    My '18 mt10 turned into a TOTALLY different machine after ecu was flashed. I know Chase has a badass exhaust system and his ECU flashed on his '19 so he knows what I'm talking about. I did decat/exhaust system but 95% of power increase and things like proper fuel mapping to smooth out "snatchy" are from JUST competent $300 ecu flash😮. Decat and exhaust add a couple more hp but dump about 18lbs in weight, well worth it. I got my bike a couple summers ago with 1k mi on it for $9800, essentially a new bike. I have no idea how you could go this fast and have this much fun with $10k. FANTASTIC!

    Man, the Ohlins electronic suspensions on this bike do worth every penny ! The only things i would have loved are a better screen, and brembo stylema brakes ! I do not understand why they put the stylema on the MT09 SP but NOT on the MT 10 SP ! It doesn't make any sense ! (oh one more thing : I would have loved to have been able to choose the bike color too and not be stuck with only one color for the SP model...)

    Hi @chaseontwowheels in the video you refer to power mode 1 as full power. You should be aware that only throttle response varies between Power modes 1-3. All are full power. In power mode 1 - 50% throttle is full throttle. Mode 2 75% throttle is full throttle. Mode 3 is 1:1.

    Bro, on my Super Tenere my foot got stuck kinda like that. When I put my left foot down as I normally would while rolling to a stop, my jeans went over the little metal 'guard' above the foot peg. My foot just stopped going down and was about 5 inches from the ground. I managed to lift my leg up fast enough to get unstuck and put my foot down just as the bike started to hit the point of no return. I barely saved it, and didn't go down. The anxiety of just thinking about that again...a chill ran up my spine LMAO.

      Same thing happened to me with my first bike (Rebel 300) thankfully it was a cruiser so I had plenty of time to catch it but man what a scary feeling, ever since I always make sure to ride with my laces tucked in the front laces that cross over and my jeans tucked in inside the boot. Im taking no chances 😂

    Great review. I'm buying my MT10 in a few weeks. Interestingly I went with the non-SP model specifically for track days. I appreciate the SP suspension, but for 3K I can set mine up to my needs perfectly. I'm also not too stoked to have so much stuff ECU dependent, especially since I do my own maintenance and I don't have the software, etc.

  • @willl84
    @willl84 Год назад +5

    1: It doesn't have less power in the different modes. Every mode has the same power. The change is in the delivery of the power.
    2: Yamaha had the TFT on the first gen but only the SP which the US didn't get in the first gen.
    3: it's not really any more "efficient" and surely isn't 20% more efficient. They dropped one tooth on the rear sprocket to bring the revs down and gain like 1-2 mpg. Do the same (or even drop 2 on the rear to match the R1 gearing) to your 2019 and you'll get better MPG and more range. I might drop one on my 19 when it's time.

    Cool video on a great bike! Have the same bike and the paint and belly fairing alone are worth the $3,000 upgrade over terrible base color, the suspension is the best I have tried to date and really smoothes out rough California roads. The milage I am getting now that bike is fully broken in and using Yamalube synthetic oil is around 40 mpg and the change in rear gearing over previous version helps with that. Use your trip meter to monitor fuel gauge. The engine is the star of the show and its my favorite sound and powerband for aggressive street riding thru canyons my only gripe is the inability to lower the handlebars, just an inch wider and lower would be perfect but its so good all around that I dismiss any shortcomings and enjoy the hell out of this bike!

    OC - I've ridden a buddy's 2022 MT-10 (non-SP) with a flashed ECU which pumps out 165 rwhp. Given that I was on the crappy roads in the East Coast of Canada and the performance of the "regular suspension, I personally could not see a need to have the SP. Once you're over the "slightly" legal speeds, the regular suspension does a great job of keeping the bike planted and tracking where you want without being jittery. So, for my money, I'm keeping the extra money and putting it into better gear. Can't speak to the track component but it logically makes sense the SP suspension would be of value there.

    • @Greddi

      @@Greddi perhaps so. I couldn't accurately say, but I didn't think it was a necessary upgrade if I was happy with what the stock setup was doing. I suppose ultimately the word "better" is a certainly subjective term whether referring to gear or suspension as it is applied to every day use. 🙂

    • @thepassionofthegoose5472
      @thepassionofthegoose5472 Год назад +2

      I went non-SP for that exact reason. Once set the stock suspension is fantastic on public roads, even when pushed. Also, I'm not thrilled about having my suspension tied to my ECU. I do all my own maintenance and I'd like to minimize dealership laptop visits as much as possible.

    • @escanor9920
      @escanor9920 11 месяцев назад +2

      You guys saying that stock suspensions are "ok enough" are completely wrong and obviously lacking knowledge when it comes to physics.
      If you guys don't have the money for it, I do respect that, go for the regular MT 10.
      But If you do have the money, the Ohlins suspensions are worth every penny !
      Don't forget that motorcycles have 2 wheels only and having great tires and great suspensions makes THE WHOLE DIFFERENCE !
      Why do you think that one of the biggest and more expensive upgrade in competition goes to suspensions first !? think about it...😅😅

      I think one of the modes (rain) is around 100bhp the rest are full power. I own a 22 mt10 standard.

      @@marksimpson5218 the modes do not change or limit the power. Period. All they do is change the rate at which the electronic throttle valve opens in response to actual throttle input from your hand. Mode 1: fastest. 2: medium. 3: slowest. All it does is reduce how fast the throttle on the bike actually opens. It's still full HP

    The nose on this bike is 100% UGLY, and that single headlight is a deal-breaker for me. Hopefully Yamaha improves this for 2025, as I will have money to buy then. Also, give us a "GT" version.

    It so ugly. At least the old model was not THAT ugly, that front light I could not even forget about while riding the bike, I do not get how you they could even come up with something that foul.

    I really do not like at all the sound of this bike, I just love the sound of normal and tradicional 4 inline, smooth music sound, even better 6 inlines like the good old Honda cbx1000 or Kaeasaki kz1300, now days bikes are just sooo horrible, they are not bikes, they look like 3 years old transformers toys....every year almost all companies are trying to make moyorcycles more and more ridiculous and stupid......We are no riding motorcycles anymore but stupid computers and tables, enough is enough...no more mens bikes anymore or naked muscle bikes....they even want electric bikes, wtf is that....please stop all that bs......

    I hate this bike so much not because it's big, too powerful or anything but because of that ugly headlight. Sure, the headight looks way better than it's previous gens but it's still ugly 😑 fr everthing about that bike looks so damn good expect it's headlight 😑 which then again kills everthing 😑 Starting to make a conclusion that Yamaha designers just can't can't come up with a nice looking headlight for their Mt series 😕
