infuriating amount of progress on a first day. anyone whos learned on their own knows all of that took weeks lol. especially 1/4 pipe drop ins. i was in disbelief he even attempted on day 1. and then to perfect an ollie???!??!?! cmon man
@@Dwskiiitbf I’d imagine his friends water boarding and being athletic helped a ton. People with zero experience on boards will definitely have a harder time. Still crazy how much he got done though.
This was awesome. This dude's superpower as a beginner is actually committing. That first try at an ollie there was no hesitation to try and land back both feet on the board. And for those newer skaters who are scared to drop in... Guy is brand new on the board and slipping out trying to stop or roll out fakie on a tiny ramp but he was able to drop in on that 1/4 pipe because he actually committed to the forward lean and smacking the wheels down. Great demonstration of how the challenge of dropping in is almost 100% mental, not actual physical difficulty. I'm sure every one who stands on the top of the coping for the first time HATES it when they hear us say "You just have to do it" but there's literally no other explanation or trick or anything, you really just have to effing do it haha.
I just started skating like a 2 months ago. Just started getting comfortable with an Ollie on flat ground. Gotta master it rolling now. Just recently getting knee pads and elbow pads def boosts my confidence cuz I’m not so afraid of the falls now.
Lets leave some encouraging comments for Shaun! And Thanks to The Ridge for sponsoring this video. Go to ridge.com/ricky for 40% off through June 15th!
Drop in, second try? I don't know many people who actually did that! That is very impressive. If he wants, he's got the talent, now he has to put in the hard work.
Just a idear my wife wanted to skate and had the same problem this gentian did with staying on the board. What helped my wife get a better feel was just ride around on some OJ 🍊wheels on a regular skateboard that way she didn’t get stopped by cracks rocks and unwanted debris. Then when you are comfortable put some regular wheels back on once the riding is perfected.
As a 53 year old that just started to skateboard I feel like I want to cry watching this young guy progress so fast. 😥😥 I'm still happy I can drop in and carve a bowl though.🙏🙏

Started back skating after ab 8 years. Went to drop in on ab an 6ft ramp. Busted my ass. when you step with that lead foot. BEND YOUR KNEES AND LEAN FORWARD
Just started again at 35. Was a big help watching this. His progression was so quick. I want to drop in, stood there 30 times. Lost my bottle for it over the years.
belive most important is just go and role around , pushing till you feel comfortable , then power slide to slow down , then try to oli after rolling oli then over curbe , once you nail that , your good rest of tricks will come with time , i see so many kids try to pull a rolling oli flip , when then can not iven push the board or just roll around confidently ,
Is this the average progression rate because if it is, this is really demotivating for me because I’ve been skateboarding for almost a month and I can’t even drop in. I literally sprained my ankle yesterday. Just trying to learn how to drop in and he did it like second try😅
When you told him about the back foot for the shove i didn’t knew it was a shove-it so i thought you were trying to teach him how to tre flip and i was like « uh yeah ‘’teaching a non skater how to do all the BASIC tricks’’ »
Im 36 and have been skating about 3 or 4 months. I push Mongo and simply don't feel comfortable pushing regular. Should I give any time to focus on pushing regular?

Lol i should make a vid like that
@@rickyglaser I'd watch ⌚️
That Ollie was legit. This dude straight crushed it!

This was so rad! For a beginner, he absolutely crushed it! MAJOR props to him and props to Ricky for the coaching, too.
I love seeing people learn on a skateboard from the beginning. His ollie is already better than mine! 😵
after 1 day he dropped in it took me over a year of skating
It took me 1 and a half years
It took me 2 years to learn how to Ollie
@@ZECSK8 damn i ollied in my first month and theyre pretty high and consistent
@@silent80812 damn i learned my ollie first day lmao they were decent theyre better now
I’ve been skating for two years and I can’t drop in
I love how you make him grip his own board that made me laugh ❤

Awesome, have fun with it
Thanks!!! I bodied HARD on a power slide this week. Reminded me I’m 30 not 18 anymore
In the exact same spot right now! Feeling good with the flat ground ollies but adjusting to the rolling ones. How's your skating now man?
Bro is a prodigy, I learned an ollies four months ago and I still cant get ones as good and consistent as his
Awesome video and concept. I hope you do more videos like this Ricky.
thanks!
As a beginner i just cried
That was sick! I guess skim boarding really helped with the balance aspect, super fast progression.

Fun day! Can honestly say I like sk8
Thanks for shredding!!
You killed it
I dislocated my shoulder yesterday on a board slide. Watching skateboarding videos is killing me.
im glad you had enough of a heart to clean up the grip tape for him lol
I’m convinced that if this guy taught me, I’d be a pro skater by now.
this was very encouraging to take my time
Insane progression❤🔥
hope you keep up with it Shaun! you are a natural

this channel is really underrated ngl, but great video!
as a beginner, this is kinda like the ultimate tutorial w/o being a tutorial. Not me takin notes int he background lol
Skim boarding really gave him a nice confidence boost I'm sure
In before Ricky picks up the old braille Live support again~ 👀👀
That Ollie was so fricking good I’m jealous 😭
What an awesome video dude

U can do it! I’m 39 I dropped in again first try after not doing it for 21 years on 4 foot but I did drop maybe 2-3 foot about 7 years ago.
Great video. I'm 29, never skated and just bought a board and this is the video I needed 🙏
the fact hes in shorts bothers me lmao, i NEVER skate in shorts anymore😭😭 learned my lesson
Hi Ricky
this video is the best everr
thank you for your own channel

6:00 I used to skateboard a little bit but i know this is scary bc a lot of the time the board is slipping on that "drop in"
I just realized bro was mallgrabbing the times we did see him hold the skateboard 😂 it’s ok thiugh 😂😂😂

Got them nyjah shorts 😂.. really good job from both of you.. hopefully he keeps shredding
I liked the part when ricky said "yeaaaahhh"
thats A LOT of pop in that ollie especially for a begginner, unironically impressive
Only one day dude? Awesome!
He shredded!
Brings a whole new meaning to sponsored skater from the San Francisco Bay Area haha love it
vans authentics are GOATED for skateboarding but the canvas shreds in a session or two :(.

Well he has a bit of a advantage because he does whatever that water board thing is called so he has a better balance and just has the feel kinda
Dang? Landing a stationary ollie on day one? Your friend is a protégé
Ricky is the best couch in skateboarding
i forget how many very basic tricks there are that you can do even before an ollie
Same, I was like "Oh there is a name for that?" for like half the video.
i love your vids so much thank you for making me want to skateboard

thanks!
Your boy made it look so easy shove it first try, man I am struggling myself!
Going to buy my first skateboard in Manchester uk tomorrow. Hope I make some chill friends to skate with!
One more request: teach a female non-skater!!
Are you saying woman can't skate?
That's the same thing..
It would just more relatable for US female skaters. Representation! 🙄
Good idea!

bro, im also 36, skated one season 15 years ago and now im back. All i can say that Mongo is just a big NO!
ive been to this skatepark and its cool that they went there

CRAZY
You should do tutorials
Don’t tell Aaron but you are my fav braille skater.
I can power slide, Ollie and 360. I can't drop in. It scares the shit out of me.
he's been on a board before and already has center of balance from water sports. I guess you don't want to hurt someone.
Helmet!
him doing an ollie that high on day 1 hurt my soul
Awesome tutorial
Your an amazing teacher
5050 and drop in before Ollie is hilarious 😭😭
I am loving skateboarding since I did my perfect ollie on concrete
