    I needed a purse, bag, or pouch to enter a concert and just found your video, which I used to make my own, and to make it a little more comfortable, I added a shoulder strap. Thank you so much for your time to show how to do it.

    Just a pro tip from an upholsterer/custom boot maker... If you spray aerosol silicone spray on your table/sewing machine bed and wipe with a piece of t-shirt your materials that stick will slide, it will last quite awhile also, a quick spray on a rag and wipe down will get you through a small project.

    • @rendaowe
      @rendaowe 4 года назад +2

      El Michelle , thank you, that is a fantastic idea! Anyone who does paint pours with acrylic will have silicone oil. Just a tiny bit of that will do the same thing I would think, what say you?

    • @2amarinemama859
      @2amarinemama859 4 года назад +3

      @@rendaowe Sure, I don't see why not. I use the spray so its just a thin, easy to spread coat, but I use it for a few things so have it on hand.

    • @rendaowe
      @rendaowe 4 года назад +2

      El Michelle, Same here, It has so many fantastic uses, I use it for many different things and would not be without, the oil and the spray. Great stuff! I never really would have thought of doing that though. Thanks for that great Idea! Oh hey, Do you have a website by any chance or are you like me and just keep your work personal? 😉

    Loved your video Lauren!!! So many excellent tips and a beautiful finished bag! It's rare that a demonstrator doesn't go on and on about useless info but you never do, you are clear, to the point, fun, very knowledgeable, confident and I could happily watch a video you made all day long! 5 stars, 2 thumbs up from me! Hope to see another project by Lauren soon! Thank you for taking the time to teach us how to make the wonderful project. P.S. Ben is so cute and I enjoyed his debut!

    7:35 The first rotary cutter was introduced by Olfa in 1979. The guy who sold me my sewing machine showed me a book his mom wrote on quilting right before the rotary cutter was introduced and adopted by quilters and each piece had to be hand cut. 😅

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 4 года назад +7

      Vanessa Mtz, Yep. Cut the templates out of cardboard or sandpaper; hand cut each & every little piece. I was going to say, probably sometime in the 1980’s, because my first quilting class was 1981, (quilting was just starting to come back in style) and we (students & teacher) had not yet heard about the rotary cutters and acrylic rulers. But as soon as I did, I bought them! That changed everything! Especially the clear rulers, which are a huge help for all kinds of sewing & crafting. Before that, rulers you couldn’t see through. (How archaic, lol. But seriously, so annoying!). And of course, the rotary cutter, so MUCH faster & more accurate (although there was a learning curve to hold it properly while cutting) and I was terrified at first I was going to cut myself, but I never did, am always careful. I still have my original 28 mil Olfa cutter, & then added a Fiskar’s ergonomic 45 mil, and they’re both still going strong - I still use them. Didn’t realize it had been so long, lol! Still have my original acrylic ruler too, although I’ve upgraded those as they’ve improved leaps & bounds, esp. thicker & better markings. Wow, I think I’m officially vintage, lol!😬

      @@fludrbywest3886 I think grandma might be a bit younger if she had a rotary cutter, yes it’s not a 1960 invention though I think her grandma would probably laugh, can we interview grandma?
