Put in an order yesterday and couldn’t be more excited to get my hands on these well-thought-out, sleek accessories! As a pro union freelance lighting tech, I’m wearing my Leatherman Free P4 and medical shears in Kydex holders for 16 hours a day-they really dig into my side. Just upgraded to the Arc, so I’m stoked for these new additions! I do wish there was a sleek version of the Kydex holster for the medical shears, though. Thanks for the attention to detail; it’s clear these products were made with folks like us in mind. Here’s to more comfortable (and stylish) long days on the job!
@@MortyP Thanks for the compliments. Yesterday’s orders should print on Wednesday. I do have the Raptor scissors but haven’t had time to design anything around them. Their default holster is very bulky though.
Bought an ARC recently and came here via another youtuber's recommendation. I've already been looking at Kristen Van Patten's stuff, can't believe how many options you already have for the ARC! I'm going to try wearing the stock sheath for a bit and see if it needs to be replaced. I have a tendency to get googly eyes when it comes to gear, so while I love the look of your stuff I have to take it easy on my wallet for a bit! (The ARC I bought was used, but still spendy at $200.) I'll be staying tuned!
This looks amazing! I'm in school for CAD because I love additive manufacturing and the possibilities for stuff like this. I'd love to hear about your design process.
Hey bud, you are a genius! I'm very impressed with your ingenuity. Great work, I'll be interested in a horizontal one in the near future(i have a wave currently, but am looking at Garage and Arc awfully hard)
Dude you absolutely CRUSHED this!! Like.. I was on the fence about the tool itself UNTIL I saw your holster design and now I want one! Do you make one for the Arc as well?
For those that may have tool slippage issues, can one drill out holes to add magnets to help hold the multitool on place better? What epoxy is best to hold a magnet in the nylon/plastic your sheaths are made from? Would JB Weld suffice? Really like your sheath options, or I would not bother to keep asking. Did find screws for the Arc that did offer a tad more tension on the sheath. Not sure how long this will last. Would adding the thumb-hole covers you made, onto the saw & file, offer some resistance to keep the tool in more firmly? Still waiting for a fully armored case version. Bought the 711L adjustable wrench. It sort of holds on the bottom bit holder. May have to rethink how to carry it though, maybe a thin leather holster for it and the bit extender. Gearing up for a recumbent trike ride the end of June in Kellogg, Idaho.
This is some really impressive work sir, thank you for putting that time in. Any ARC holsters in the pipeline for us mortals who haven't got a Batch 5?
Could you please design one without a clip, featuring a continuous row of bit holders on the back, tapering near the edge? Alternatively, I'm interested in one that's flat on the back but can securely store the Leatherman bit set or a similar set of bits.
Your looking for a belt less (tool box / bag) version? I have done that for the P4 before. I may be able to mock it up this weekend. I don’t have plans to hold the bulky Leatherman Bit set though when I can integrate the bit holders directly into the print.
Yes, that's the exact design I was looking for. Your attention to detail with the current model and the added-on accessory capabilities would be perfect for me, especially with the continuous intergraded bit holders on the back and no clip.
The no-belt, lots of bits option is available to order, it holds 18 bits + the 711L + Ratchet. zapwizard.com/collections/garage-005/products/no-belt-18-bits-holder-for-the-leatherman-garage-005
What is the best way that you recommend, to break in these holsters? I just received mine today and none of the bit slots are usable. I have to basically hammer them in and out lol 🤦♂️
Push them through a about 6 to 10 times each, the detents are intentionally tight, but will wear in with use. I use the end of the bit extender to wear in the slot a bit or push the bits through.
Has the tool ever slid out of the case like getting in and out of driver's side car seats? That's my biggest issue, driving a Suzuki Esteem the car seat clip-in likes to mess with my tool cases.
@@ZapWizard Will say thatb the Garage #5 I have goes in way easy, and although it has not come out when worn - it is really easy to come out. Wished there was more resistance. Could be the lever on my tool. Who knows? Bits go in extremely difficult. Tempted to use oil to get them to slide in better. Volty went in well, as well as a longer bit. The Ratchet on kine does not seat all the way in like yours. The one I have goes in 10mm. It seems it does not want to seat the last 4mm of the nylon ratchet shaft. Have tried tapping it in to no avail. Do wished there was extra material to cover the outer side of the multitool like you have available for the Arc. Unsure if the newer Arc holster is compatible with the Garage #5. I like the armored pocket clip version. PCDoodle's LED light might work well with that cutout *if* they get it past the prototype stage. Will keep working the various bits over time. They are a beast to go in new.
Since there is no fully armored version available, will the nylon tool tabs help the G#5 from sliding? Something average sized people do not have issues with compared to a larger person, mine likes to slide upwards 1/2” to 3/4” if carried on my hip - which is more comfortable to carry. Gets uncomfortable to carry above the front pocket area. Trying to find some that works up until you will sell a fully or partially armored case. Like the build you have save maybe with an inverted ratchet.
Did notice by adding Arc screws in place of the Pocket Clip do indeed add some friction to your open-faced sheath. For how long I do not know. Was asking earlier if the thumb-hole covers for the Saw & File might offer more resistance/grip on the open faced sheath for the Leatherman 40th Anniversary Multitool aka Garage #005?
Ordered my ARC this morning. Yes, I plan on making a holster specific to it. the Garage 005 holster I have already fits it, but not perfectly due to the slight differences in the blade size and thumb tab location.
This is very, very well designed 👍 The space utilisation and klack noise soothes my OCD 😆 Does this mean you can claim Leatherman purchases on your tax return as research & design ? LoL
The thought that went into this is incredible.

Very clean and efficient design. Love the barnacle idea, would be perfect for those interested in the horizontal holster with the limited bit holders
Your products are awesome!! Can’t wait to get this in my hands!
Love it all, absolutely awsome. Looking forward to one in my future for sure.

Awesome work as usual!👍

Very nice design!
These are excellent! When I buy a leatherman arc I will pick up one of these 🤟😎🤟
Excellent stuff
I anticipate the arc will fit this, but I won’t say for sure until I get my hands on one.

Is it possible to get this for my leatherman surge with all these options along with something to hold an extra tshank?
Soonish, just gotta spend the time to back convert the newer features into the older holders.

Super glue holds well to 3D printed nylon (due to the slightly rough texture).
What material are you printing with? And what method of additive? FDM or SLS/Resin?
SLS Nylon 12

Fantastic, do you have a slim version available for a Surge??
You can order the surge without the extender. It still does have the blade holder though.

Is that volty bit safe to use? So that the leatherman doesn't zap my fingers?
Only for low voltage signals. As it says on the volty bit website.
Has the tool ever slid out of the case like getting in and out of driver's side car seats? That's my biggest issue, driving a Suzuki Esteem the car seat clip-in likes to mess with my tool cases.
I have never had the tool slide out, but the ratchet driver on the side has snagged on a seatbelt.

Do you think on making a duty holster for this multitool that is Armored ? like the ARC has?
It's on the plans, just not released yet.
Do you make a version for the harbor freight Gordon multi tool ?
@@kymindalehman4300 I make mine for the wave. Not sure if the Gordon is 100% compatible or not.

I have holsters for the surge. But they don’t have the ratchet and 711l holsters as those are both relatively new.

No. But got some other things coming soon(ish)
Does the sight adjuster bit driver extender fit the same as the regular bit extender?
There are separate options for holding the Ratchet Driver or the Bit extender. The base is the same, but the top grip is different.
will this work with the arc?
It should, but I haven't physically confirmed it yet.
