Then you suck at skateboarding. If you own that thing for a month and you still have no balance and can't even ride that thing freely around town, then it's best for you to either start practicing or just throw it out. If you spend your entire day on the pc and now practicing now and then, what is the point of that thing? Idiots these days...
you should take as much time you need to learn tbh (i say this as a beginner, i got my board a week ago and am learning how to stand and properly balance)
I don’t even skate much anymore, I haven’t found the time in years. But i remember watching all your trick guides years ago and being so excited to go to the park with my friends and try them out. You‘re one of the reasons I spent so much time out there, connecting with friends and having fun. I miss it, i don’t know anyone who skates anymore. But the fact that you still make these videos makes me so happy. I know another generation of skaters will be well looked after.
Pick it up again man. I skated hard from 14-18, then quit to work more. My girlfriend became a wife. Apartment became a house. Hourly job turned salaried. NONE of those things have brought me as much personal fulfillment as picking up skating again in the last year at 34yo. I felt like such a drone. Always doing what I needed to do, and almost never doing anything I wanted to do. Don't only focus on what you have to. Focus on something because you want to.
just got my first board this week. did a little skating as a young teenager, but at age 33 im ready to give it a better shot. thanks for posting such a calm and judement free beginners video.
Best first day skating tutorial so far! Nobody talks about one footed balance for pushing / stopping or why one should use both legs to lift the end of the board. Monster Walk is also useful to get comfortable on the board.
IMO the best way to figure out your stance is thinking about how you slide on ice naturally. You kniw that when you are fooling around on ice in regular shoes. You run for it, and start sliding as it feels natural. Now that will also be your skateboarding stance. At least I got this advice, and it worked right away for me
i just got a skateboard and I'm new to riding one and i got a sweet helmet to match along with set of black elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards, it was a birthday gift, I'm 24
Please don’t stop your videos there fantastic I broke my leg 3 years ago trying to drop in on a ramp broke my leg both bones completely and just started back up again and your videos got me trying again thank you so much ❤
Thank you so much, I just got my skateboard yesterday and this video helped me very much, especially the part when I realized that I put my whole feet on it
i started skating ALMOST 2 years ago, last year moved into an apparent complex and im sooo scared to skate outside of my house. before that i skate on my roof, just learnt to almost ollie and ride the board I'll updates if i skate outside tho :)
Started watching in 7th grade, graduated a year ago from high school and haven’t skated in 3 Years bc I got into the gym but damn came back to see that he stopped posting is sad
just got my skateboard yesterday, thought it was a great idea to skip steps and try doing a trick- I fell and fractured my arm LMAO. I shoulda watched this video before I started doing anything on my skateboard.
Hey man I am a big fan of your content and since I started skating in October all of your beginner tutorials were very helpful I just wanted to ask you if you can make more videos about more intermediate level skateboarding and maybe not really about tricks since you have covered most of them but about different concepts and ways to improve them in order to progress. I am a big fan and I thank you for the beginner friendly content you have provided until now!
I’ve been skating for about more than half of my life and I’ve recently started doing tricks , I’ve just used my board to cruse around and now I really want to do tricks and I’m mainly struggling with commitment , I’m so afraid of breaking something yk
It's been 20 years since I've been seriously on a board and now my kids wanna learn. This is a great video to refresh my memory and get them started. Thanks!
Practiced standing and rolling for 3 days before I tried heading to work and going down a huge downhill. I never practiced stopping. Terrifying but super fun experience
Dang I remember when I first started. That was 18 years ago now. Amazing I still see the change happening in the youth today. The sooner you start the better off you'll be.
This video helped me SOOO MUCH. I got my board today and I already know how not to fall of my board immediately, and how to ride very slowly! THANK YOU ♥️
Hey there! I’ve been skating for 6 days now and i guess i took it pretty fast lol😭i went down the steepest bank that didn’t require dropping in on my 2nd day
I remember when I first started skating I used some running shoes, then changed them to some AirWalk’s after the outsole started to wear out and the mesh that made the shoes ripped apparat after trying Ollie’s for the first time lol
Save up for some shoes, but if you wanna try riding barefoot or on crocs until you have enough money that’s ok. Just don’t do anything to crazy until you get new shoes so your safe
i'm good now, but why didn't RUclips show me this first? All the videos RUclips showed me first were all the same. "Way too advanced info." This is 1000000% everyone needs when starting the first time.
Bro I’ve been watching you for around a year or a few months over a year I started skateboarding and I learned an Ollie after watching a video of yours. Then I started doing more tricks that I learned from your videos couldn’t master a kick flip. I stopped skating and here I am I started skating again and I’m working on a kick flip rn so thank you for your content
I love your videos man, been skating for like 2 weeks straight since i started and its so additing and ur vids help a lot. plus i sometimes see places from my town which is cool lol
As with anything in life, you just need thousands of hours at any task to become good. Pilots are required to have at least 1000 hours in a specific plane, same for boat captains. Gymnastic spend hours, same for ice skaters, any athletes in any field. Same for those fast asian food workers. Skateboard instructors tell you to just ride it until you've become 1 with it. That's when you can attempt tricks.
Bro i remember whatching ur videos like 5 years ago when I didn’t know hiw to oliie and now i can tre flip first t thank you for teaching me how to skate😊
I started skateboarding 2 days ago and i think its going good, i can jump on the board while its moving and im happy about it i have no idea what to do now lol😅
Moving the board around on the tail feels right when I have my right foot forward but standing and pushing off only feels right when my left foot is forward.😅
You just gotta practice your balance, try just standing on one let or standing in place over carpet and then one you got that down try moving to concrete
Everything the comment above me said, but also, your trucks may be a bit loose if your board is really unstable, so you might have to tighten them with a wrench, or maybe go to a skate shop so they can do it for you (tho it’s really not hard to do it yourself)
@@Ghostyislost i have been practicing balance since i posted my comment. I do honestly suspect the trucks are loose. Afterall, this is a board I bought at walmart for 25 to start. I’m gonna test it out, see what it is. Because it’s not even me falling off of the board, the board itself just has no resistance to shifting onto one side
i literally got my board today and you posted this 7 minutes ago. you’re a godsend 😭😭
Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉
Same
Good luck!
Quickly becomes one of the most addicting things to do
@@andygonzalez3334couldnt be more correct
it makes me happy knowing new people are picking up a board every day
I wanna skate so bad but I’m embarrassed to do it infront of anyone because I’m a beginner😔🤚
Me who own a skateboard for a month and still watching videos for people who stand on a skateboard for the first time.

I camt imagine not meeting a grew of people who dont skate (i didn't) but most people i knew in school had some familiarity with how to handle one

You just gotta practice your balance, try just standing on one let or standing in place over carpet and then one you got that down try moving to concrete
