Thank you so much! I just tried the rice recipe using your ratio of 1cup to 1-1/4 to1/2 cup of water on 2 min. slow release using my new instant pot duo ultimate lid, it turned out perfect! also, has anyone have any idea of where to get a cook book/videos on the new Instant Pot Duo Ultimate Lid pressure cooker? I know I could probably just follow the the recipes for the old Instant Pot Duo air,fryer,crisper/pressure cooker, but thought it would be nice to have something for the new Ultimate Lid. Thank you
Like your channel - it’s the main source for my newly acquired Instant Pot Duo. Thank you. Basmati rice needs to be rinsed at least 3 times, before cooking.
Thank you for explaining the Rice button. I just got an Instant Pot at Goodwill and was a little confused. My previous pressure cooker had a Rice button that you could press multiple times to adjust the cooking time (5-8-10 minutes); I thought the Instant Pot might not be working properly since its Rice button wasn’t adjusting the time. I feel better now. lol
Omg you have no idea how many rices I have totally ruined! I love black Italy rice or brown rice and I always over do it with water or not cook it long enough. I really like your blog, I just came across the “26 instant pot dos and don’ts” and now I just kept going with more of your videos. Good job 😊
Thanks a lot for this video! I had bookmarked all your rice recipes for the Instant Pot. I always refer to them for cooking times, etc. I wish you would add these info in the description.
Love your videos! My wife and I like Ben's Long Grain & Wild Rice and Zataran's type rice mixes, do you have any suggestions on cooking those in the instant pot?
Hi Lisa I just got your cook book and just made your easy teriyaki thighs and rice recipe and had some trouble and was wondering if you could make please make a video on how to make it. I would really appreciate it :-) ❤️
Hi thank you ! You are great. I was hoping if you would help me with Forbidden Rice. I’ve tried your 1:1/ 1/4 ratio, I’ve tried sauté with some onions then pressure cooking but I can’t accomplish it. I keep adding more minutes and it is still a little too grainy for my family. Could you please help?
Even when the package doesn’t say to rinse, I find that if I do it anyway it turns out better. Would sushi rice be the same timing as the regular white rice?
I do a 1:1 ratio rice and water for 5 mins HP, but lately I noticed it still had the tiniest uncooked bite to it. If you do more than one cup, is it still 1.25 cups water per each cup of rice?
I'd like to know how to cook rice mixes, specifically Goya's rice and beans in the IP. I contacted the company and they said use the rice preset, but that just burned it. I couldn't find any answers when I searched online. I just got a lot of rice and beans recipes.
Use an index card or 3"x5" sticky note. List, in columns, Type, Rice/Water Ratio, and Time. Add a note at the bottom " 10 minute natural release for all types. Now you have your own timetable.
I always rinse rice until the water is clear. Rice contains arsenic that is pulled from the soil it is grown in and that is something I don't want to ingest. I certainly don't want my family to ingest arsenic either Basmati rice absorbs less arsenic than Jasmin or long-grain white rice. Brown rice and wild rice contain the most arsenic because the hull of the rice is not removed. In the US rice grown in California has less arsenic but rice grown in Louisiana and Texas has the most. Rice grown in Vietnam and India has much less arsenic.
I didn’t rinse parboiled rice when my dad came to stay with me and he was totally grossed out. I now always rinse all my rice regardless of what type it is.
I tried brown basmati rice..I cooked for 3 minutes with 11/4 cup water. After 15 minutes I removed lid .. Results were rice that was dry and tasted like it was not cooked long enough ???? What did I do wrong ????
I bought this instant pot and also bought the glass lid. I cooked rice using the glass lid and and use the rice button. I burned the bottom of the rice 😳 😳 Does this mean I cannot use the glass lid when cooking rice?
I noticed in one of your earlier rice videos you came under for in the comments for not rinsing your rice which was completely unfair. Generally, rice sold here in the United States does NOT need to be washed. In fact some rice specifically has instructions not to rinse due to the rice being fortified to restore nutrients by essentially dusting the rice kernels with a powder that rinsing will remove. I say generally because it depends on what type of rice and how the rice is packaged. For instance, rice that is sold in large quantities in burlap bags is exposed to air and possibly tiny insects. That rice should be rinsed and that type of rice storage method is a reason that it tends to be rinsed in households around the world where they purchase large quantities of rice and store it for lengthy periods. In that particular case and in those areas of the world the rice is literally dirty and requires cleaning. There is a great video on RUclips about this topic by Adam Ragusea called "Is washing rice really still necessary?" He actually has commentary by a Professor of Carbohydrate Chemistry Ya-Jane Wang who explains that it's largely unnecessary but it tends to be a personal choice or habit not a hygienic one. I won't spoil his video but people shouldn't feel bad about not rinsing.
That is supposed to happen when you're cooking a pot of rice. Instructions and recipes are just guidelines that every cook should tweak to find what works best for their cooking style and their equipment.
I can’t believe that people get out the instant pot to cook something as simple as rice! I wash a cup of rice and place in saucepan with 2 cups of hot water from the tap plus a pinch of salt. I bring this to the boil on high heat then turn the gas down to low and cook for ten minutes without stirring or lifting a tight fitting lid. . Fluff with fork and serve.
Thank you for the help. Was having trouble but you were direct and straightforward. Blessings to you and yours
Thank you so much! I just tried
the rice recipe using your ratio of 1cup to 1-1/4 to1/2 cup of water on 2 min. slow release using my new instant pot duo ultimate lid, it turned out perfect! also, has anyone have any idea of where to get a cook book/videos on the new Instant Pot Duo Ultimate Lid pressure cooker? I was using the regular rice setting.
It wasn't turning out quite right, so I tried it your way I did rinse first.
It turned out great!....Thanks
I just got my Instant Pot Crisper today. I followed your directions, and my brown rice came out perfect!!! Thank you!
Like your channel - it’s the main source for my newly acquired Instant Pot Duo. Thank you. Basmati rice needs to be rinsed at least 3 times, before cooking.
Sending so much appreciation for helping me experiment and learn how to understand how to cook with my instant pot!
9.05a new zealand. Thanks, I have learnt a lot how to use instant pot from you. 😊

Love your recipes you ha explained it well thanks
Perfect just got my 3 quart, and all the rices are my favorite. You have made my oozing life so much easier, keep the videos coming! ! Thank you!!
Thank you for excellent recipe! Perfect rice!

Ty for the tips on cooking rice
Thanks a lot for this video! I had bookmarked all your rice recipes for the Instant Pot. I always refer to them for cooking times, etc. I wish you would add these info in the description.
Thanks! This is very helpful. You do such a great job explaining all the steps.
Thank you for sharing your video. Informative & straight to the point!
I always rinse my rice, regardless the variety and if I’m using brown rice I also soak them for at least a couple of hours (ideally overnight)
I would really appreciate it :-) ❤️
Thank you for this. I needed this bid so much!
I got your "Cooking For One" cookbook two days ago. I can't wait to try all of the recipes, they look so good!
Is the book good? Thanks
@@W諭 excellent
Thank you for your help ❤
I always rinse my rice. You’re welcome! ☺️
Thank you!!!

Does the slow cow cook function on instant pot work well or do you have a video
Even when the package doesn’t say to rinse, I find that if I do it anyway it turns out better. Would sushi rice be the same timing as the regular white rice?
I do a 1:1 ratio rice and water for 5 mins HP, but lately I noticed it still had the tiniest uncooked bite to it. If you do more than one cup, is it still 1.25 cups water per each cup of rice?
I often use chicken broth for liquid, particularly in hearty dishes with wild rice.
What if I want to double the rice. Use the same time? Thx!
Yes, the same time works
I’m buying the book! Really like you’re videos. I live 11 ft. above sea level, should I add or decrease times? Thanks
I really like your videos. That measuring cup is so cute, where did you get it?
Do you have instructions for malinbg trio rice in Instant pot please? (Brown, red and black glutinous rice - readymade mixture bought in a packet)
I'd like to know how to cook rice mixes, specifically Goya's rice and beans in the IP. I contacted the company and they said use the rice preset, but that just burned it. I couldn't find any answers when I searched online. I just got a lot of rice and beans recipes.
Do you have video for packaged yellow rice?
If you duplicate or triplicate the ingredients, the time shut be duplicate or triplicate as well?
time stays the same, because it's a pressure cooker, cooking everything at the same time, unlike an oven, which cooks food from the outside in.
I want to take Basmati rice to our potluck supper. Is the ratio of rice to water the same? The 2-3 minutes, with a natural release?
Can you double the rice with water and cook the same time?
Yes
awesome
i do my jasmine rice for 4 minutes plus 10 natural release. not 2 minutes. turns out perfect but maybe because i use a 3 quart instant pot?
@ Nonya great info I have the 3 qt insta pot as well
I appreciate your explanation! BUT what are the yields? 1cup of uncooked rice yields how much cooked!?!
With your recommendations rice always turns out perfectly! Would love a printable rice type/time table :)
Use an index card or 3"x5" sticky note. List, in columns, Type, Rice/Water Ratio, and Time. Add a note at the bottom " 10 minute natural release for all types.
Now you have your own timetable.
@@rosaliemoon5905 wow never thought of that. It would look much neater in a typed/formatted table
Do u put the rice in during the preheat?
I’m confused about the “sealing” vs. “venting” knob. My instant pot doesn’t look like yours and doesn’t have those options that I can see?
Can you cook rice with hard boiled eggs while steaming vegetables at the same time?
I rinse my rice at least three time because that is how I was taught to make rice by Mama Wong.
what is natural pressure release, just live the instant there for 10 min ? o tap on cancel and then wait for 10 min ? 🤔
I always rinse rice until the water is clear. Rice contains arsenic that is pulled from the soil it is grown in and that is something I don't want to ingest. I wish I could find a video like this, but with stovetop directions for each type of rice
For every 1 cup rice 🍚, do I add 1 /4 cup water? Just curious if I use 3 cups rice
1 and 1/4 cup water. Watch my video I did today! :)
With white rice it's a 2 water 1 rice ratio you can cook it in 4 minutes
If I double the amount of Wild Rice do I double the amount of water also? 2 Cups of Wild Rice = 3 Cups of water?
Does the amount of rice and water change if you have an 8 quart? I ruined rice yesterday 😔. Oh and I am brand new to intent pots!
The 8 quart is bigger, so I'd recommend 1.5x the recipe. Time stays the same!
Always and soak for at least 20 minutes specially basmati rice
Always rinse or will be sticky
I use brown basmati almost exclusively and rinse it.
I didn’t rinse parboiled rice when my dad came to stay with me and he was totally grossed out. I now always rinse all my rice regardless of what type it is.
What if I need more rice than a cup? Should I just double the time? Please help me
The ratio for white should be 2 of water 1 of rice for 4 minutes. If u want to cook more rice for example 3 cups of rice u double the water to 6 cups.
How much water would u use for 3 cups of rice
It would be double of water 6 cups
What about something like Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice Original?
I tried brown basmati rice..I cooked for 3 minutes with 11/4 cup water. After 15 minutes I removed lid .. Results were rice that was dry and tasted like it was not cooked long enough ???? What did I do wrong ????
I always rinse my rice and even let it sit on water so it widens.
I bought this instant pot and also bought the glass lid. I cooked rice using the glass lid and and use the rice button. I burned the bottom of the rice 😳 😳 Does this mean I cannot use the glass lid when cooking rice?
When you say Lisa Childs... I think of Julia Childs from back in the day.
I noticed in one of your earlier rice videos you came under for in the comments for not rinsing your rice which was completely unfair.

I thought wild rice was a seed. Is that the same as a grain?
Wild rice is a grass.
Wild rice is the edible seeds of aquatic grass, that grows in wild marshy areas of fresh water lakes and rivers.
What about brown basmati???????????
Always rinse rice. Same with sorghum, lentils etc.
Can't understand what you are saying at 00:43. "This time I **** rinse my rice before cooking." Had or didn't?
When ever I cook I’m sad! Lol
Rice was the first thing I made in my Duo mini… it stuck to the pot and burned. WTF?
yes i wash my rice
it would be nice if pressure cooker had a buzzard after resting 10 minutes
Tiny bit of bite…what does that mean? Tiny bit of crunch?
Always rinse
I tried cooking rice…so basic!…in my new InstaPot and I need a close up of the buttons used. New to me and kinda duh…sorry!
My poor children, it's so bad I have a rule
Waste of money I say you can follow the instructions the water always drys up even tho I put right amount of water in cooking gammon .useless
That is supposed to happen when you're cooking a pot of rice. Instructions and recipes are just guidelines that every cook should tweak to find what works best for their cooking style and their equipment.

Building pressure takes WAY longer than rice on stove or a ricecooker! Insta? NOT EVEN CLOSE!!
If you're in that big of a hurry stick with microwaveable instant rice.
