coming from a wave, loving the arc. although it doesn’t feel as comfortable and smooth in my hand, the wave just felt like home, this is also the first time i owned anything from the free series . i don’t get a crap about the magnacut blade, as long as a blade is easy to sharpen im fine. the pliers also aren’t as durable the wire cutters chipped already. but all the other positives make up for it. over all im happy.
Thanks for the video, nice to have a first hand POV. Pretty sure they kept P4 etc without the bit holder etc so they could then release something like the Arc as an upgrade later on. Here in the UK the Arc is the equivalent of $320. Might be some time before I pick one up!
Great review buddy. !00% agree with the friction holding the tool closed, that was one of my biggest gripes. I mean I love my Wave + and Surge but I find over time the tool loosens and can fall open by like 0.5 cm sometimes, which is annoying. It does it on my Charge TTi, which is a good 13 years old now. I bought the ARC, cost me £260. Insane I know, but sort of worth it.
I wish the still have the original. My 1st one broke and never got it back from the MFG, the second one I lost under a friends house...... that was the last I use a leatherman. :(
On my wave + i have and these are similar. But never on anything super hard. I suspect those were a strategic decision by Leatherman to reduce the number of warranty returns, which required an entire plier head. Even though the customer pays for the new ones, I think a lot of customers would prefer to spend a few bucks to get replacements then send the tool off to warranty and wait to have it returned to them. Also, they probably engineered the hardness of the cutters to be below the breaking point of the pliers, that way, they always deformed before anything else broke, kind of like a designated break point. That’s just conjecture, though.
@35andRetired all of what you said is valid for all the other leatherman replaceable cutters, but I've seen at least 3 different videos this week that have shown the arc cutters breaking cutting wire that is easily cut by other leathermans, seems like the new batch of cutters are faulty
@@zripsterThey changed the design of the cutters at some point and screwed them up. Not only can they break, they don't cut well at all if you put the wire back towards the pivot. My original P4 from 2019 had the old style cutters which I swapped for the ones on my ARC. Hopefully Leatherman will go back to the old design that worked. It has nothing to do with the tool. They did it to all the replaceable cutters
@@35andRetiredi have the arc as well its a good tool so far i like that its $230 which i got mine as a gift as well . Baller status for sure you only live once might of well have the best
I wish too that it had the serrated blade with gut hook that the charge comes with.
Great review thank you!
👍
I love the new Leatherman Arc. Reminds me of a lightsaber. Lol.
Haha. Nice!!

I’m with you. I feel the same way about the feel and the blade material.
Thanks for the screw thread and length! I'm going to get some for mine as well.
Ya lost me…screw length?
Bought mine and i will not replace it for a long time. Also first time i have customized it with custom scale and my name on it! I love this tool.
Awesome!
love the review! straight to the point but still all-encompassing.
Ha! Jaze, how are ya brother? Didn’t know you were watching me on here 😂
Fantastic review
Thanks!

That could be! Yikes, that’s a lot. Sorry to hear that
Loved the crisp review, James.
So this will be your edc multitool?
Yep!
Arc will be a black friday deal hunt.... In a few years.
Haha. Probably right about that!

Thanks!! Wow, 13 years, that’s awesome. You in Great Britain? What part? I’ve been there a few times…

😩 sorry to hear that Bruce !! I lost one once too, major bummer.
He is the leatherman
Haha!
A really nice review, thanks !
Wish there was more of these and less of these shopping-addict "unboxing" like u said
Thanks. Yeah, I hate those useless videos….kinda embarrassing to be a human when you watch those things…imo
Hi! Nice review.
Have tried the hard-wire cutters? They seems to fail very easily...

@kellypainter7625 i know, that's what i was informing the other guy on. I specifically said "the new batch of cutters are faulty"
You're pretty knowledgeable about the Leatherman products, even though you're not an avid collector.
👍 I’m a user, not a collector. You?
@@35andRetired I have about 6 of them. Not a hardcore collector.
Do video with gloves on !
😂 why do you say that?
@@35andRetired because you said you can use glove so do another content video with work gloves dexterity

why would you pay 200 pluss dollars for a useless pos multi tool barely good enough for a tackle box item, these things are garbage
Coz I am a total idiot. Too bad I didn’t have your expert level review available at the time so I could have saved my 200 plussssss dollars!
been using the free series daily for years. everything from installing water main, electrical work, any trade craft really. they work just fine man.
That’s a great looking Leatherman! I have a signal that I really love! I might have to check out some more styles!👍
