the most fun I'v ever had on a motorcycle while being reasonably comfortable. It's truly a comfortable liter bike. Have riden 500 plus miles with little discomfort and stops for gas and food. purchased two months ago, couldn't be happier, if you're on the fence about buying one, don't be, buy it.
If the 2022 SP came in black, I'd have bought one of those rather than the 2022 standard model I did buy. The black levers are an SP extra, and don't forget the polished swingarm. That fuel gauge has caught me out a couple of times already during my breaking in period. To my stock model I added Yamaha's new comfort seat, black akra silencer, Gilles adjustable levers, tail tidy, spindle bobbins, engine sliders, paddock stand bobbins all by Evo-tech, GB racing engine covers, Yamaha oil cooler and rad covers and Yamahas rubber tank pad and side grips set, Oberon bar end mirrors, quadlock mount and a personalised reg plate. It looks like Batman's bike, (in my head anyway). I took delivery last November and was in for first service just before Christmas before putting her to bed for winter. Spring is almost upon us in the UK and I cant wait to do some proper miles on mine. I'm on the lookout for a titanium mid pipe, a carbon fibre hugger and some smaller turn signals and then I think I'm about done. Also the stock tyres are worth a mention I think. Very impressed.
Hi Chase, I have a MT10 SP and I have found that Thumb Wheel that you dislike, can work better if you push it in an upward motion, seems to work more consistently. Also the worth mentioning is the electronic Öhlins front, rear and Steering Damper are all linked - to control the bike's line. At track days, you can get on the gas hard earlier, pulling a wheelie and if the front wheel is not straight when it lands, the bike just goes straight. 👍 My old bike with manually adjusted Öhlins, used to almost high side me every time.. So for me, the extra money for the SP was so worth it.
I purchased the 2022 MT 10 in all black last year. The SP is a beauty for sure but, for my needs, the extra $3k wasn't worth it. Whatever trim you purchase, a smile will ensue! No regrets here that's for sure. Safe riding folks.

Chase how is the wind while on the highway and how would this compare to say a Ducati street fighter V2. Roughly the same Hp and from what I’ve seen selling for close to the same.
@@Jtwizzle thanks I started watching about a minute after he said that. Next bike would be commuter mostly on interstate so wind beating me up is a big deal
This is a bike you can keep really long term. It’s a Yamaha so very reliable and won’t cost much to maintain and keep working well. It’s also easier finding Yamaha parts and dealers vs the Ducati. Personally the Streetfighter V2 is a gorgeous bike and an absolute joy to ride BUT this MT10 has the better package. The V2 doesn’t come standard with Ohlins suspension so for the money you get a little more with Yamaha but if you’re a fan of Ducati that’s the one to go with imo. Just make sure you don’t keep the Ducati for longer than warranty covers unless you’re loaded and money is not an issue at all. If you’ll want to change in a few years anyway, give the Ducati a test ride. The Yamaha will be easier to live with and will have a better commuting ride but it absolutely will not make you look back at it the way the Ducati will.
@@shahzebnasir4692 thanks didn’t even think about parts availability or maintenance cost. Would be using it for touring and work commute so the ohlins suspension would be a great plus. Colorado has really crappy roads. Thanks for the info give me a lot to think about.
@@mattstakeontheancients7594 Yeah drops can happen to anyone of any skill level and sometimes someone else might ding or scratch a fairing or part on the bike which you'd need to replace. The Yamaha will be cheaper to find parts for and you won't need to wait for parts to get to your dealer from Italy. If you're looking for a Ducati to tour with and commute with look at the Supersport 950 S. It's so incredibly underrated, has Ohlins suspension and is GORGEOUS. It's also incredibly comfy and won't get as hot when you're standing at red lights as the V2. Go try all 3!
Hi Blake. I am looking at buying an SP but most of my riding is on bumpy country roads. I currently have a Tracer 9 GT and find the suspension too firm even in A-2 suspension setting. How does the SP handle the bumps ?
@@butchcassidy9125 I have the pleasure of living in Nova Scotia, our roads are pretty smooth and well maintained. I have driven the bike on rough roads though and absolutely love the ability to switch the suspension on the fly while you’re riding. A1 is super hard, and probably meant for tracks, but I find myself using that the most, as the bike feels like it’s on rails in the turns in that setting. A2 is a little bit less hard, and A3 is really soft, I use A3 on rough roads, it’s like magic suspension. Plus you get all the Manual settings also, that you can tune yourself through the menu. The 2022 SP handles much better then the 2018 for sure.
@@blakefollett Thanks very much for the reply, Blake. I live in the back blocks in Australia and our local roads are poorly maintained. An adventure bike works better on the roads here, but I like something a bit more sporty. The SP in A3 sounds ideal for here.
Since you rode both, would you choose the mt10sp or the s1000rr? I can either get a 23 s1krr with 600 miles, first service completed, a full akra exhaust and a bren tune, along with the oem exhaust and tune handheld so i can switch it back to stock if I want; or I can get a new mt10sp then buy and full exhaust and tune for roughly the same price
The MT10 is a crazy bike. Since they are very strict in terms of following the speed limit, maybe the XSR900 would be the best Yamaha bike here in my country. There are too many vehicles here in the city and as a rider here in the Philippines, I am not sure where I can use that kind of speed. Would like to know which would be better though. 2022 Yamaha XSR900 or the incoming 2023 Triumph Street Triple RS? Thanks, Sir! Big fan of your vids!
Its a difficult choice. I'm also from the Philippines and the only models available are the MT10SP or the MT09 (non-SP). I'm leaning towards the MT10SP though even if its overkill.

Unfortunately here in ontario sport bikes are basically inaccessible in price for insurance. 24k a year for a fucking 2018 gsxr600 they wanted! Nuts! The bikes only worth 8k here.
They need to make an xsr1000 . They also need to make a competitor for the KTM 690 and Husqvarna 701 I don't understand why they haven't already they already have the platform... They can use the engine from the raptor 700 with slight modifications or they can use the mt-07 engine which is the cp2.. why aren't they acting on this if Yamaha made a competitor for the 690 in 701 they would kill the market because everyone wants the Japanese reliability I myself would sell my 690 SMCR immediately and buy it.
Hi Chase, I haven't had a chance to go and sit on one as of yet. There is one that's in McDonough GA. It's a 23 model. I noticed the pegs are set a little bit to the rear. @@P.M_M Yeah exactly , I do not know what they werer thinking of. Would have been better if they took the time and made something mean looking like the first time. The ugly headlight aside I think the new MT-10s got decent but very expected upgrades. It is such a raise in price since the older model that I think it would be smarter to just buy the old model, it looks better and they are a steal on the used market. As i get older i find the small trade off for comfort over speed you can't even feel or use in daily riding .I rode this bike and its just a fantastic bike and its 10k cheaper than my Kawasaki .
Ok, so what the difference between 2023 MT10SP &
XSR900?
Different engines. Different frames. Different suspension….
The MT09 SP is closer comparison against the xsr900
Ever heard of Google?
I think its look bigger and better then the old one🤙🔥🔥✊
They need to make an XSR 1000, I love my XSR 900
I agree I don't know what they're waiting for
Tracer 1000 also
MT10SP vs MT09SP? What makes them different? Why would I buy one over the other? Awesome!
I'm waiting to see what the answer is, what are your thoughts? @Leigh5050? I'm leaning towards the MT10sp but still not sure if I'm sold on it. I currently ride a MT07

People say it’s ugly, but I say it’s perfect! I’m ugly too so screw you people! 😂
Is there a charging/Bluetooth port ?
Not a fan of the new front. Liked the last gen better. Looked more meaty haha
Will the lift control stop one from looping this bike?
Chase I would love to see a comparison video of the SP vs the Ducati Streetfighter 🙌
What do you guys think about the Yamaha mt07 2023 version ?
Great stunt bike
Went from 2018 to 2022 SP. Love my bike.
I just noticed wearing a hoodie forms a poor mans aerodynamic hump behind the helmet, who needs race leathers...lol..rock on!
Strange that you mentioned the lower number is least intervention... its exactly the opposite on the MT-09 SP? Weird!
Off topic but do you have your yearly group ride anymore?
the timing on that gas was crazy lol
Im from bicol and i previously owned a 2022 mt10sp. It is too much for our roads here. I cannot ride it to it's full potential. Sold it and bought an adventure bike instead.
@@roquexerxestorres3718 Ang panget talaga ng mga daanan dito, lalo na sa NCR, puro butas. What adventure bike did you end up getting? I'm also looking at the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer. Seems like an awesome machine.
@@Reivbv was contemplating on the super tenere vs GSA. Opted to go for the german brand. Sinunod ko lang advice ng mga matagal na nagbbike dito. No regrets. Adventure bike is the way to go sa mga kalsada natin dito.
@@roquexerxestorres3718 Thank you for your inputs and comments Xerxes. I ended up buying the MT10-SP last week. I'll probably get an ADV bike in the near future though. For me its a fight between the GSA and Tiger. Theres actually another bike that looks super awesome that is fairly new. Have you seen the Street Triple 765 RS in cosmic yellow?
Bro disana harga berapa yamaha MT 10 SP?
Good stuff. Makes me want to upgrade my MT07 but I’m 90% done dialing in my 07. 😅
@Chaseontwowheels Which is better?? Mt09sp or MT10sp??
Gas gauge == useless. It would be nice if they were accurate but I rarely trust them. Have a Vulcan S that does something similar - you think you got a full tank, NOPE. Dad taught me a long time ago to always reset the trip every gas fill up, helps track your milage and gives you a better indicator before you're pushing...usually😆Love the sound of that Yamaha cross-plane when you went to 85ish. Nice review man!
I love the look of these but anyone else think the caliper design doesn't do the bike justice? Maybe I just like the brembo brake caliper designs, the m4.32s on my 2020 street triple just look awesome. I love the look though, I think the SP will be the next bike I go for. Unfortunately here in ontario sport bikes are basically inaccessible in price for insurance. 24k a year for a fucking 2018 gsxr600 they wanted! Nuts! The bikes only worth 8k here.
@chaseontwowheels: Do you have any problems with your camera on your iPhone after mounting it onto the Yamaha? Did the camera module crash or not?
They need to make an xsr1000 . They also need to make a competitor for the KTM 690 and Husqvarna 701 I don't understand why they haven't already they already have the platform... They can use the engine from the raptor 700 with slight modifications or they can use the mt-07 engine which is the cp2.. why aren't they acting on this if Yamaha made a competitor for the 690 in 701 they would kill the market because everyone wants the Japanese reliability I myself would sell my 690 SMCR immediately and buy it.
Is this bike good for highway when other bikes are on the road? 😁
Hi Chase, I haven't had a chance to go and sit on one as of yet. There is one that's in McDonough GA. It's a 23 model. I noticed the pegs are set a little bit to the rear. I'm 6'1" and I wonder how I would feel after a few hours of riding. I did get to sit on a 2023 kawasaki ninja 1000sx and I liked it. The pegs were in about the same position. Just wanted to see what you think How tall are you?
So sad that we aren't getting any more MT10's in South Africa 😭😢😭.
There goes my chance at owning my dream bike.
Chase! Would you throw a full exhaust at this or does it sound awesome already?
I really don't like yamaha naked bike at all, but I do like their sport bike like R6 R7 R1 only...
I did not either for many years but they started to grow on me.
@@Jtwizzle have you ridden a 07/09 or 10? If you get a chance to I think you’ll enjoy them quite a bit!
Yall have any used mt03? Looking for one
I had an 2017 MT10 it was the most comfortable bike I have ever rode.
This or tuono v4 factory/m1000r?
Beautiful Chase? RLY? That front end is terrible, It looks like they had no more parts and just threw something on. I had the older MT-10, same as Chase. When the MT-10 came out the front end was either loved or hated, I thought it looked pretty cool and that it had a bit of transformers look to it. This new MT-10 front end looks like a dogs dinner in my opinion. Maybe there will be better looking aftermarket options :)
@chaseontwowheel__I’ve got a 2016 MT10. Looks like a mean transformer. New one looks like Johnny 5 model from the Short Circuit film that didn’t get finished for production 😂
@@P.M_M Yeah exactly , I do not know what they werer thinking of. Would have been better if they took the time and made something mean looking like the first time. The ugly headlight aside I think the new MT-10s got decent but very expected upgrades. Too bad they are creeping up in price close to 20 000 euros, that is a lot for a japanese naked bike and that is just for the standard MT-10. It is such a raise in price since the older model that I think it would be smarter to just buy the old model, it looks better and they are a steal on the used market.
Where I am at you can buy a used MT-10 2017 for half the price of a new 2023 model :D
@@mathias6423 My 2016 is 2nd hand to me. Paid £6899 for it. Very much a steal imo.
the laugh of pure happiness from Chase - way to go yamaha 🤣
A solid review.
aprilia tuono v4 ftw
Love to ride an MT-09 OR MT-10 one day. Chase your channel is definitely great and you put out some awesome content especially the first rides. Any chance you could do a first ride on a 2023 Kawasaki ZX6R? I promise you won't be disappointed.
What the hell am I suppose to do with an empty 10??
-- Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg
Bur for real, I love the look of the MTs in general. I kinda wish I had been able to find an 03 when I was buying. I love my Z400, but the MT-03 is just a bit better looking to me.
OC: I think I'd go for the base MT10 over the SP. But since I own a 2022 MT09 SP, I wouldn't be going for either. That price gap between the MT10 and MT10 SP is like twice as much as the base MT09 and MT09 SP. Honestly I'm more of a fan of the CP3 compared to the CP4. Like if I got another Yamaha it be a MT07 and it's CP2 or a R6. I highly doubt they'll release a SP variant of the MT07 though.
The CP3 is Yamaha's least special engine, as it's not a true crossplane. I'd go for the 10 in a heartbeat.
@@Mr_Glenn I love the sound of a Triple. Ever since I had a Daytona 675R. Which is why I chose the MT09 SP instead of getting a MT10. In truth you can't go wrong with any of the MT line-up.
@@Mr_Glenn an inline 3 cylinder engine will always be a true crossplane, what are you talking about?

In this day and age a 3 cylinder is certainly more unique than a parallel twin with a 270 degree crank.
Is that motorcycle automatic??
Yamaha have been taking notes from Triumph's Street Triple.
Went SP in 2019 and would again. Can't live without the convenience of sofa mode and sport mode at the push of a button now. ☺
Dear Yamaha, please don't change the scroll wheel. It works great like the keys on a Yamaha saxophone.

although its a great bike I think it just a bit on the ugly side. . Not a fan of the headlights and the back looks very bland imo but can image its an awsome machine to ride.

Leans over 15 degrees, calls it incredible.
It went to 96🤣😂 speed limiter not working
What should i buy? MT10 or MT09? :/
If you like your bike to sound like a MotoGP bke and can feel comfortable with more torque than any bike I've ever ridden, buy the MT10 SP - so good for the road and track days

What are you talking about it let you get to 90 and it was looking like it would go higher if you were not about to run off road and had to cut power ...
I don't get the power limiter implementation ... not hating or anything but this feels like another sub par feature implemented by yamaha just like there cruise control ...
My 10s cruise control works flawlessly. What’s the issue?
I think I would rather get the standard model if I were to get an SP-10.....then I would have some extra money to make the bike more visible seeing as how Yamaha doesn't concern itself with making this model very visible to cars given the miniscule one eye bandit look.....
Chase, let me know when you want to sell your 2019!
Love the vids man, but youre going 80 on the highway in 4th and talking about vibes....dude
those little rubbers protecting mirror bolts. they never wana sit in place on any bike
