, what that means is if they put in exploration its going to be dumb. Because they will just have beacons or something to scan and thats it.
    I think at some point they are going to have to use procedural generation for systems and go and handcraft P.O.Is .
    Long story short, 2 systems just doesnt leave any room for exploration.

      yes proc-gen seems like it makes the most sense and I hope they can come up with a good system for it
