    been using similar technique for several years on a lot of V8 s-10 conversions and such. what I do different is use fishing line instead of the coat hanger, I use a push-on lock washer on the bolt before adding the motor mount. so the bolts stay in place regardless of the motor mounts. With the lock washer on the underside and the push-on lock washer sandwiched between the frame and motor mount you wont need a lock washer on the top. I DO like your zip-tie method though, Ive been holding it with needle nose pliers until i get the push-on lock washer started.

      I like the idea of the push lock to hold it, if your talking about those real thin metal ones like they use in late model bumpers. Either way, sure beats drilling holes, dropping control arms, and losing sockets! Thanks for the feedback!

    Another method is to spot-weld a hanger or brazing rod to the tip of the bolt and insert the hanger/rod from the back side. Slip the nut down the hanger/rod , once threaded onto the bolt nip the hanger/rod off. Easy Peasy.

      I suffered through putting the nuts on the inside of the frame when I realized I had installed the motor mounts with the tabs up on the outside instead of the inside. Original install was an hour or more with 15 trips to the toolbox for extensions. Your way took me 15 minutes and I was able to do it sitting.

    I wish I'd have watched this video the first time I did this! It was a frustrating two person job last time I did it. This looks like it should simplify things!

    Everybody else is like "Just drill a hole in the side of the frame" but I don't want to do that, and this is genius.

    Where can i find some strong bolta for those mounts and also i need the long one that goes through the mount and clamshell

    • @shumanatorsgarage8921
      @shumanatorsgarage8921  2 года назад +1

      I got grade 8 bolts from the hardware store, had to go to a couple stores to get them all. The long bolts I think you can get from the autoparts store in the help area by Dorman or online

      Yes. The polyurethane had to be ground down to fit the clamshell in our situation for some reason.
