NICE EXPLANATORY VIDEO! Thanks Maldo! By the way, next time you want to drill such hard steel rivets or anything, use some "cut & drill lube" a little "bench drill stand" and drill slowly, you'll save a lot of drill bits, and in the end it goes way faster.
I did the same thing when I owned a F-Body. Wish I had RUclips back in the late 90s gosh I'm old. Thanks for the informative video good sir brings back memories.
i own the same year z28, i use it as my daily and sometimes drift it, recently just lost a tooth in my rear end and doing a a whole rear rebuild on it. these videos really helped out a lot, appreciate it much and maybe i’ll be making some content as there needs to be more f bodies seen again!
@@maldo72 I’m wondering if you can do the torque arm bushing replacement with the car on ramps I use ramps on front and back wheels to get car raised . Can the weight of car be on wheels?

you forgot to tighten the two top bolts in the tranny mount. it's weird seeing this now, I changed mine about 27 years ago. 89 Formula. the only other things I did was box the trailing arms and went with slightly softer rear springs. man, that thing would hook.
Hi i had zero vibration problems.. if you notice in the video the way installed it not to move transmission around to much and tighten everything evenly also making sure the drive-train is and not cocked to one side or anther ... also with reinstalling the torque arm i use the jack on the rear pumpkin to line up the torque arm bolts so they drop in which insures the axle is straight its hard to explain ..
@@maldo72 awesome, thanks for the info and the videos . I just picked up a 94 z28 6-speed 60,000 miles but feels like all the bushings could be replaced .
struggling with the torque arm reinstall. front bracket was never removed and with some grease i was able to slide the torque arm back in, but bolting the back is near impossible. the bottom holes line up but the top don’t, etc. i’ve tried raising the rear to different levels and no luck. how high does it need to be??
you have to put the jack in the middle of the axle housing to get the torque arm to slide in correctly to drop the bolts back in .. (when you remove he torque arm the front of the differential droops down putting the jack under the front part of the housing straightens it out so you can get the torque arm to line with bolts )
Great video. This gen Camaro used to be what I raced against in the 90s because I always had a foxbody. Now I have one and am enjoying it. From what I've seen the Lt1 with the Lt4 kit or 383 format will make good power.
was looking to change out the crossmember and the trans mount on my 01 camaro, any idea if the crossmember is worth it? durability or weight difference?
Thank you so much for this vid. I'm getting ready to do the same with my 97 bc anytime I break traction I get a violent pop right under me. I grabbed the torque arm by the bushing and can literally move it slightly with just my human strength lol. So I can only imagine what it does when spinning tires. And the tranny mount looks really worn as well. Im doing this as soon as I get my next paycheck. Also getting the headers and y pipe as well.
Hey buddy the part number I got for the tranny mount is 3.1142 instead of 3.1108. Is that bad? They look exactly the same. Only difference is the knubs on the bottom of yours come up a little farther. But I don't think that'll matter. It said it was made for my 97 z28.
@@maldo72 what do you mean center the trans and driveshaft? Like with the Jack's? I've never replaced these before so I'm just going to do exactly how you did in the video
@@bigsutton what I mean the tranny and driveshaft should sit in line with each other sometime with aftermarket mounts there are slots that allow a slight amount of adjustment very easy to spot just look at the yoke that goes into trans vs were the u- joints it(should be straight
Oh I see. Yeah it's straight. However I do notice a little rougher ride. I think that just has to do with the way harder materiel the poly is than the rubber.
Those poly engine mounts are a bitchhh in f body. I did mine when it was a bare short block which helped a lot but was a pain to get them lined up. Then guess what i did?! I put the bolts back in facing the wrong way so if i need to remove the bolt im gonna have to either remove headers or cut the bolt out as i hammer in a new one from the other side 😂😂. They hit my Kooks headers hahaha. Oh well. How close is your y pipe to your torque arm? I have umi relocation bracket with stock tq.arm, poly-engine,trans,tq arm and my catback is literally like 3mm from touching. Haven't gotten car running yet though.
As per request no music and not alot of talking lol lol ....

One of the best mods on these beasts the stock ones just don't last👍🏼 definitely a bang for your buck f-body part!

yes this is a great upgrade the factory should have done that from the start
Nice video sir. When you drilled out the rivets, did you have to attach the new piece to the bracket somehow?
thx for watching. The new bushing is one piece and gets sandwiched in the old bracket locking it into place.
What's up man! I'm working my way through the bushings on my TA and your video popped up.
lol wow long time ... you bought a 4th gen
97 firebird v6
On the panhard bar mine has a wheel with bolt close to rear end n one other bolt as well do i have to take those off too ??
Great video
i think so would have to see a picture .. you can email me at maldo72motorsprots@yahoo.com

the stock cross-member is plenty strong no need to change it out .. upgrading to a poly mount does wonders and also make the car feel more connected
Does the transmission mount have the same part number when upgrading an automatic f-body?, also Thanks for more great info!!
thank you for watching and Yes both use the same part number
