Hi Guys. i have been living in Upper Hutt for 5 months now. the cost of living is not that high. the only thing that is high are rent for me. the highways suck here in this country but nothing else really. its always safe here and not once have i felt unsafe. no taxis also lol. i love it and would never move back to SA. i would advise people to not be afraid for change. its so much better. i work for the government and in they are looking for so many people to recruit. no job cuts here in my section of employment. cost of living is not so bad and i can save so much for my family in SA. Guys for a better future and life, i would suggest to make fast as you would love it in NZ.

I’m not leaving SA for NZ, it just does not makes sense to go live in such an isolated place for me, but many people go there, I suppose there is something they see that I don’t. Perth to, I’m definitely not interested in that city, only Sydney and Melbourne make sense. But with the way things are in all the western world I think Cape Town will do
I think a lot of people don't realize that cost of living has gone up ALOT everywhere including S.A, Went back last year and was quite shocked at the price of food. the gap has closed substantially. People get held up starting in lower positions as they were in S.A but once you accept that you can grow substantially within years. Thinking you can come over 1:1 is the downfall of a lot of people. Just remember the reason for moving, it's safety primarily. Yes it's hard, but totally worth it. I love going for walks through the city at night without constantly feeling my pockets when out and about. no burglar bars. no security company to pay. no firearm license required. no firearm required. ACC (big one people overlook) Basically if you were wealthy in S.A chances are much higher that quality of life may be better there in a gated community, with some assistance around the house.
These are some very good points, at the end of the day these videos intent to assist people to understand the differences and how their life will change before they make the move. We only realised these points once we settled and if we can assist others coming over we are happy. Thanks for interacting and watching!
Hi Loved your video, tip for window cleaning outside. Prepare a bucket of warm water about 5l add adash of washing up liquid and 2 good sqirts of dishwasher rinse aid (blue stuff) wet your windows with a hose, I use a very soft broom dip it into your concotion and wash, rinse off with the hose and allow to dry. Dries streak free due to the rinse aid and repels dirt for a few weeks. Blessings guys
But if you want to see rugby from Japan, golf from Thailand, it's great. Multiple pacific islands resorts just two hours away and pretty much the same time zone plus Cooks use NZ currency.
I recently moved to Denmark, the weather is still good but I am aware that sun is very shy to come out. Housing all over and the standard of living has become a challenge, well nothing compared to South Africa as it is still fairly reasonable that side.
Hi there. Ive been watching some of your video's since yourls move to NZ. My family is also just about a year living in New Zealand and i must agree with everything you guys have said. Some people say its petty, maybe so but experiencing it is a different story. I wish we knew what we know now. We also made the move for our safety and our kids brighter safer future but after living in New Zealand for a year now, we are considering moving back home. Its not easy here, the high cost of living, the culture shock. Thinking if we would ever afford to buy our own house seems just impossible. Having a secure financial free life here in New Zealand in the coming future seems impossible. The tall poppy syndrome is another thing. When we moved here we thought we would be able to start up a small business and own our own home once we have PR, like we had back home but it seems impossible. Its really tough. Hey guys im Kiwi in Melbourne, something you should really consider is coming to Melbourne or Perth, high quality of living and very good wages, there are lots of jobs available literally everyday, you get paid enough to cover living costs but also extra to do a little shopping, i been in both countries there a huge difference im a proud Kiwi but Australia is the land of milk and honey p.s stop beating us in rugby
Summer starts after Xmas and lasts to March. I have resided in NZ for 25 years …. 😊 😊! For many others this place is a nice exciting holiday destination (once you have experienced the rest of the world) bloody expensive …… compared to SA.
you cant talk about NZ from just an Auckland perspective as regards the weather and house prices. It's way different in Christchurch where I live. We aren't a rainy climate down here. Average prices and rents would be lower than Auckland too. Have you not considered that? And OMG talking about domestic help etc. Maybe used to that in Sth Africa but not here.

I can see a shift in your energy compared to your previous videos, and it seems like the reality of living in New Zealand is starting to set in. I am currently in New Zealand, exploring the possibility of moving here, but not committed yet. Before coming, everyone painted New Zealand as a perfect paradise. However, the reality is quite different. The people here are not particularly friendly, often coming across as stuck-up, and there's a lack of helpfulness. Companies are biased, frequently overlooking applications unless you have connections within the company. You always hear that New Zealanders get first preference, but many locals seem reluctant to work. The cost of living, including housing, food, and rentals, is unbelievably high, especially with the country currently in a recession. Companies expect you to start at the lowest level, regardless of your previous management experience. Many others portray an idealized version of life here just for social media likes, but you guys are keeping it real and honest. Good job, and I completely agree with your perspective after experiencing it myself.

I also picked up on the energy levels. As a durbanite who emigrated to norway 25 years ago, my guess would be that the weather really does have an impact on mental outlook. It is a banal point, but over the years i quit indoor training and took up year-round outdoor cycling. Get all the daylight you possibly can. All the cost of living issues are very familiar for those of us that moved to other countries as well, im still renting but will soon have enough for a down payment in one of the priciest markets in norway (i hope..) I think all south africans run into similiar issues pertaining to culture, regardless of where we move, we are easily misunderstood, perhaps percieved as "loud" or even arrogant. I am half norwegian but born south african, and 25 years later i still struggle with scandinavians (not the most forthcoming bunch). What fascinates me is the discrepancy between how new zealanders are commonly percieved, and the experience of actually moving to their country. I suspect newcommers to NZ find it disheartening. I remember attending high school in the nineties, and how exiting i thought it was to meet exchange students from abroad. I believe south africa to be a welcoming place for other nationalities, but i realize i have little to base that assumption on, so who knows. Anyway, my heart goes out to this couple, there are countless south africans in my age bracket that must have grappled with the same issues, the grass is not greener on the other side, but sometimes it doesnt make sense continuing to live in SA either.
Thanks so much for your honesty! Timezones and distance are hard definitely and 4 and a bit years later I can't say it gets much easier unfortunately. Best advice is have a standing WhatsApp video call or zoom setup on even a weekly basis with close family back home 😊 that's how we manage it currently 🤗
I find it hard to believe when people migrate and they are surprised the weather isn’t the same from where they came from ? Nz is well known for 4 seasons in one day and rain rain and more rain…the rain is what contributes to its green lush countryside. However I’ve lived in a lot of countries and the positives here out way the cons….Auck house prices that is the biggest crime here in NZ. Nice vlog I wish you well here in NZ.

As you wil know it can be a struggle to find work in South-Africa even when your qualified, especially when both needs to find jobs in the same area,because of that my fiance when to America as a H2a worker for 9 months of the year(he is in is second year now) and im a teacher here in South-Africa but we are looking to get married end November next year but how can we start building a future and life together when we only see each other 3 months of the years that why we thought about immigrating to new zealand where we can build a future together and raise our children in a safer environment. where do i start with this whole immigration process? How long does it take ?
my parents and larger families all arrived in early 1950's they managed and didnt spend time moaning about time zones (???? ) trips home ( they first went back after 25 years) or the weather (seriously?) unless you enjoy misery pack up and go back then because you wont ever be happy here
