I would definitely watch it. So much great music. You should listen to Tinariwen and Fatoumata Diawara as well. They' re from Mali as this lady is. If you' ve missed the Griot families in Gambia, you should check out the kora music too. SA had Lucky Dube, may he live in eternal peace. He was the greatest.

Introducing Africa to the world. This, is music. This is Africa at her finest. When Rokia sings Africa Unite, I drop tears imagining what Bob Marley would think if he heard this, and also how much Africa has been through over the long painful decades. So much love ❤️
You moved your family to Mali... I hope that was for a job brother and I'm guessing you didn't move to the North of the Country. Alot more stable countries to pick from in Africa.
Man I envy you. I've been dreaming of making a move like that for years, but I can't figure out how to make it happen. I was thinking about Ghana but Mali sounds good too.
When Rokia sings "Africa Unite" she brings about the unification of all African People. Though this song is from our Jamaican Bob Marley, Rokia being from the Mother Continent and singing in her African dialect, solidifies the significance of it's meaning. She relates to it obviously. So much so, that she sings about it. My favorite performance. Her beautiful African voice together with her backup singers and the haunting sounds of the ancient instruments in a resounding favorite of mine.
Many of Bob Marley's lyrics come from Marcus Garvey speeches and writings as some of these lines are in the spirit of Marcus Garvey and his writings on the unity of Africans, Africans in Africa, and Africans in exile in Babylon.
@@lesindorf-934videos What a bunch of bull. It's a bit naive to assume you could easily unite an entire continent as vast and diverse as Africa, but it's not a dangerous mindset. People coming together is almost always a good thing

problem is that many africans don't appreciate this kind of music. Have gone to western music 100%. that's y these artist have sold out shows in europe and not africa. Africans appreciate your own!!!
@Luca Bertani The problem is just that a lot of the music that the so called Black Americans created was inspired also by different sources like Latin Music and western classical music. (Miles Davis using harmonic structures and sequences taken from people like Debussy and Satie, and Coltrane using all kinds of traditional music from all over the world. Blues and western and country merged together to create a lot of music, e.g. rock music e.t.c.) No culture is really free from influence, roots and routes are always intertwined. Arbitrarily attributing the musical development to one subculture within a country wont do.
