I just saw someone today mention to not topstitch through the lining, but didn't mention why not. Thank you for explaining in detail why we shouldn't. I couldn't understand why my seams were so bulky and didn't know how to fix it.
    Your tutorials are excellent 👌

My favorite way is from Rosie as in Rosie and David. She topstitches over the outside edge of the tab and not all the way from end to end.

If you want a nice sharp corner on the bottom, take one stitch at 45 degrees (not a 90 degree turn). Sounds counterintuitive-but it works.

Great quick how to video.Semi off topic but good info for zipper tabs for anyone reading, I was having such a hard time getting a good even top stich on my woven zipper tabs with my Janome M7 which is a semi-industrial. I found that interfacing my zipper tabs made a HUGE difference, that extra time is worth it for me and if others are having the same issue try it. I use little scraps to interface them of a very light weight and then normal woven interface weight. ♥

My stubborn self has been doing it for so long that when I encountered those instructions in a purse pattern recently I went “pffffft, I’ll do it anyway.” It was the prototype/for me purse, so I’ll make sure to cut that out for future sale purses! Thanks!

Thank you! I will be trying this out and seeing if it helps with the pleats or weird tucks up under the zipper on the lining. One zipper pouch I think I ripped and re-sewed three times trying to get the lining smooth at that point. I finally gave up since it was just a little bag for me.

Those ends do look good but for smaller bags I really love how much wider they open when one end of the zipper is folded at a 90 degree angle and no zipper tab there. In fact sometimes I just sit there opening and closing it over and over, squishing the left un tabbed side in towards the middle of the bag to make it open real wide and then zip it back up again because, well, I don't know, maybe I need a fidget toy or something LOL! Just did while watching your video with one of many of my peek a boo pouches that I always have around me 🤣
