I've heard the argument against paints since day one, "I don't want a pink retaliator/eclipse/sabre/whatever ruining my immersion, it's a military stealth submarine etc etc". I had one of those white-and-gold IAE paintjob eclipses with an aggressive stealth build absolutely harassing a ninetails lockdown a while back- didn't even have shields installed as far as I could tell, stripped clean to boost signature and gain extra maneuverability. I could see him clear as day through the whole fight, but at ~1.5km I'd lose targeting and had to keep a sharp eye out more for his engine trails and bullets than the ship itself, til I got closer enough again to lock and get some potshots in. Guy constantly ducked and weaved, used chaff well, and slowly but surely took out a fistful of players before vanishing on his own terms to restock and come back Stealth is in your emissions (and the bonus % reduction from a ship being labeled stealth). Visual confirmation is important, but at the scale we play, you're going to be watching for engine contrails (and flares as more ships gain them with gold passes), and be completely unable to prepare for much other than "somebody's approaching" til you can get that lock Paintjobs are well worth it for the player to feel like a badass as they walk into the hangar like you did. That satisfaction is so much greater than the vague knowledge you might be just slightly harder for a player, who is already on extremely high alert, to identify and mock your lack of optimal livery from 30 km away
To be fair, the paint jobs so far all look really awesome on the ships. The artists did a fantastic job with them. Even the yellow pait on the Retaliator looks awesome. I can understand, though, why some people would recoil at some paints because you look at games like CoD or Fortnite or CSGO or even Battlefield now, and they have the most ridiculous looking leopard print purple and orange camo skins that look awful and absolutely are immersion breaking. So long as the paint options are reasonable I think people will be fine with it.
If you were playing stright up military yea the paint jobs would be stupid. But as we play civilians in the game it means the ships are ours not the govs and people already paint their shit dumb colors anyways so i could completely see random people paining their ships a lot of odd colors and such.
To be pedantic. The retaliators that are equipped with skins are player owned and therefore civilian owned. Like if some navies decided to sell their outdated military stealth submarines to wealthy civilians. I'd wager big money that if they did that IRL then some rich youtuber would buy one, call it "Stealthy McPinkface" and paint it neon pink. So the skins we have in game are pretty tame compared to what people would do IRL.
I love the modularity (and really hope it gets added to the C1/A1). But, I feel the devs should slow down on ships and speed up on the other in game systems and game stability
There are entire teams which are only working on ships. Once they finish a ship, they take on the next one. And besides that they have to rework older ships all the time to keep them playable once new mechanics come online. Also lets face it, ships do bring in the money for CIG. I just whish they would finally rework the starter ships, because those are by far the most common player owned ships. Especially the Aurora feels super outdated and and is not fun to play with. The MFDs are unreadable, the cockpit visibility is really bad and i the animations are glitchy and clunky.

If the ones on the ship teams stop working on ships, that will not help any other part of the game get better faster. CIG would literally just be paying people to sit on their hands and do nothing. This is is true... but one thing to note is they pick ships to work on based on other game mechanics and features that need to be implemented from their roadmap... for example, the retaliator was reworked so that modularity could be added to the game. They won't go back and add modularity to all other ships that promise modularity now just because they can, they'll get to them in time... unless some other unique feature is on the roadmap. They needed to add cargo missions; therefore they needed the big cargo ships. The big cargo ships needed cargo spindles. Cargo spindles needed modularity. Modularity needed a new way for ship parts to talk to each other. The rabbit hole runs deep.
"Gold" is a terme often used in videogame industry, it means that the game is "ready to ship" (when a game was gold it was ready to be sent to factories for the physical editions) even if it needed some Day 1 fixes (that's why we need to download patches on day 1, because since it passes 1-2 months in factories, developer continue to work on it) So "Gold standard" in this case may mean "ready to be shipped even if it needs fixes" ;)
Gold image comes from software publishing... where software was released to a gold CD when it was deemed ready for the release version. Writables for mastering were gold in color, hence the name. And since updating software meant printing new CD's and mailing them out to everyone, this gold image was meant to be a flawless version with every feature working as intended. The gold standard used in the context of updating a ship model more likely represents the achievements of gold medalists in the Olympics as a measurement of accomplishment, not necessarily perfection. Reaching the gold standard simply marks the accomplishment of reaching parity with others of similar gold status. So, congrats Retaliator, you're tied for first?
Great assault ship if you have the people. I like the idea of using the cargo module up front to fill with pulse bikes and the size 9’s in the back. So a pulse swarm carrier with big Torps and lots of turrets. No need for dropship module now. With the Pulse bikes aboard soldiers now have shields and a vehicle and can be deployed from the air. I was so impressed with the looks that I picked one up. Then realized I play solo so I ended up melting it 😅. o7🚀
Love to see how you have grown as a content creator without losing yourself to the fame. You are still one of the best POV for a consumer level opinion of the game.
I do believe that it used to be advertised as a Stealth (Torpedo) Bomber. It does have a lower radar signal than other ships its size. I have had a Tally for a long time now buying the base model of it. I used it quite a bit for any type of "big ship" combat (especially Xenothreat). I couldn't wait for the modules and bought the two cargo modules right away but when they came out I had come to the realization that I really couldn't do anything with it now. With no pilot-controlled weapons, I would have either fully crewed the ship for such a small amount of cargo or bite the bullet and buy $75 to another $125 worth of torpedo modules (on top of the $60 spent on cargo modules). So with an extremely heavy sigh, I melted the cargo modules and a racing Pulse (I kept the fighting one) and CCU'ed my beloved Tally for an Ironclad that I got for $185. ... Oh, I think you were too close with the torpedo. I know there is a minimum distance for those big mamajamas.
AFAIK the plan is to treat modules like ship sales. They'll get added to in-game stores for aUEC at a later date. Used to be 90 days after release, but then look at how long it took the Vulture for example. 5:44 30k recovery removed your hangar entitlement. Your ship got impounded and your character got yeeted across the city. It takes a few minutes for your character to load into the city. It's a known issue lol
I bought the game just for the retaliator. I also broke down and bought the torp modules since my ship is the base model debating the the other modules

I really dig my Retaliator even though I've only been flying it solo. Hoping there will be a medical module at some point, it was mentioned by CIG in some blog post.
For now we have medical torpedoes. They immediately refill your hunger, thirst, heals all bones and moves like an inchworm of doom. Try it out and see if the other person isn't healed afterword. Or...just a thought..try riding your pulse bike right next to it for a front row seat to the divine healing power it shall impart.

I wonder with the personal hangars if the spaceport elevators will take us to them or maybe different levels where we walk into a corridor and have a door to our hangar? The hovering vehicles, like the Pulse, could use a motorcycle style kickstand as landing gear to help with locking down to the cargo grid. The torpedo is not meant to lock onto a ship that small. If NPCs are flying Saber Ravens then maybe getting one to soft-death will allow players to capture one and repair it to add their own fleet.
I have a nother thing I was thinking of. How will the QT dampener in Cuttlas Blue or RSI Mantis work? Those to ships can not activate the dampener without being in SCM = super slow, and the ships that will try to QT will be in NAV mode = fast. So.. The dampener will damp the QT in all ships that are stationary in nav mode close to one of those two ships..

The breathing/oxygen thing is a bug. Helmet on and you start suffocating and losing oxygen. The fix is to remove helmet and put it back on. That fixes the oxygen leak and restores your oxygen back to normal levels.... until it comes back... And you gotta repeat the fix.
I was happy my fine retaliator finally got it's gold pass and modules so it can do fun things instead of just being a torpedo delivery boy But i really don't like what they did with the cockpit, they took away more than half of the displays ....i liked my displays...

Are you playing in the PTU? There was a temporary patch with massivly reduced missle and torpedo speeds. CIG needed to test this for some reason but it will get turned up again soon.

The modules give the Retaliator gunship base options. The six shields and armor along with its five dual Size 3 turrets make it both durable and have formidable firepower at the start. Then, mix in the cargo, torpedoes, living module, or dropship module as desired or needed. A small amount of cargo let's it be a blockade runner in dangerous systems, possibly getting medicine through to rebels on a planet, for example. Or carry weapons & equipment to support the 12-man team you are dropping off. Etc, etc.

It is the same issue with the term "polishing". They are holding back features because those need a little bit more polishing (which is fine) but when the features or location finally makes it into the game, it is stillt barely playable. When i think about polishment, i think animation transitioning, tweaking some stats, optimizing performance and fixing some edgecases to make everything perfect. When CIG says "polished" they mean it is somewhat working without crashing your game constantly.
great ship but if you bought the retialitor bomber for the 275$ you now lost the ccu value of the ship which is now 175$. not to be confused with the melt value. all because cig found a way to take away the earned ccu value of a chain by simply renaming the ship. now you get keep useless modules when you upgrade out of the ship ohh the value.

They'll then offer more concept ships and never deliver them because that is what their ENTIRE revenue model is based on. It's publicly listed right on their main CIG website for everyone to see. The most ironic part of this video, is that The Retaliator was presented back in 2015, and the original post is still on the RSI website for everyone to see. It's sad reading all the comments from people 9 years ago who paid who knows how many thousands of dollars literally dreaming of this pixellated ship, and now have been extremely let down. Modularity would be a lot cooler if they weren’t treating it like another vile cash grab. If you have a retaliator purchased in game currently it’s a dead ship with no purpose. If you bought one in the cash shop you were fine. Ones in the cash shop were automatically updated to contain the torpedo bays. Ones in game were stripped of their torpedo bays with no way to buy the new modules in game and are only available in the cash shop. So effectively you’re being charged to play a ship you’ve already earned or you don’t get to play with it now 🤷♂️ Will be back in a few patches. Anti-consumer practices.

The modules give the Retaliator gunship base options. The six shields and armor along with its five dual Size 3 turrets make it both durable and have formidable firepower at the start. Then, mix in the cargo, torpedoes, living module, or dropship module as desired or needed.
A small amount of cargo let's it be a blockade runner in dangerous systems, possibly getting medicine through to rebels on a planet, for example. Or carry weapons & equipment to support the 12-man team you are dropping off. Etc, etc.

@@MGTB It's all paid bots. Just search it up. There's like 100 guys sitting somewhere in India with 50-100 cell phones on a desk in front of each one. Basically every major youtuber's views are massively inflated by fake numbers, but especially the ones that tie in with marketing, and in this case, financial scams.
In all honesty, many people will think it sounds crazy, but we should've all smashed our computers and phones a long time ago. We created this mess by being complacent. That may sound over the top, but it's just the plain 'ol truth.

It is the same issue with the term
"polishing". They are holding back features because those need a little bit more polishing (which is fine) but when the features or location finally makes it into the game, it is stillt barely playable. When i think about polishment, i think animation transitioning, tweaking some stats, optimizing performance and fixing some edgecases to make everything perfect. When CIG says "polished" they mean it is somewhat working without crashing your game constantly.
great ship but if you bought the retialitor bomber for the 275$ you now lost the ccu value of the ship which is now 175$. not to be confused with the melt value. all because cig found a way to take away the earned ccu value of a chain by simply renaming the ship. now you get keep useless modules when you upgrade out of the ship ohh the value.

The Aegis Avenger Titan is a great all rounder - Good for early combat, box missions, small amount of cargo, can get small vehicles in etc.

I've been playing Star Citizen for years (Since Patch 3.14) and I promise you will be so frustrated and you will eventually demand a refund, but they will never give it. They'll then offer more concept ships and never deliver them because that is what their ENTIRE revenue model is based on. It's publicly listed right on their main CIG website for everyone to see. The most ironic part of this video, is that The Retaliator was presented back in 2015, and the original post is still on the RSI website for everyone to see. It's sad reading all the comments from people 9 years ago who paid who knows how many thousands of dollars literally dreaming of this pixellated ship, and now have been extremely let down.
Atleast they gave the original backers the choice to have the torpedo version, but if you buy the base version now its literally useless unless you have a crew of gunners, which is doable, but the turrets are also weak and the ship maneuvers like a bus. Then you can spend extra money to get the cargo version!! haha The game's nickname is Scam Citizen for a reason, and it has earned it, even from it's longest and most loyal fan base.

Modularity would be a lot cooler if they weren’t treating it like another vile cash grab.
If you have a retaliator purchased in game currently it’s a dead ship with no purpose.
If you bought one in the cash shop you were fine.
Ones in the cash shop were automatically updated to contain the torpedo bays.
Ones in game were stripped of their torpedo bays with no way to buy the new modules in game and are only available in the cash shop.
So effectively you’re being charged to play a ship you’ve already earned or you don’t get to play with it now 🤷♂️

Honestly, We need to stop commenting on this guy's videos and helping the algorithm. I can see clearly that this channel is propped up by paid bots, and it's honestly quite obvious across almost every single Star Citizen youtuber's channel that is popular.
