Brilliant! I love how you don't talk down to her. Your projecting confidence in her. Oh my gosh and then you empower her by sharing what you learned. GOLDEN 🧡
The other thing you can do to figure out which foot is dominant is if you have them turn around, them push them from behind. Whatever foot they poot forward is their dominant foot and is also the foot they should put forward. I was a snowboard instructor for a while and this is how we did it, awesome content, keep inspiring and keep skating!
We went from not having a channel at all, to having skaters from 5 states featured on our channel all thanks to the inspiration from Braille. About to upload the biggest trick ever on our channel this evening, a big 7 stair treflip. Thank you Aaron and Lance for getting me back into this after 20 years, it's been the absolute best.
Pheobe: “ ima scared I’m fall” Braille : “ fall?” Pheobe: “yeah” Braille: “ oh your scared you gonna fall, well if your gonna fall don’t fall” Pheobe: * falls 3 times “
We always used an easy trick to find out the front foot. Just stand behind somebody and give them a small push. The foot that they use to step out is the front foot :)
here is the thing that is so awesome, a new gen of skaters learning from one of the best. my son is six months old and i cant not wait to skate, and this is what im starting with. so braille, props to you guys.
A teacher, learns from his student, to teach the right way, thats the way you learn to teach!!!! You are a exemplary Teacher Aaron, you make a great Job. Greetings from Germany to all of you :)
This is perfect. I just showed it to my five year old who has been going up and down in the hall on her brother’s skateboard (he can’t skateboard at all) and she now wants her own skateboard!
Yo man thanks homie. This video is awesome. I showed it to my 6yo kid who got her first board yesterday for Christmas. Followed the steps you showed in the first 5 minutes and she's rolling! Now it's practice practice practice. Really helpful how you got her to orientate herself. Boom! Thanks again from Bristol UK!
This is adorable. Lately i have been thinking about how awesome it would be to teach children and beginners how to skate. I am not great but i can ride, ollie, kickflip, heelflip, 180 each way, fakie nollie, drop in, some vert tricks and other what i would call beginner tricks. I do not think i am good enough to teach many people but young kids or brand new skaters would be fine. It would be soooo much better then what i do for a living now. Keep living the dream Arron.
Barry Zadikoff Yea It's awesome that the kid is progressing, but braille is being lazy. Back then, they used to make epic videos especially in the summer. Makes me sad.
I haven’t skateboard for 18 years. When my son asked for a skateboard and wanted help learning I didn’t know how to explain it so simply this is incredibly helpful
Kostas Papadimitriou yeah when Aaron was helping her try to ride down the bank she looked like she was standing in the regulars fakie stance. And the mongo stance into regular part in the beginning too. I skate goofy so this is a sad day for me..lol
Was struggling to learn from yesterday, but couldn't even stand and go forward, but you taught and got me up and skating fluently in just 10 minutes with your video, amazing!!!
Aaron. This is probably one of the biggest compliments I can give here...trust me, you give of really huge Blues Clues Steve vibes in this. And its amazing.
please do a video on how to do the running start, when i try to do it my board goes to the right or sometimes the front bounces of the ground when i let it go
one tip i would like to add for little kids like her. let them also push around on their knees or their butt to get more feeling for the board, figure out the speeds it rides comfortable with and how you steer it. steering needs to be trick #2 after pushing to make it safe for the kids to practice on their own when they are outside. imagine they try to bomb a sidewalk down a road, get faster than they think and cant steer away from the coming crossing or the next tree. basics first for safety sake
Brianthegamer20 I started actually doing tricks that age. I'm that age now lol. I've skated and longboards so I had balance and started learning tricks and dropping in and stuff
This really helps me. I help teach kids to skate and built a little park for it. It's really fun and I learned how to teach by watching your visa as well. Thank you braille crew.
A presenter is pretty awesome... He is real ace skateboarder. Kid is just fabulous, she picked up the techniques just so well. I know quiet well how to ride roller skates and in line skates but wasn't familiar with skate board. This video inspired me to acquire new skills of skateboarding.
Great tutorial! Phoebe taught you something important, I think: to let children skate longer before progressing to the ramps. As a mom I'd have wanted it too. Perhaps this is how you do it, but moved to a new challenge because you were making a video.
Thank you for posting. Was trying to find a video to learn a few tips to teach my 5 year old how to skate and I did exact what you did with this girl and for her first time she did pretty awesome. All thanks to your video!! She wants to learn the next step! Please keep on posting videos like this!! Thank you so much!!
FIRST TRY!!!!! *scars Phoebe for life* I'm so glad I found this. I'm currently teaching my 5 yr old to ride his new board, and I'm seeing what I do right and what I'm missing. It's so fun watching a little one take to wheels.
Best way to find a beginners dominant foot imo is: 1. Put back and both heels standing against a wall. 2. Lean forward until the breaking point of a fall. 3. Catch yourself my walking forward. Whatever the first foot you catch yourself with should be your dominant side.
just 5mins with this video and i felt confident in teaching just watching my kid take the first step thanks man for the video. was having the feel the skateboard nd gears were a bad investment but then it now bring confidence with a smile
Maybe try explaining it as sliding on a hardwood floor in socks, that's how i usually do it.... also it helps to stand in front of the person trying to learn how to go down a bank that way they are already leaning down the bank.
the easy way to find out what foot must go in the front is to push him from the back when he is standing still with both feets together, and which feet he will put in front to stop himself from falling will be the leading foot
A trick I used as a snowboard trainer to determine what foot forward for a first timer... When the person is unaware, walk behind and abruptly give them a shove/push, then take note what foot goes forward first.
I just love braille they are so amazing to want to expand skateboarding and they are such warm-hearted people I see it a lot in Aaron too but their entire crew is just fantastic I love u guys
Super dope! I've been watching videos non-stop since I order my kiddo her first board. She's been asking for one for ages now, finally got her one! I told her that I didn't skate as a kid, so it'll be a bit of a challenge for me to explain to mechanics of it. This video is great, as well as, the others I've checked out. Inspired me to wanna try and get a cruiser.
One trick to find out if they are goofy or regular is to stand them up straight, legs together, then give them a gentle push from behind and see which foot goes out first. Which ever leg goes out first is the leg that should be in front.
Aaron (and Braille), first of all, I would like to tell you that I really love your videos! The way I use to tell whether a person is regular or goofy, I ask the person to stay in front of me facing their back towards me. Then I surprise them by pushing them forward (gently), and then see which leg comes out first. That is very likely the way the person would stand on a skateboard. Keep up the good work!
Sheriff Gizmo It's a question about how good are you at skating, if you can do fs powerslides, bs powerslides, drive a 100mph, then learn to ollie to the side that you're driving. But if you just started riding, then change the side.
Thanks man, I've been watching your videos for a week now and today was the first time I've managed to go from one side of a basketball court to the other side on the board properly. 🤘🤘🤘

This is actually more helpful to me than I thought, learning how to skate in my 30's.
Yes!! I started watching videos to help my kiddo. She and the videos inspired me to check it out in my mid40s.
Same 😂
Pheobe: “ ima scared I’m fall”

EnigmaBlue haha nope, I'm an engineer by trade.
Would a method like "trying a gentle push and looking which foot comes first" be useful?
Piotr Porada I've used that on older people before not with young kids but I think you need to kind of surprise them for it to work
the easy way to find out what foot must go in the front is to push him from the back when he is standing still with both feets together, and which feet he will put in front to stop himself from falling will be the leading foot
