    I fixed mine this weekend. Turns out the O rings where the choke pins go in were no good and air was going past them and making it lean.

    So in my situation, mine is shaft driven not belt, but it will backfire through the front carb and occasionally shoot fire out through it when the air box is off, but when I put the air box on it'll consistently and constantly backfire on a bout half throttle, below half it's a little sluggish climbing through the rpm, but above half throttle it seems to be fine and have normal power and speed, but if I try to pull anything in low it will spit and sputter like crazy, but from the video it seems like a good carb cleaning or even just a new carb entirely might help to the trick. Also something I noticed, if I point my hand on the complete intake of the back carb and it starts to choke out, whatever that piece of metal that takes up most of the throat of the intake tube,(the thing moves horizontally and if you give the motor throttle it'll move, it might be the throttle body) if I choke the back carb with my hand it'll move on it own I guess because it knows to try and give the motor more air but if i do the same with the front carb it just stays in the same position and doesn't move. Also if i go to choke the back carb the motor will almost choke out, but if I go to choke the front carb hardly nothing happens. I know this is alot I just tried to give as much info as possible and anything would be appreciated, thank you.

      Might want to peak at your diaphragm and make sure that's not broken. Also a good carb clean would be good.

    I’m wanting to upgrade my choke springs to stop fuel from leaking into the crank case. Do you know what springs I could use? I’ve heard use springs from a KLR but I’m not sure what year. Thanks

    • @whatsnext8825
      @whatsnext8825  3 года назад +1

      I guess I'm a bit lost. Not sure how choke springs would have any effect on this issue. To ke it sounds like you need to look into your needle/float. Make sure the float floats and the needle is getting a good seal!

    • @DieselZee
      @DieselZee 3 года назад

      @@whatsnext8825 apparently there is a common problem with the 02 prairies. I’ve heard they have weak choke springs that do not allow the choke to close all the way and when the bike sits for a long time gas leaks into your cylinders and down into your crankcase. One way to help is to turn the fuel off when not riding it. It’s all over forums but nobody says what kind of springs to put in. They just say change them out.

      @@whatsnext8825 this has happened to me last week. I forgot to turn the fuel peacock off and it say for a couple days. It was so bad the fuel fouled my plugs when trying to start it

    • @whatsnext8825
      @whatsnext8825  3 года назад

      Definitely sounds odd. The springs may just get weak. Possibly just new ones may do the trick. Maybe even stretching them a tad more to give extra resistance...dunno. Definitely a new one to me!

    I have an 2002 Prairie 650 just like you do that I bought used about 4 years ago and ut runs like a bat out of hell although you can hear it missfire once in awhile but I do have a question but not sure if you can answer it. I just replace the two front tires and one is wearing down a lot quicker than the other. I do ride it on our simi paved county roads if that means anything and I only do it in two wheel drive. Any ideas? Thanks!

    • @whatsnext8825

      Check the alignment....left to right...be sure they're pointed relatively straight! If out of whack, they can wear funny and quicker on pavement.

      Belt light puts it in a limp mode and won't rev because it thinks the belt broke. If you pull the belt cover off there is a switch. This can go bad and give false alarms. Best thing to do is buy a dyna tech digital ignition. It overrides the belt limp, reverse override and most importantly it gives huge horsepower increase by overrideing the de tune off idle and at 45 mph.
